  • Some of the content includes: Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show (CB&SS) Generic Bumpers In the News: Cherry Blossoms This is CBS Care Bears Saturday Supercade (SS) D&D WCBS-TV In the News: Battleship Missouri Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle Thanks for posting!
  • June 1984 - I was graduating High School that month! Good Lord....these graphics are so stone-age, but they were cutting-edge at the time. Christopher Glenn was the dude that did "In The News" even back when I was a young kid in the 70s.

  • LOL!! I remember that jingle!!!! Nabisco..ding

  • it would be interesting if In the News came back today and explained the BP oil spill. If only they didn't cancel it, I'm sure they would have explained Lewinsky, 9/11, and the financial/housing crises in a way so that kids would understand it too.

  • @kgoundan I totally agree.

  • @kgoundan I might be wrong but I think back when Craig Kilborn hosted The Late Late show they brought it back but in a comical format and made fun of it as well. Specifically they were poking fun at the weeks/days news highlights.

Have a great night, a great day tommorrow, a great night tommorrow, a great week, a great month, a great autumn and a Happy Halloween! Puerto Rican Love from New York City!

  • "Christopher Glen did the "In the News" segment! Fond memories!"

  • FLASHBEAGLE!!!! Rock and Roll!!!

  • I remember this! I was 5 in 1984 but I remember those In The News segments and those old Channel 2 promos (I live in New York City). I think my sister and I watched that care Bears special that night LOL! We NEVER missed a cartoon special back then; they used to have so many in the 80's. The best decade of TV and cartoons, I always say.

  • By the way, I noticed Saturday Supercade was on there, but what were the bumpers at the beginning of the video for? Was it Starcade or something?

  • I had forgotten about these, I was about 4/5 yrs old at the time. But yes I did watch just about every CBS and NBC saturday show.

  • I was born in '85 but I remember watching NBC and CBS Saturday Mornings in the late '80's and early '90's. Fox Kid's was good as well. Here in NYC in the early '90's, Channel 9 (now MyNetwork TV) aired kids shows on Sunday mornings and not Saturdays. But they were mostly old and syndicated ones.

Have a great night, a great day tommorrow, a great night tommorrow, a great week, a great month, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All the best in 2010 an beyond. Puerto Rican Love from NYC!

  • How could anyone not love the 80's? It was such a great time to be a kid. I remember those In The News commercials like it was yesterday. I used to love Saturday mornings and Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Kids these days just don't know what they missed out on.

  • Amen to that! These days they've replaced all the great cartoons with live action/teen shows. It's like they want kids to grow up too fast.

  • On Saturday mornings I head straight for the computer in my pj's and cereal. I only do it on Saturday so it will feel more like the 80s

  • @tanquantwal That's what I am doing this Saturday morning. This week I'm going to buy Cookie Crisp cereal to complete the experience

  • You got that right!!

  • It's so awesome I get to see these again after so many years - I always associate them with watching Dungeons and Dragons

  • Anyone know who did the "This is CBS" ID spiel? Was it Stuart Metz or Harry Kramer?

  • Class Bumpers

  • IN THE NEWS: TREES!

  • In The News: Big MO!

  • Finally, Me and my brother watch CBS Saturday morning when we were very little. And everything will be great. We saw the biskitts, Donkey Kong, Donky Kong Jr, Q-bert and the video game stars, Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show, and More.

  • I loved watching CBS every sat morning back in the year 1983 when I was 5 years old! I remember meeting The Biskitts at TOYS R' US! I loved Saturday Supercade. I had a Snoopy Sleeping Bag! Do you remember The Great Space Coaster?

  • Oh, the days of turning on the TV and seeing the color test pattern, then watching 6 solid hours of cartoons. It was the best part of being a kid in the 1980s.

  • i cant beleive it. I remember the "Ine the news" like it was yesterday. And all the bumpers too. Thanks for posting this. This is really awesome and takes me back to happy innocent saturday mornings in 1984.

