@MasterMaxD I think he took one in the head from that elite ShinRa trooper. No matter how strong you are, that's a kill shot. Zack just showed how strong (and hardheaded) he was by pushing through that so he could give Cloud a final message, and goodbye. He clearly was the strongest person in the Final Fantasy VII universe, and is likely still stronger then Cloud or Sephiroth even after he faded into the lifestream.

Furthurmore right after he escaped he had to carry cloud who is unconscious along with him while running away from Shinra guards, imagine the amount of lethargy and fatigue he had to endure!

@MasterMaxD I'm not trying to ruin your point, but because FF7 (not including Crisis Core) was made BEFORE crisis core. So either Square Enix had to remake FF7 to have Zack live in it or have him die to make FF7 make sense. Saves money for not having to remake the game.
