I do understand the effects of popular music on the minds of youth, including rap spread on mass media as it stands. I would recommend investigating other sources of Hip Hop music *note there is a difference*. There is music out there of all genres that is about upliftment, community involvement and improvement for all people. ESPECIALLY HIP HOP. you might not care, the class is over, but please don't limit yourself or others with some broad scale prejudice based on what they want you to hear
This is stupid, these guys talk to parents about only one area of rap, gangster rap, by the sounds of it. What about all those Mc's out there that talk about the real and legit topics that we all have on our minds? Rap is an art form a way for people to express themselves, some people just don't understand and thats dangerous when people like these are feeding parents with this false information.
It depends on the person, i here rappers ta;lking about guns all the time, have bought albums with that violent content, and iv never owned or had the erge to own a gun ..so yeh
If your repeated thesis is "you should monitor what your children are listening to" & "be aware, you should care," then you should rename this video. Many rap artists are in fact rapping about the things you listed, but there are many more who are rapping about positive things. What about all the "evil" artists in rock or pop music? This video is stupid...
I listen to a lot of negative rap that's more about homicide than getting rich and it doesn't effect me in any way so the fuck this video trying to say?
Popular rap songs are materialistic and hedonistic. They glorify the lifestyles of some of the lowest forms of humanity: ignorant thugs from the ghetto. This video is a start but it is not a great critique of this musical pestilence.
Messages like "get rich or die trying" are extremely negative for children, it's basically telling them to do what ever it takes to get money. Kids have no respect for teachers or doctors, they're total losers in their minds.
I agree that a lot of rap has a negative influence on not only the urban community but anyone who takes a neglecting moral topic that's covered in a song and carries out the action hoping for the same reward portrayed in the songs they hear. However, it's unfair to categorize ALL rap as music that has a negative effect on people. A lot of rap is inspirational and doesn't influence people to go rob someone or slap a girl. The problem is, mainstream rap is the kind most people hear.

Rap music isnt evil, certain RAP ARTISTS are evil! otherwise rap music in itself is nothing more than another form of expression.
