Sorry if this was already obvious to you, but it sounds like you need to disabled your CTCSS/ PL tone on RX.
When you key up, do you see the signal meter show a signal in receive? If so it is possible your tone is still set and this will need to be disabled for the radio to un-mute. There should be something in the manual that shows you how to enable/disable that function. Don't forget to set the squelch close to threshold and volume off from the minimum and it should come to life.
i need some help plase with my radio i have TYT TH-F5 i can get the repeater 476.4500 get Audio in but no Audio out. have offset on 00750 and + plus shift. that give me the repeater.. just like it for UHF CB NOT for HAM RADIO
CAN SOME PALES HELP ME I AM LOST. EMAIL ME ON BJ.STEVEN@MAIL.COM
colourful bunch they are - I still remember the first unprintable singalong I heard and a guy with a voice like gravel boasting about ... connect the dots on that one.
Going to get me a portable UHF one day to listen to these yobbos.
g-day ... i just bought a portable UHF 1 watt radio, and when i talk to my mate in the 4x4 with his base UHF he can here me, but when he sends a radio transmison back i cant here him why is that ?? please i need to know asap going to tomson dam this weekend cheers ..
Hi there. First off if you are using channel 1 to 8. Check the duplex button on your friends radio. If it is a commercial grade radio it may be programmed in duplex. Best of using a channel above the repeaters such as 9 to 40.
If you still cannot hear him, check if you have your CTCSS tone squelch enabled.
Also you should be able to tell if there is an incoming signal being received by indication of an RX LED, signal meter or RX indicator in your display.
Just one other note, I know it is obvious, but check your squelch is not flat out and you have some volume. You should be able to hear the squelch noise when you turn the squelch to mininum. Adjust volume to a comfortable level and then set the squelch just a little higher above the cut off point.
tell you what you guys out there are so lucky to have the extra C.B radio freqencys all we have here in england is 27mhz we used to have 934mhz but that was taken off us and used for the mobile telephones which is totally disagreable in my opinion but there you go you cannot have it all ways can you and I too cannot complain eather because I'm a radio amateur and have thousands of freqencys at my disposal for my useage and am very delighted 73's 51's stephen M3SNV Brekfield Liverpool {UK}.
Thanks Stephen. I knew you guys had a 934Mhz band but did not know they took it off you. That would have been quite an interesting band to play with. I guess it would be similar to the 1200 MHz 23cm band and if you have good LOS and height, you would have made contacts over very long distance even on very small RF output.
Become a radio amateur and as you say, plenty of bands and modes to play with! :)
I have not used an IC-208H but it sounds like a good one. Some modded mobile amateur rigs are good for CB, but only some. I could not say how it compares to the IC-F210 but IC-208H with added 2m band coverage, handy radio.
Frequencies for CFA etc probably come up with google search I reckon. I'm sure they're out there somewhere. Good luck there. Thoughts go out to those affected & those fighting the Vic fires. Glad the weather has been more forgiving this week but be safe out there.
hi just wondering i just bought a Uniden UH400SX-RM CB UHF Radio from QLD and i need the emergancy channels but i have no clue how to get the as i am a firefighter just wondering on how and where to get them if u can let me know thanks mate
Not familiar with the 210's specs, but wondering how it compares with an IC208H, which are quite cheap now?
They too can be easily modded for 477MHz whilst still retaining 70cm and also covers the 2m band. They seem to perform reasonably well when modded, unless you're a perfectionist...
Plus a wide range of RX freqs up to ~900MHz, makes for a half-decent scanner of sorts.
True, or if they do, they usually don't work well on one or the other band. Rare to find a PMR commercial radio good on both bands.
It would be interesting if someone would have a play around with an IC400 pro and see what it can do. I have not had one to try, but I also heard its the same radio in effect as the f210's so you would think 70cm should be possible on the IC400 pro also?
If anyone has an IC400 pro and ability to program 70cm, please post back and let us know how it performs.
Yes, I played around with it more today and got the scan functions programmed for each bank how I like them.
I also discovered the 'main' pinouts for the microphone are the same as amateur icom gear (+8V, GND, MicIn ,MicGND and PTT) meaning my singaLink unit & packet radio modem will work with the radio without changing a thing. You have to be careful if you connect other mics. They work but best not use the buttons UP/DN as pin 2 is used as output on the ICF210 & pin 8 is hook. Check Diagrams.
thank you for or help i will give it a go
thank you to jphdg

how much did it costs

I bought it brand new for about $300 or so Australian dollars.
If you are lucky enough and can find a second hand one, you should be able to do better.

brilliant. its good that it does 70cm and 477MHz, usually radios dont do both!
I have the icom ic400pro, its exactly the same radio as the f210, just the buttons are labeled different.

70cm is a band classification in terms of its full RF wavelength. Aus CB UHF radio operates on 477MHz around 63cm.
The amateur UHF band operates commonly between 430-440MHz in Australia. Wavelength is about 70cm, hence we call it the 70cm Amateur band.
Amateur radio operators often refer to bands in their full frequency wavelengths to identify them rather than say VHF amateur, UHF amateur etc.
Example of Amateur HF 28/29Mhz:
300/28.6000MHz = 10.48 meters - 10 meter band.
Hope this helps :)
