fell in love with this show in 86"......... wuz 6 yrs old had to sneak and watch ....... equalizer, spencer for hire, hawk , miami vice , were excellent shows to.... miss 80"s tv shows.
The shows of the 1980's were so much more riveting. Albeit, the scripts unlike this show could be a bit campy, i.e. A-Team, the shows were creative. The shows drew us in every week. Shows now are tacky and boring. TV is dead.
Wow. Shows were actually good once. I just love the intro, and I mean, man, was this deep. It's more than a TV Show, it's like making love to your ears.
I recall a scene where they were being chased in a hallway by a bad guy with a gun and she bravely grabbed a fire extinguisher from the wall and rolled it toward the bad guy to trip him up. Not a very good idea as he merely jumped over the slow-moving object. It was funny.
Seems as though broadcast TV is trying this year to rekindle the sly & witty, yet provocative thoughts that Moonlighting captured so long ago. I haven't watched much broadcast TV of late -- too many insipid reality shows -- albeit some reality shows are intriguing, most fall to Lowest Common Denominator (another type of LCD)... and the copying/plagiarism is rampant. BUT -- there are a few "gems" trying to emerge.
Yep, I was about 10 year old too. It's crazy how involved I was in this show. Like PrincessofPower said, it takes you to a warm and romantic place. I remember David and Sam competing for Maddie's heart - so intense.
I used to watch this as a kid and the song made me like wow I have dreams. I used to go to sleep watching it. I was in third grade I believe! This song is good. Classy like black dynamite said.

Everyone! Please go to the link and sign the petition, it is to get Moonlighting back on air!! Yes! Please! I am 15 years old and I have never seen it! Please Please Please! We're trying to get 1000, I know everyone would love it!
Moonlighting, Cheers, Dallas, Live Aid, Queen, Michael Jackson, Max Headroom, Barry McGuigan, White Pepsi Cans, Back to the Future, Breakfast Club, Space Invaders -- there will never be another decade like the 80s!
@tanrat7 I was just about to make the same comment. Never knew what this show was about, nor did I ever watch it, just remember being in bed and hearing the theme music...samething for cagney and lacey too
@tanrat7 Me too, hahaha!!! here we are, a bunch of people from all around the world, sharing the same experience... LOL. I'm crying. I think I'm having my mid-thirties life crisis. Waaaaaahhhh
@illuminatioracle you hit the nail right on the head. Watch Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" video (the scene where she emerges from the pool with the two boxers) and then compare it with the Gozer scene from the movie "Ghostbusters".
Lady Gaga has copied every part of her routine from another movie or music video.
Seeing this is very poignant for me. I was in my late twenties at the time of this series and I and my friends watched it FAITHFULLY. I had just reentered art school. - long live big hair, I was a "new romantic"...My boyfriend, soon to be my husband, said he thought of this song when he thought of us, so I guess you could say it was our song. It was all very... roses sent to me for no reason at all, etc. - may you all have a romance like mine. "The 80's" WERE a thing of beauty.
@DaringDarkwingDuck That's how I felt about LA Law! I never watched the show--it was out when I was in elementary school--but I'd watch the opening credits just to hear the theme song.
Wow...this use to be my show!! I was like 10 years old when this show was really popular. I thought Bruce Willis was so funny and Cybill Shepard was so sophisticated as Maddie. Loved the banter between them and the whole will they are won't they storyline.
I loved this intro so much that I would be disappointed if I missed it on TV. The still shots and photos made it look like city life is fun and full of things to do. I was just entering high school when this premiered on ABC and was hooked till the end. It was hard to do my homework while watching this show.....LOL Memories.
ahhhhh back when T.V. had actors, not reality t.v. Don't we sometimes watch T.V. just to escape reality for a while. I miss shows like this and Family Ties etc. Shows that took the time to develop characters. Thanks for posting this, great memories.
@steelerbradd reality does have actors. it is just marketed under false pretenses because people generally have an attraction to watching a show not for entertainment anymore, but to look down upon others so they can feel better about themselves. its like a drug to them.
Prime-time shows from the 80's were like love letters to southern California, but this intro (let alone the entire series) had me ready to pack off to LA that evening. IMO Moonlighting made LA like a character of her own, like what Seinfeld would later do with NYC. Nowadays I love my hometown, but TV really ought to give LA it's due again.
@xandervaliya.......NYC was already a multi character before Seinfeld. Movies like the Godfather locked up an outsiders view of NYC long before the that show
Moonlighting was brilliant TV series from old good 80's. Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd were stunning.I hated only one thing - when Bruce started talking to camera and cameramen. I never appreciated such kind of humour.
Anyway I miss this beautiful show. While epoch of the 80's had Kim Basinger, Madonna, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathleen Turner as sex symbols, TV screen had Cybill. She was stunning woman.
I seem to remember it being on BBC2 Monday evening's. Life was so much easier then, when the only thing you had to worry about was setting the right time and channel for the video recorder.
Just hearing this brings back so many memories. Times were so much simpler than. If i knew then what I know now I would have been more appreciative of just being a child.
OMG I remember back in the day when this show was new!!! I was like 5 or 6 and when THIS show or DYNASTY came on...we knew not to talk to my mom or aunts when this show came on cuz we would get Slapped!! lol Man this theme epitomizes the 80's daym I miss those days I swear
Reminds me of lucozade, digestive biscuits, wearing my school uniform all day and quietly panicking because I haven't done my homework yet for the next day.
Man this theme brings back so many memories!! I love the still shots, and the music, especially the last one. and you're right it does make you feel good. Good times.
This theme song puts me in such a special, warm and romantic place that may never be recreated again. Another great theme song sung by a great singer for a great show with great actors. :) And is it just me, or is Bruce Willis one of the sexiest things to come out of prime-time or what? ;)
I much prefer THIS original opening credit sequence that ran for the first 2 seasons of this show. When they revised the credits for the premiere of season 3 in the fall of '86, the photos were not as good and a different version of the song was used. Plus, Curtis Armstrong is not in these credits... as his character ("Herbert Viola") had not appeared on the show yet. And I'm sorry, but he was not one of my favorite characters on the show.
this show came out when I was 5 years old and I watched it all the time and I had a huge crush on David Addison those days are long gone so I had to recapture the memories
takes me back to being a 15 year old watching this every friday and wanking off about 10 times a night......i was like a little chimp......im down to wanking once a month now and my ball bag is by my knees.....oh time is a cruel mistress.
One day Bruce Willis should cameo on TV or in a movie as David Addison. Just be smart alecky and walk off. It'd be brilliant and everybody would love it.
@JamaicaUK yes i rmbr it well....Monday nights! My Dad who i lost recently was a convert.....I got him into it.....he loved it when in the later episodes or series they talked to the camera and started talking about ABC and the ratings halfway through the episode....so funny!
Al Jarreau quite a singer. I like his "roof garden" and "we're in this love together".
I loved this show too, partly because early on it was a clever well written show, and because that was a great time in my life with many terrific memories.
They don't make theme songs like this anymore with the exception of Family Guy. Even shows like Small Wonder had a theme song you can remember. I miss the 80's.
Seems to be lots of comments about 80s being great or not -- not sure that's the point -- the point I see is there is good and bad in all eras -- look at rock/pop music -- great stuff for last 30 years, great stuff now, I bet great stuff to come! Just good to enjoy the inventive, creative side of people whenever it occurs. I so think it occurred with Moonlighting, like I think so for Lost - but many will disagree. That's life, and freedom to express.... FAM
@Majormaxie No that's not life that's death and freedom to express insanity and love it as well as the sick fuck you are :) Btw, Bruce Willis sucks and all his movies are crap.
I still love this tv series very much!!I can't get over it!Especially I lke Cybill Shepard !Bruce Wilis must enjoyed this tv series very much ,he used to have so much fun back then!
FlawlessCock, Im 31, with thick hair and young enough to know u suck big time.!Moonlighting with the shit! The 80's were a great time for music and television. U are the over 40 year old virgin who sufferes from reoccuring gingivitis
Iaffolympics, go back to bed and play with your piece of thick skin supposedly your dick.
Headley62@ Bless you man you know damn well what I'm talking about.. I have nothing but pity for those who yearn for the "good" ol' times.. stop living in the past.. I mean seriously 20 years is god damn long time for people to be talking about.. Back in the 90's I didn't hear shit about anyone speaking fond of the 70's/80's but nowadays everybody does, wonder why...
Finally somebody with no shit for brains. This show sucks and anybody who comes here to honor this program must be over 40 year old virgin who misses the 80's so much. The 80's sucked. Nothing to be proud of, end of fucking story.
Man, this show was the best, so revolutionary in it's day too. That was what was so wonderful about the Eighties, creativity was at its best and Moonlighting lead the way on TV. I really miss Ms. Depesto answering the agencie's phone. I flat out miss the Eighties! Thanks for posting this.
Thx for the comment -- I miss shows like this as well -- now its about scifi + nip/tuck edgy scenes + murder -- nothing funny on Moonlighting's level at all. Sad.
Sad we will never see those days again. Sigh.........

