  • this is the most deepest songs lupe made...love it....fnf^

  • Craziest song EVER!

My favorite song in hip hop.

    THIS IS REAL!

  • best song of this cd

  • i dont think anyone can say what lupe means except for lupe and it is incredibly arrogant to try just accept that everyone will see something slightly different in each lyric which is possibly what he wants?

  • he is being satire in some of lyrics

  • he is actually just describing michael young, a character he made up in his first album from the song the cool. the man in the grave is michael young and thats who he's describing in this song! look it up on some of his interviews

  • The Cool = his freshness. The positive.

The Game = the streets. The evil.

This is him personifying "the Game."

  • No all y'all mawfuckas is Wrong...sorry To say...

He's Speaking from the Perspective of the Devil,

    all the corrupt there of!....

the ultimate resistor!...."they love the darkness, i makes'em heartless"...c'mon guyz!

    stop the struggle out here...

  • he's speaking of the Game.

  • you can tell by the party with the baby. key word is trap

  • hes taking about michael young who's a fictional person he's created check it on google its sum really intresting stuff!!

  • @adanl The Game( Satan) realizing Michael’s thirst has decided to take him in as his next meal. He hooks Michael back up with his dream girl, who was The Streets, a down-ass ghetto broad.

    “Put You on Game”

Hes talking about the devil...He is rapping as the devil who while putting us up an knowledge does the same with Michael also...in the end of the Song

If you die, tell them that you played my game...

    say my name,

    'Cause I'm the...(Devil) [gunshot]

  • Father of hip hop :)

  • no u

  • ooooow shiiiiit, ill

  • He is personifying a gun. Listen closely

  • No, he's personifying the "Game".

The "Game" as in the street life, what happens on the streets. Violence, drug abuse, death, etc.

  • this song is nice,i like it when he said

I am the blood of this city,

    It's gas, water, and electricity,

    I'm it's gym, and it's math, and it's history,

    The gunshots in the class

And you can't pass if you're missin, G

    ............................that was sick

  • THATS NOT A PIC OF THE DEVIL THATS THE GAME iTS ON LUPES WEBSiTE

  • he personifyin the game in some sort or evil person?

  • No, not the game as in the rapper named "The game".

Think of it this way, of a drug dealer said "I am deep in the game". -- That is the kind of game he is talking about.

  • ye i know wat u mean...bt hes giving the game the image of a crooked person if u gets...like personifyin it..

  • stop.

    dont assume about this song.

go watch some interveiws of Lupe.. and he will explain what this song is about.

    "the devil" is wrong

    its the game.

this song can just relate to other things because thats how corrupt and evil the world is. but the song is about the game.

  • ok kan sumbody tell me hoo tha charictor iz in caisin tha cool hoo iz that ??? Cuz like i get that "cool" ta Lupe iz all tha bad stuff that ppl luv like weed an stuff but i dont undastand y u wood chas it like i kno that itz tha hustl metaphoricly but hooz chasin tha cool ?? u kno wut im sayin ?? like i dont get it

  • The game and the streets are metaphores for things that rappers galmorize in their muzic but they are really deadly in reality. The cool is a character lupe made up named michael young history and he wanted everything the streets and game promised so he gave his soul to her but she ends up screwing him over like everyone else she did. The cool is anyone lured in by the false promises of street life.

  • Wait, weed is "bad stuff"?

What are you 12 years old? Since when is weed considered "bad stuff".

Lol it ain't crack my nigga, weed is safer than alcohol and tobacoo....

  • Ive been looking for this track ever since I heard it on street kings

  • lyrically this song if off the hook, as far as an overall song its still good but not fantastic, I still enjoy it very much since it was great lyrics

  • if you die tell em that you played my game

i hope your bullet holes become mouths that say my name

    cuz i'm the...

  • COOL TRACK

  • Perfect

maby the best lyrics i eva heard.

    i cant stop listening

  • sorry childzplay141 but i thought that was obvious.

