  • dosen't get much better, or more true!!!

  • This is the best I ever heard Carleen Carter sound!

  • Somebody must be able to put The Uh-Oh Song on here.

  • Anybody out there remember a song he did called white noise(?) Back in the late 70's early 80's?

  • @1beamer11 From the album Fixation, great album!

  • memories of trying to get a driver's license...always liked this song

  • Love this song!

  • great song. Horrible video. lol. Orrall looks like he's dressed for his High School Yearbook photo. but Carlene was hot :-D

  • Saw Robert Ellis Orrall with his fantastic band on Nantucket in the early 80's. I remember this song ... Flashback... true talent... there was another group called Orchestra Luna with Randy Roos... fantastic time for music..

  • 2 1 hit wionders on the same song. Pop 1-hit wonders, that is. Robert and Carlene hit #32 in Billboard, 5-21-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @DaveWollenberg Carlene Carter had (is it has since she is still living?) I Fell in Love...Every Little Thing and idk some other song I am forgetting at the moment.

  • @angiedoud17 I know that Robert and Carlene had more than 1 hit each on the country chart.

  • No doubt one of the lost gems of the 1980's I first heard this song while sweating thru brutal, early morning workouts in military basic training.

  • omg I loved this song when I was a kid. Too bad it wasn't more popular back then. great song.

  • One has to wonder how a Massachusetts native managed to get into a duet with June Carter's daughter. Great song!

  • @rmurbach1961 Maybe they were in a parallel universe.

Remember Moms Mabley and Perry Como, now that was a duet that made

    history.

  • I met him about a month ago. It was a very nice visit. He's an amazing songwriter.

  • It's like an uptempo "Stop Draggin My Heart Around," almost

  • Great melody, great lyrics, great hook, great theme, great singing. One of the best songs ever.

  • SO GLAD I RAN ACROSS THIS SONG AFTER SO MANY YEARS!

  • Love the song!

  • Love this song! Wow, saw him downtown Providence RI!

  • Glad to hear music like this again from the 80's. Wonderful song that I havent heard for years. Unfortunately stuff that we hear from the radio glorifies drugs, hate, sex, materialism and satanism. Really sad music world nowadays.

  • I had this a lifetime ago on cassette tape. Love this girl's voice!

  • I just heard this song on sirius radio and just found it thanks to you. Great Lost hit.

  • 2 1-hit wonders on 1 track, HIt #32 in Billboard. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg

Carlene Carter has had one than one hit. Every Little Thing and I Fell In Love ...also there are so many of her songs that should have been hits but never got noticed...

  • @DaveWollenberg I was talkin' 'bout Carlene's pop chart career. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg

I thought I was the only person in the world who knew that information. It debuted at 35, climbed to 33, peaked at 32 and then fell off the chart. I had a strange childhood.

  • @joeymac2 Hey, Joey, it helps to have a copy of the Billboard Hot 100 charts of the '80s, by Joel Whitburn. If you're interested, why not order a book for yourself. Record Research's number is: 262-251-5408. God bless!

  • Great song! Oh the memories...LOL!

  • Man, I never knew he made a video for this to begin with! I loved this song in the 80's and still do

  • one of my favorite "lost hits" of the 80s.....even though it only got to #32 on the Hot 100 chart in May of 1983.....its a fun song to listen to...sort of reminds me of "Stumblin In" by Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman

  • Where could i download this amazing song for free?

  • @Bender50000 how about you dont be cheap and pay for it

  • @Bender50000 lol....its "amazing" but not worth paying a peny for lol!

  • Hey inside...I agree with you about this song deserved more chart time in 83, but dont you think you should be investigating 9/11's 'inside job', rather than surfing You-Tube??? LOLOLOL

  • You tube is my guilty little pleasure, I beat the 911 drum too many months, lol.

  • 2 1 hit wonders on 1 track. Carlene's father died recently. RIP, Carl Smith. Hit #32 in Billboard.

  • You know, I'm thinking this might have worked better as a Carlene Carter solo - she has a remarkable voice, at least on the evidence of this track. His shared vocal works fine as a foil here but vocally the stage is hers.

This is a polished, pristinely recorded and beautifully executed pop track. Very reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac Rumors period or her husband Nick Lowe's "Cruel to be Kind."