This was my favorite, too back in the day.
It was so very witty and clever until Maddie slept around season 3(as an excuse for her real-life pregnancy).
Then the show expanded the roles of Agnes and Burt to mask the war between Cybill and Bruce. But those first couple yrs were fantastic.

This was a show I discovered as a high school student while channel surfing.
MOONLIGHTING charmed me from the first episode I saw.
Shows like this are Raria Avis-rare birds-because this show evolved from comedy/mystery to romance to screwball to in-jokish self consciousness.
This was not one show but several shows in one.
I would argue the show was cancelled in 1989 partly because it was a tough show to write and produce.

They could pull that off on "30 Rock" I'll bet . . . and even bring in Cybill Shepherd back as Maddie!

I used to love that show. I was really young when it was on, but I had a huge crush on Bruce Willis.

@JamaicaUK yes i rmbr it well....Monday nights! My Dad who i lost recently was a convert.....I got him into it.....he loved it when in the later episodes or series they talked to the camera and started talking about ABC and the ratings halfway through the episode....so funny!

@MovieMad007
It aired Tuesday nights at 9/8 central

@JamaicaUK Was only shown once because BBC2, in their wisdom, didn't buy the repeat rights. I was gutted as it was my favourite show at the time!

I miss the 80's.

i like the full song. it is better than the one for tv

FAM
Majormaxie 2 years ago
@Majormaxie No that's not life that's death and freedom to express insanity and love it as well as the sick fuck you are :) Btw, Bruce Willis sucks and all his movies are crap.

The 1980's were not that great. People tend to look back at things with a fondness because they are
yearning for contentment.

I loved Maddie, and I addored the cute relationship between Ms. Depesto and Herbert the "sandwich guy".
dlanceblack 2 years ago
Man, this show was the best, so revolutionary in it's day too. That was what was so wonderful about the Eighties, creativity was at its best and Moonlighting lead the way on TV. I really miss Ms. Depesto answering the agencie's phone. I flat out miss the Eighties! Thanks for posting this.

Thx for the comment -- I miss shows like this as well -- now its about scifi + nip/tuck edgy scenes + murder -- nothing funny on Moonlighting's level at all. Sad.