  • this song is about the game. one of the characters he talks about in his ablums.

the game is based off the realm game and how it is in real life but he used personification in his songs and described the game. the song is the game laughing in the beggining and smoking then lupe is rapping from the game's eyes. and btw he isnt the cool. the cool is another character :D

  • my frend is scared of this song

  • This is the best hip hop or rap song I have ever heard. Lupe employs so many literary techniques and meaningful symbols, all within a flawless flow over a sick beat. BEST RAPPER ALIVE. LUPE FIASCO is the cool. Let the idiots hype Lil Wayne, you know the guy will crash soon. Lupe will only get better, expect a lifetime of genius hip-hop from him.

  • Um how about 3 albums worth of genius hip-hop from him.hahahahaha.After his third he is more than likely to quit.Said so himself.

  • i JUST REALIZED THE GAME IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE DEVIL....

  • me 2!

  • greatest song ever. lyrics are insane. he deffinetly is as the same level as pac after this song.

  • wow....

  • level of pac he is officially a lyrical legend

  • not pac level but he'll get there

  • this shit is like 'pac on another level, this got the feelin' of pac with the lyrical ability of NaS...Lupe ain't my favorite but this shit's immaculate

  • @rade1809 Pac wasn't close to this dude. Fuck outta here!

  • (1:35)

    I am the American dream,

    The rape of Africa

    The undying machine,

    The overpriced medicine,

    The murderous regime,

    The tough guy's front,

And the one behind the scenes

  • The narrator is AIDS

  • LOL reminista, good point :O could be true

  • The Game and the Devil could be the same depending on what or how you see the Devil.

  • kmttt u fools - this is the Game - can people stop saying its devilish - listen 2 real recognise real u fools!!!

  • Basically what i got from this is that he is talking about the "game" the false statement of those who made it up saying that the "game" is about making money drugs and ruling all things around you. And from that it is just another trick of the devils i guess because it is just another trap because the game in reality is the devils game chasing false dreams

  • No...the game is the false foundation america is built upon. Hence Lupe saying "I am the american dream, the rape of africa(slavery, the undying machine, the overpriced medicine(self explanatory), the murderous regime(our army), the tough guys front and the ones behind the scene."

  • ACTUALLY IS THE "devil"

"THE GREATEST TRICK THE DEVIL EVER PULLED MAKING PEOPLE THINK HE DOES NOT EXIST"

    WAKE UP!!!!

  • Ok guy, I mean, the song is open to interpretation. The only person who knows the true meaning is Lupe himself. Its a great song, point blank.

  • wtf do you mean RAPSOURCE ?

  • Put you on "Game", you people are thinking too hard. It's just a song describing the character "Game". Don't think there are sublimal messages because you think the world is so corrupted.

  • damn, the metaphors are crazy, and no you stupid fanatic religion freaks it is not the devil get real the world is not all god and devil bro you are losers, the lines are purely art! the "game" yo i swear its like hes.. talking about power.. power yall just straight up power and what you can do with it.. what pride is and just deep only his mind can come up with

  • the DEVIL is putting you all up on game......

  • The game is the symbol for what the songs about, basically the game is talking through Lupe as you can see.

  • the devil is the narrator of the song ppl...the last couplet gives it away: If you die, tell them that you played my game

I hope your bullet holes become mouths that say my name,

    'Cause I'm the... [gunshot]

    "played MY game..."

played whose game? the devil's game..

  • Nope, the narrator is The Game.

  • no. just no. you fail miserably.

  • 1st off, lupe is the best mc now, 2nd off this song sends shivers down my spine every time i hear it, and fnf's top songs are

    1: Put You On Game

    2: The Coolest

    3: The Die

  • 1st off yal he's talking about the Devil in this song..."one of the most ancient of things and speaks every language"........HELLO! lol yal needa listen to the song

  • lol he does not mean the devil, he means the game, one fo hischaractersin the story! but i understand what u saying the game could be another name 4 the devil:D

  • thats a complex metaphor, he means the game is everywhere.

  • onebloodnomatch, he's talking about his character the game. LISTEN!

