Everytime I listen to this theme,...It makes me want to start crying. I think of all the things I did as a child that I loved and the people I will never see again in this life. It makes me feel a longing for all the good things that were a part of my childhood.
@esb1250 This music has the same effect on me. I looked at your profile and saw that your music is my music. I mean, how many people know that Doris Day sang the definitive version of "My Secret Love?" Well., goodby now, I'm headed for my hanky box.
@esb1250 - DON'T CRY ANYMORE. be grateful for the memories those lovely people left you with!!! if you believe in an afterlife, you know well you will meet up with them all again. and so you shall.have you ever been to a psychic? or a christian spiritualist church? you are in for a very, very spiritual surprise, word of honour.
This movie has been one of my favorites for many years and I never get tired of seeing it. The "part" which starts at :55 gives me such a feeling of longing and sadness of the heart. Music is a powerful thing. As is stated at the end of the movie I wish I could find the person who is looking for the love I carry within my heart.
i love tis music and movie. i could watch this and return to peyton place a 100 times and never get tired of it.

as a youngster in the fifties/sixties, i had always heard of peryton place being a dirty story!
saw the movie eventually, uncut, on BBC2 tv, no commercial breaks.
TO ME THIS IS SUPERIOR SOAP OPERA.
If I said it was the best movie ever made, how many of you would disagree with me?
not many, if ANY!!!

This and the theme from To Kill a Mockingbird. Both are beautifully done and evoke the emotions of the film.

One of the most lyrically beautiful scores ever written for a movie.
