The first time I saw it was on a special promoting old-time TV commercials. Either the originals were before my time or they weren't aired in the Philadelphia/New York area at the time. Never saw Hamms at a local liquor store in the '70s when I was old enough to drink alcohol legally, so it must have been a regional thing.
Ah yes, I live in St. Paul and you could go down to the brewery and fill up on the spring water they used for the beer. By the time I started drinking (15) it was a Stroh's brewery, ah that Minestrohta Strohs 30 packs.
I remember wanting to "cut" my throat after drinking that swill, ranked right up there with "Black Label".
They did have the best bar beer signs though.
Miller Brewing now owns the label and still sells it in limited markets , they have no plans to discontinue it , but also have decided it wasn't worth promoting either.
hee hee cock! I can't rememeber the taste of Hamm's. I wonder where you can get it now? I haven't seen it anywhere in Chicago, or rather, in the suburbs. I thought they were out of business??
Does anyone remember when drinking a cold beer had a cut to it? My husband says that beer doesn't do that anymore!! I sort of remember that, too, though it was so long ago.
i remeber blatz! wish i could find it out here in frisco.. just picked up a 12 pack of hamms though!! love hamms.

Speaking of Drewry's, anyone remember Blatz's?
ebf1957 4 years ago
I don't remember Blatz commercials, but remember the beer. Also remember my grandparents drinking "Kingsbury" beer brewed in Manitowoc WI.

LOL! I forgot all about Drewry's!! Now I remember that one...my husband says it was a cheap beer, not very good, in a red can.