  • The "Game" is a negative thing that consist of drugs, money, greed, irresponsibility, etc...

  • this is in his storyline of the coolest and stuff he is taking the position of the game after he killed the cool

  • This song is about the devil; basically Lupe Fiasco is role playing, so the narrator is the devil.

  • uh...no but nice try. its about The Game and how he affects everyone

  • lol, lupe said in an interview that it's about the devil.

  • what interview? the deep voice in the background that goes "lemme put you on game" is found in 'the coolest' as well. don't make up interviews to give your ridiculous ideas substance. gimme a link to your 'interview'...

  • If you die, tell them that you played my game

I hope your bullet holes become mouths that say my name,

    'Cause I'm the...

Lupe Fiasco Sick!!!! Defo one of the sickest Emcees

  • One of the oldest most ancientest of things

Speak every single language on the planet nameen?

    shitttttttttt.

btw that pic is supposed to be the physical appearance of the game? shit looks scary.

  • game means money. he's talking about the love of money and how it makes ppl turn on each other

  • Do you folks really not know what he's talkin bout? He is basically saying that game is the drive toward all negativity also that things he speaks of are the result of chasing game.Like money greed politics commercial uses. Hence puttin u on game. Also the fact that he talks about such bogus things is becuz the game itself has no emotion and is not measured by fairness or equity, but by hustling and acquiring by any means. Basically sayin the game is the root of all evil.

  • Your absolutely right

  • looooooool u got it all wrong...

this song is based on the game charactor..from this album

and its the game speakin thru lupe

speakin to you about himself and what he has done to the people

    "They love my darkness,

    I make them heartless,

And in return they have become my martyrs

    fuck this is deep

  • he sayin Drugs are what is paying for everything in poor areas

  • I actually he's talking about drugs or money. Or possibly both. Drugs have been around for thousands of years, poets and song writers use to write about it but in hidden meanings. Drugs have also been a big factor on what goes on in Africa, they drug the poor kiddo's up to do what they do, make them heartless.

  • hahaha maybe ur right but i think he is talkin about both money and guns they both go along with the song Money is everywhere Guns are everywhere Money can rule the world Guns can rule the world So i think lupe is rappin about then switches to rappin about guns and goes bac and forth between the two of them money gun money gun etc. hey maybe im wrong
  • It could bro...but they are many lines that don`t match guns..(speak every single language on the planet)-example.

  • the reason i have become this praised,(Money) people will sell their family, kill friends for money,

  • he is not talking about a gun or the game, if you really listen he is talking about money wer in the hell you get a gun, what does the rape of africa, has to do wit a gun,its about the highs and lows of money, the love of money is the root of all evil,so wen u think about it,wen he says "gas water and electricity" how is that talking about "THE GAME" or a gun, is all about what rappers and other people live for, people rap for money, it resizes in the heart of all artists

  • Lupe is talkin about a gun

    just listen

    idiots

  • There is no need to call people idiots, and he's actually not talking about a gun, he's talking about "The Game" which he has personified and made it into an actual character for the whole concept of "The Cool" which consist of "The Streets" and "The Game" and how they affect another character named "Micheal Young"(My Cool young History) and mad him "The Cool".

  • he is talking about money people

  • Your an idiot,lupefiasco. com

Look up his story on the cool,he is not talking about guns. What pearlfekt07 is saying is true.

  • "Dont you know that i run this place, and i've begun this race" does actually in my opinion go back to Adam and Eve as it is stated in the description box.The serpent tricked Eve into eating from the tree and so thats why he goes onto say that "one of the oldest and the most acient-est of things" because such evil has been around since that time period and its grown as the world has grown.

  • Hmm personally,i think it speaks money, just *my* way of seeing it.

*don`t you know that i run this place *money rules everything*,and i`ve begun this race *without economy,a society cannot develop*

*One of the oldest and most ancient-est of things*-Money,has existed for a very long time.*Speak every single language on the planet y`all mean?*-In each country, their are different types of coins/bills etc.