  • Goddamn, this is what I've been looking for. Those old "space bumpers" were awesome, and I remember when they eventually put all four music clips to just the Big Dipper one. Those In The News clips were also a vintage thing. :-) RIP Chris Glenn.

  • OH SNAP! Nabisco(ding)FLASHBEAGLE! JUNK FOOD COMMERCIALS!(cries like a baby)WHY DID I HAVE TO GROW UP?(sniff)I'm okay..:(

  • Wow! I haven't seen those cool bumpers since the 4th grade! Sniff! I sure miss those days!

  • I loved The Atari style games of the 1980's!

  • Yeah they used to play those bumpers for Sat. Supercade and The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show.

  • I loved watching Donkey Kong ,Q-Bert, Space Ace, and Kangaroo on Saturday Supercade on CBS sat morn when I was only 6 years old back in the year 1984!

  • They also played them for Fat Albert and Gilligan's Planet.

  • Man, just yesterday, now I look at Saturday morning toons today, and they just bite.

  • On satelite, when they said THIS IS CBS,

the eye would stay up for one minute, then

the screen would go blank. Then just come on

    to the next program!

  • I loved the 1980's atari style videogame bumpers for Saturday Supercade on cbs!

  • OMG that was awesome, getting old sucks.

  • OMG!!! In the News! I remember that! What a GREAT trip back!!!

  • I knew that Wheel of Fortune used to air on CBS at one time...but I don't remember when it switched over to ABC. The In The News segments were always kinda creepy to me...one in particular was about these mysterious lights that appeared in the mountains or something like that. If anyone has that one, I hope they upload it.

  • Awesome. I feel like this was just yesterday. I loved channel 2 Saturday morning cartoons.

  • Oh Wow! Those bumpers brought me back to when I was in the 4th grade ! The sounds even...IN THE NEWS jingle. And Snoopy's Flashbeagle -- I remember when it premiered that night and I videotaped it :) I just wish I knew where I did with now-crusty VHS tape. I would love to share that here.

  • I have been waiting to see some WCBS Saturday Morning promos. Thanks a lot.

  • That "Care Bears" narrator was seriously annoying. Was he supposed to sound like Droopy? lol

"In the News"...man, that takes me back. I'd hear that and automatically think that the gods of news, Cronkite and Kuralt, had some grand pronouncement.

  • seriouslysomething happened, not just i'm older...somethin happened man...

  • I loved The Sat morning CBS in The News music when I watched it growing up in Long Island, New York back in the year 1984 when I was only 6 years old!

  • CBS was my favorite saturday morning cartoon channel when I was 6 years old back in the year 1984!

  • I dont know what's creepier. The In The News intro or the TV Guide commercials from the 70s

  • charlie brown and snoopy!

  • awesome

  • the highlight of video searches

  • land of the lost cool

  • these cbs bumpers are great Ive been looking for them for years

  • The In The News music is still freaky as hell. The rest brings me back to those carefree days. Thank you so much.

  • that's pretty interesting!

  • I was forbidden to watch dungeons and dragons, when i was young.

  • I feel bad for you. Were they religous or strict?

  • You didn't miss anything.

  • love the bumpers.. i guess u can't actually show any cartoons???

  • NBC had their own version called Ask NBC NEWS and sport themed Time Out.

  • I faintly remembered Ask NBC News. It had their trademark "teletype" theme with slightly different foreground music then their NBC Nightly News counterpart.

  • AAAAAAHHHH! IN THE NEWS!!!! I haven't seen those since TV Land aired them in the winter of 1996

  • now its says signs of spring then why would this be from june if they bloom in march?

  • That "In The News" segment was probably aired in April '84 either a week or two after the Cherry Blossom festival in D.C.

  • the bumpers and promos are from June 1984.

  • I used to watch the Care Bears. I think I still have that tape.

  • Thanks for the Care Bears promo!

  • Thanks for the Bumpers. It has been a while since I seen the "In The News" segments.
