How on earth can a CRT be HD, especially when you're playing in 480.. that isn't HD, nevermind the fact that CRTs are interlace only, therefor cannot do "480p" (not that anything really does, since 480i would be indistinguishable from 480p at that size).

you're right, the majority of CRT's are only capable of 480i, even then they look great especially the newer ones with component hookup although still being only 480i.

however, there are a few models that really are HD. Look up Sony Wega CRT's, I have a 32" and it has the best looking picture in the world - yes it is capable of HD in the form of 720P as well as 1080i. And of course 480i and 480P as well. 480P for GC games on a CRT is breathtaking - significantly better than 480i.

@PersonOnEarth actually did! it´s just that with sonic next gen, they focused so much on the graphics, that they forgot where gaming is all about, the GAMEplay!

the characters where so hard to control, that i quit half way the game!!

I can see where you're coming from now, I never played any sonic games past heros, so I am kinda accustomed to GC-era 3D sonic games. I forgot about the power of Ps3 and X360 with their 720P or even 1080, (although I don't own either) but even so GC graphics are still clean, you can't call them bad...just, not up to date as you said.

But yeah who cares, gameplay is where it's at. Realistic shiny graphics can add A LOT to a game, except if the game sucks.....

hey, how do you capture the footage? It doesn't look like you just put the camera in front of the TV, do you have that Dazzle thing or something?

yeah I do put a camera in front, the camera cost 2 million dollars so it looks perfect.

hehaha nah I am just kidding, but I record the run on a VCR while I play, then put it on a DVD and use a program that turns DVD files into wmv so I can upload.

the quality is semi-sucky, but it's okay. way better than 99% of camera videos.

@PersonOnEarth Now, are you records for both Sonic ADventure 2 and Sonic Adventure to battle or just Battle because I heard there were some speed differences between the two (the dreamcast version having sonic run just a little bit faster).

@cuddlep00p All of mine are done on GC except for my City Escape Mission 2 run, because the DC version has a 20 ring box that is only 10 rings on GC and it helps you finish the level much faster.

DC does not have any running advantage what so ever, but some levels have tricks that cannot be done on GC so for some levels DC has the advantage, but overall GC is much better and much easier to play on because the controls are tighter which let you keep sonic running straight much easier.

you and finalrush7 are incredible. I spent a month on mission 1 (by a month, i mean at least 100 hours) and i could only get 2:20 or so, with no signs of improvement being possible for me. Not only have you kicked my ass, you did it on mission 5, which in all honesty, i'm not even sure if i have access to yet.

also, that trick at the end where you jump straight to the slope with debris falling towards you, can it be done on mission 1?

This trick can be done on Mission 1. FR7 and I determined that it saves very little if any time though, so we never incorporated it into our 2:07's. It may save just a tiny bit of time, but overall it is not worth it really.

On Mission 5 though you save at least 5 seconds, mainly because you skip having to hit the switch by the chaos thing to get the weight off the boxes, plus you can get into the position and spindash jump very fast. On M1 you have to jump on the block with a rail.

And I'm pretty sure it took Paragod and me much more than just a month to get somewhere near 2:20 in the beginning, so you shouldn't really be saying "only" 2:20, as that is a really good time already!

yeah, but i was able to base my run off of yours. i highly doubt the strategy you hit 2:20 with is the same one you hit 2:09 with. i'm sure if our positions had been switched, you would've gotten 2:20 easily, and likely even lower.

as you can see, there's plenty of potential left, 2:12 can easily be beaten and sub 2:10 can be done for sure.

Yeah, I got run over by nostalgia (what a coincidence... but I'll go into detail tomorrow), even if it's just a year old! I didn't see too many mistakes, but I guess 2:10 is a reasonable target. We might get there is we work together again!

I've seen plenty of helpful things, and this record just rose on my priority list by quite a bit!!

Also, you're a master of this level as well. Keep that in mind! ^_^