Im not stating your wrong or right, since this is just what i believe, peace.

  • i think he is talking about money*(SORRY)

  • In the beginning its the devil himself smoking Weed. And yeah i think he is talkin about Adam and Eve.I think he is talkin about the Illuminati people running the whole world.

"I've been in the poem of many a poet,

And I reside in the art of many a artist

Some of your smartest have tried to artictulate

    My whole part in this

But they're fruitless in their harvestin'

The drow grows from my footsteps

I'm the one that they follow,

I am the one that they march with"

    taking about the bible

  • Then he even goes to say "speak every single language on the planet"."The Game"(an Evil presence) will do whatever it takes to get you to stray away from whats right.

  • true!

this song is about the evil that has an influence on mankind heart.

  • So in my opinion, No, he isnt talking about money even though i can see why people would think that. "The Game" as depicted in this song and the album is indeed an evil presence that will use many avenues (including money) to result in the destruction of another. "The Game" tempts and persuades people to do wrong.

  • But what mixes up my statement is that...well the (GAME`S) description by lupe dosen`t entirely speak about money, its just like a piece of a puzzle of a 100.Which you already said, and that you can go read on LUPEFIASCO. COM(for those of you who wanna know about it a little bit more).

  • bzup9mm you are right, if one would research alittle behind the concept of "The Cool" you would learn what Lupe's really speaking on

  • *I am the american dreaam, the rape of africa the undying machine, the overprice medicine, the murderous regime, the tough guy front, and the one behind the scene!*-And this is why Rappers and producers such as JZ and marly named him the greatest story teller of our time.Too bad he lost the Lyricist of the year award...i forgot who won.Anyone know?

  • GUYS GUYS GUYS

"The Game" is a character. Didn't ANY of you click on the link in the info box???

  • the drow grows from the footsteps i am the one they follow...speak evry single language on the earth...omg cant say how sick lupe is quench your thirst on my elixers....baptized outa scareface pool

  • hes to deep mayne dame..

  • The song is, with clarity and with no doubt, about the devil.

  • "high in my trap" yep, the devil indeed, damn he's nasty im not gonna front

  • In my opinion he is not only talkin about a lot of different things: politics, drugs, guns, money, religion, diamonds, sex, leaders, the street life: the things he normally raps about but say watever u want about the song

  • Think about it, Jesus was betrayed by judas for money,it is the darkness and evil of it, Ceaser was also betrayed by brutus for money he wanted the the "chambers of the kings" that power, to rule to be rich, "theY become heartless" for it

  • just example of one story to another, i know people that done wrong to others cuz of it. its only human nature, the ones who think its wrong will stand above and strive successful anyway and push harder with what they do in life. the only way to lose to to give up.

  • In my opinion he's prolly talkin about music itself becuase music does influence violence, betrayel, love, loyalty. music is one of the oldest things, and its in every single language but thats just my opinion

  • game=making money illegal aka selling,killing,prostituion...corruption= aka hes saying "let me show you what the game is" saying is been around for every and every country "does it"

  • you guys are misinformed lupe is talking about the devil he even said it himself the whole reason behind that song come on you guys listen to it dmx did something like this with that damien charecter

  • LIKE BUTCHCAS16 SAYS he is talking about money i mean think about it,

I am the blood of this city,

    It's gas, water, and electricity,

I'm it's gym, and it's math, and it's history, now tell me that aint talkin about money, money has put us in slavery and took us out of slavery( quite as its kept).

  • truely deep especially the desrciption of the game.

  • My Opinion:

He's talkin' about the devil. It seems the some are afraid of the fact that there's a devil. Can't be talkin' bout a GUN, then these bars wouldn't make sense at all:

"I've been in the poem of many a poet,

And I reside in the art of many a artist...

Some of your smartest have tried to artictulate

    My whole part in this

But they're fruitless in their harvest"

  • He is talking about money not the devil look

    wen he says

"I've been in the poem of many a poet,

And I reside in the art of many a artist...