  • i think he should have said no to his barber and said use the bowl for cereal not a guide to cut hair

  • So.... what'd your hair look like in 1983... if you were around then?

  • Alec Baldwin, I mean it this rhyme.. How do you know that you're on this lline?..

  • wcd47 — That IS Carlene Carter. I mean, it's the same Carlene Carter that appears on the cover of Carlene Carter albums.

  • This summer's up .....and this sums, You in my oreword, tact-word tact, we're view...Am I mis-cen....Am I miss scene?...Alec Baldwin, do you miss you in Mass?

  • FYI not Carlene Carter.....Wigs work wonders.....LOL.... The guy isn't even playing the piano. Soo sorry....

  • I never knew they made a video for this song!! I had a 45 of this in the 80's and then got on a compilation CD later on!! Thank You!!

  • This song and video are awesome! It is a pitty that Carlene Carter did not have a better run. Even today she better then just about any female country singer out there. I guess if you are over 40 Nashville see you as a has-been

  • I agree. She is a very talented vocalist, American Idol alumni could learn a thing or two from her about restrain and not drowning out the music by lamblasting the vocal. Carlene rides the arrangement with understated coolness until the climactic chorus.

How does a song this outstanding fall through the cracks while crap like Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" hang around infinitely? There are greater tragedies but this one is sad enough for me.

  • this song is catchy...but are you really comparing it to "Dont Stop Believing?"...Steve Perry vocals are amazing...this guy ... not so much!

  • This song is just a far better recording. The song is better and the interplay has far more emotional honesty. Steve Pery may be a better singer than Robert Ellis Orrall, but Perry is certainly not as good as Carlene Carter. Whatever talent Steve Perry has as a singer is obscured by material that just lacks bite and resonance, at least to these ears. Journey to me is just like one of those power 80s bands that made a bunch of successful (but bland) hits.

  • @911insidejo8 I thought you were joking. The lyrics are so trite and just bad...like this is a mockumentary. "Im not about to watch you walk away...I thought I'd walk away from you someday" LOL!

  • Kind of besides the point-some of the best songs I've ever heard, from Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" to

Madonna's "Music" have inconsequential, throwaway lyrics.

When I hear a song, I'm listening to the whole picture and whether the song conveys the mood it intends to and you don't have to write a lyric like Springsteen, Dylan or Lauryn Hill or sing like Aretha Franklin in order to tap into the mood of a song although it is great if you can.

  • Good point.

  • Thanks!

  • @911insidejo8 I think anything is better when it is sung by the guy who wrote it... which REO did!

  • Right on!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for posting...love it! I bought the sheet music years ago cause I couldn't find the single...

  • By the way, thanks for posting this video. I've never seen it.

  • I've always thought that everything about this song was great. I still have the 45. Like 6dlrwht said, I could never understand why it wasn't a big hit. Oh well, it's always been a big hit to me.

  • It was his only hit on the pop charts. It only got to 38 but it did make the top 40 :) The B side of the 45 was great too, "The Message".

  • when you here a song as good as this you think wow,but when you see the song you think WOW!!!!

  • Man, this song reminds me of high school.

  • If only we had a few from the Fixation album... Call the UH OH Squad!

REO used to practise in my friend's cellar because his brother, Dr Jerry Visual, did lights and sound.

  • I never thought I would ever hear this song again! This is one of my favorite songs fron the '80's. It's too bad most radio stations have completely blocked it out of their minds!

  • what a great song I liked it the first time I heard it. 24 years ago

  • He's sexy, then and even still ... now, he's sexy.

  • Awesome Song. I remeber when this came out in the early 80's. I couldn't understand then ( or now ) why it wasn't a bigger hit. Wish i could find it on itunes.

  • I agree so much they are both so great I love this song it is very odd they are not the biggest thing in the world every one knows Johnny Cash but you say Carlene Carter and they say whos that

  • Great song....they are both under rated...wonder what persuadedthose two to join forces for a song?

  • I've been searching for this song for over 25 years. Thanks for posting it. What a perfect Thanksgiving gift.

  • I cant believe there is a video to this!!!!! AWESOME... One of my all time favs... I LOVE this song! Thanks for posting!
