No, I was in the business I know what was going on, I seen it first hand. it wasn't "LACK" of regulation that caused the problem it was "OVER REGULATION". They were regulated, congress passed a bill mandating banks to make loans to poor people. The banks REFUSED maintaining the loans could not be payed off so congress passes the CRA act (community reinvestment act) to force them to make the loans anyway. The banks WEREN'T going to make the loans and congress forced them to. OVER REGULATION!

It's not like we can just walk the 90 miles from London to Dover with ease. It's not that we're small, the US is just that large.

Not really, no offense but I tend to find European peeps don't understand the need of larger cars in America. Heaver cars do better on gas, it's simple physics an object in motion stays in motion. We have bigger cars because we travel farther. Europeans don't understand this until you come to America and drive from Chicago to Denver, little cars are tremendously inefficient. The plastic is so that we can afford them. Leather is pretty expensive here.

Whilst I agree that cars with larger engines can be more efficient that ones with smaller engines on the motorway; a 2L going at 2K rpm rather than a 1L going at 5K rpm will do better milage - provided that both cars weigh the same - heavier cars will still need more energy to go the same speed.

It's not the banks that caused this, "loan shark banks" is an excuse used by democrats to cover up the truth. It was the democrats and unnecessary and unscrupulous regulation forced on the banks (that the republicans never stopped either) to make bad loans to people who could never afford them in the first place that caused the federal bailouts. It was wealth redistribution started by the peanut farmer in the 70's and continued by Clinton in the 90's and started 'AGAIN' under Obama.

It never ceases to stun me how little people know about what really happened and how it's continuing again under Obama now. The economic boom was caused by Clinton and the CRA in the 90's by forcing banks to make bad loans under duress and the collapse 15 years later was the result of those bad loans. "Predator bankers" is a lie and a misdirection so "YOU" don't catch on to the truth. It was a democrat blunder. Repubs never had the power to stop it and Dems didn't care

I'm 23 years old and I am going to put solar panels on my house so that the electric company can buy back the electricity that wasn't use and that money is going to pay off my student loans over the years.....