Some of your smartest have tried to artictulate

    My whole part in this

But they're fruitless in their harvest"

everybodt wants money, "some of the smartest tried to articulate,(counterfit)my whole part in this but they're fruitless in their harvest,(people alwasy get caught trying to counterfit money ya digg) no matter what they can track you down

  • Starscream274,

Money can fit a lot of the lyrics of this song, however, it just doesn't fit for others. How do these bars relater to money:

"I taught them better than that

I taught them aim for the head

And hope they never come back"

    or:

"I am the safe haven for the rebel runaway and the resistor

    Ihe trusted misleader,

    The number one defender"

Just a thought, not disputing your opinion homie. This is why I enjoy Lupe's music...It makes you think. Stay up!

  • For the line of *i taught*.

if i understand, its how people would kill for profit, while having money as an inspiration.Example:colonization of north America, kill the first nations to control the territory for profit.

And your right, his music does make you think, its the reason why i enjoy his music myself.

*Speak every single language on planet,y`all mean?*..love his metaphors.

That`s just what i think though,

  • all of yall are stupid he is talking in third person about bieng a GUN. Its is obvious i mean even listen to the gun shots. THink a gun. i lit=sten to this song 239 times on my ipod

  • you stupid ass nigga you ignorant, hah the way u talk if you was bacc then dealing wit slavery you would have put the chains on yo self. anyways what the fuck does a gun has to do wit the rape of africa, it was all about money you dumb wit, we in slavery, to better the fucking white americans, OH damn i didnt know a gun had that much power of movement, how the hell you think guns wer made, the cost, everything is built on Money, to buy the sounds u hear in the baccground of the song takes money

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

the rebels in africa killing people.....raping woman, using their weapons to put fear in them,

the slave trade what did the europeans come with to africa???? hmmmm idk WEAPONS! obviously the african tribes with spears and arrows couldnt fight a rifle....they tried but as every other country conquered like the americas failed. so yeah your the ignorant one listen to the lyrics deeper.

  • he is a straight up beast

  • for everybody who thinks he's talkin about religion the game devil ur wrong if u really listen to the song an wat he's talkin about u would knoe that the song is all about money....money been around forever....the slaves, black market, oldest most ancient thing speak every language....money its wat rule the world.

  • The Game looks just like I pictured him

  • kick ass song, thats all there is to it

  • mane to me he da best rapper alive cuz he dont rap about bullshit i dont care if yall think its sum otha nigga i say its him nd jay z at da top rite now

  • One of the oldest, most ancient-est of things

Speak every single language on the planet, y'all mean?

bet hes talking bout the devil

  • lol dude he's talking bout "the game" who is a character in his story bout michael young history (my cool young history)who is "the cool" and "the streets" listen to tha song real recongnize real

  • this rap is darktide asheron's call?

  • money is a good guess but i think it's about drugs. weed in particular. it's universal and it's everywhere just like his lyrics suggest.

  • where'd you get the pic from

  • Its the Devil

  • its the game

  • you know, i really think it's about your mom

  • I strongly believe that the lyrics made by Lupe represent money. Money is the sole purpose for violence in this world. Many parts of the song point to the idea also. "Through the back alleys

And the black markets,Through the mazes of the queens" He is talking about the same money runs through all these places. "One of the oldest, most ancient-est of things

Speak every single language on the planet" Money is universal and needs no language to be understood. Just a thought may not be right....

  • yeah i think its money too

  • He's talking 'bout The Game ._.

  • I've been in the poem of many a poet,

And I reside in the art of many a artist the devil for sure

  • Yo this song like already said is about Lupe's character the game. If you didnt know many of the songs are part of a concept theme that lupe made up on his last album. The story is about the boy from He said She said, and his encounter with the three other characters the game and the streets(talked about in the song the coolest) and the cool, all signified through differnet songs and the three seperate pics on his album cover. Wanna know more message me!

  • its a metaphor for the word "evil" or "hate"

  • no, but ur name is

  • His symbol in the middle is the symbol for Allah in arabic, pretty cool looking.

