You don't have to unplug the cymbal. It can alternatively be used as the blue. And the GH guitars do work, I have a video about it on my channel.

As long as you have some type of Wi-Fi connection (A wireless router) and can get online with your Wii, it should be no problem.

Bullshit. yes you can if you play GHWT on any console with rockband drums it simply merges the lanes into 4 instead of 5 because GHWT has 5 pads and rockband has 4. you can do it i'v seen it done and ALOT of the GHWT videos on youtube are played on rockband drums look it up ;)

I mean there are some changes. And also, gh realised an official compatibility chart that says for wii, nothing rockband works with anything guitarhero and vice versa. you don't need a credit card to download songs, it uses the wii points system from the wii shop channel. also for the 20 free songs you will probably won't need anything.

as for guitar hero, you need to pay for it via wii shop point system. they give out some songs for free, but they aren't usually the popular ones. Rockband 2 has a much better dlc store so i'm getting that one.

It does get a little awkward with the yellow cymbal, but once you get used to it, its really not that bad. One you just adjust to that, there isn't really any difficulty with the kit. Beyond that, the kit works great on RB2, I really enjoy playing the drums with it.

There are only 4 notes (5, if you count bass pedal) on RB, regardless if you plug in WT or RB drums. You can simply choose not to use the orange cymbal, and just use the red, yellow, blue and green. Or, alternatively, the orange cymbal also acts as a blue pad, if that makes playing easier for you.