  • you mean the gold one that says lupe fiasco

  • yeah, he designed it to look like it, it's awesome.

  • Realize how many rapers are rapping about "the game", "game" etc. Compare this song to lyrics of every song witch is about "game". Remember the lyrics " thesee fools are my fuel so i make them cool" That's why commercial and fake rappers are so famous and have got a lot of money.

    Peace.

  • i am the american dream.. nice lyrics

  • he rapping like the devil

  • damn i know someone who is just like this guy, not the whole garden of eden thing but what he does and how he victimizes people through trickery

  • people....

realise that the story of the cool is only so many songs.

think of it like a movie, in only words.

    =D

  • People say he's rapping as the Devil and others are Saying he's rapping as "The Game"character, and Actually both Answers are Correct, because lupe is so lyrically ill and Deep, that he made this song 2 be up for debate on purpose and that 2 answers are absolutely right!

  • and your purposely retarded.

    it *Is* the game.

if your knew the cool CD you'd know the story.

such as I now do. it's too fucking "cool" to NOT know it, and what your talkin about.

now don't get me wrong...everything about the game is evil. but is that character himself the devil?

nah he represents his cause, and evil ways.

    it's simple.

  • "one of the oldest most ancientest of things, speak every singly language on the planet"

    its the devil

  • see what I said above (I'm backing you up in a sense.

  • what he said

  • It's both. The characters are just metaphors for society as a whole. Duh, it's about The Game, but ask yourself what he represents.

Lupe is explaining the temtation of teh Devil through his character, The Streets and The Game.

  • Smoke a spliff n listen to this ..... Lupe is fukin sick

  • When I heard this, i said "oh, Shit"

  • The rivers should flow with liqour,

Quench your thirst on my elixers

    thats tiight shit. also....

baptise them in the water out of scareface pool, and feed em from the table that held the corleones food.

  • ur mom

  • man the Game should at least put down a verse on this track and I'm talking about the rapper not the character++++++++

  • Why should some shitty rapper get on Lupe's song?

  • take that back

  • to be honest with all of you... I kind of think he's talking about the devil ... so I do think that image fits this song

  • On lupe's last album, he made a story that is called "the cool" It's about the rise and fall of a guy name Michael Young History. Two other characters in the story are known as Streets, and the Game. This song is about Game, one of the characters of the cool. It has nothing to do with the devil exept that Game was spawned the same day that Satan, or the snake, tricked Adam and Eve into deceiving God and eating the forbidden apple. That's all.

  • creepy ass pic, best song on the album

  • If u guys who don't know what the he means by the Street the Cool and the Game and want to know just look on his web site and find out what he means. Plus it really is not that hard to understand. Go check it out it's pretty deep.

  • I am the American dream,

    The rape of Africa

    The undying machine,

    The overpriced medicine,

    The murderous regime,

    craZZZZYY!!!

  • YALL ALL WRONG ITS REPRESENTING THE GAME "the deciet, evil, misleading", The cool"ppl try to be cool end up dead", the streets "the ghettos, slums, the traps" all tied to gether look at his cover and the 3 objects thats wat they are

  • nigga read before you reply to people.

  • This is an awesome song. I love it and I listen to it everyday. I strongly believe he is personifying the gun- pay attention to the lyrics and you might be able to confirm my notion.

  • i love this song

  • and not just the meaning or story to this song, cuz the song itself explains the game and the sin of the game itself or whatever...

i mean the whole story of the CD itself.

please people i'm down and i want in on this shit.

    whats up?

  • Okay not to be a noob with my boy "loops" music here...i have this CD burt, and i bump to this shit alot, well used to havent in a bit...

now about all these Characters and meanings and messeges of this CD...what is the story here?

Please this is real talk, i'm not dumb just make it simple cuz i'm a fan and i'm interested.

  • It's a simple story that he is making up, but the interesting thing about it is that he is making it as if these characters truly exist. The Cool for example, don't you see a bunch of people who think they are all that, and then end up dead? The Streets is where all the drugs take place. The women roam the streets, and it's cruel.
