  • "And your Lord taught the honey bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.

    (Noble Quran,Surat an-Nahl(The Bee), 68-69)

  • do you get high if you smoke it?

  • no, its Honey made by bees and not Honey Oil from cannabis

  • OOOO I want I want !!! I love Honey ! =)

  • why no propolis on your frames? Did you already scrape it off?

  • what was the stuff they scraped off at the start, was that the bees wax?

  • yes thats the wax caps they put on the honey

  • thanx.

  • looool nice =P

now me an' my friends can take 30 of 30

YAy! THANKS for da video =)

  • on average a year what would be the yield off each hive??

  • my grand parents harvested there own honey

its an amazing process to see how it happens

its more humane this way too as hundreds of years ago the intire live sock of bees would have to be exterminated to retrive the honey combs

now they use smoke to let the bees know farmers are taking the combs so the they ether fly the hive of go to the bottom

nowdays not many bees are harmed in the process and they make more than enough honey so we just get the surplus

    so everyone is happy :)

  • That's a lot of honey!

  • I am eating my first honeycomb right now and boy it is delish!

  • This video was brilliantly done, the music and choreography was absolutely a pleasure to watch.

  • can you eat a natural honeycomb? say you actually did stick your hand in a beehive (got stung, whatever) and pulled out a honeycomb, could you eat it? would it be covered in pollen like in this video?

  • i just found out that the stuff peeled off the comb was a beeswax cap?

  • Yes.

  • ive sen people eat wax honey and everything

  • yes. My mother bought some last year. It's quite delicious actually. If you check out a local farmers market you might be lucky enough to find a beekeeper selling some.

  • the "spinny thingy" is called an extractor when you get the frames you brush the bees off a lot of people use a special suit when doing this because it makes the bees mad that your taking their food id shut all the entrances to the hose or put a screen over them so the bees dont try to come claim there honey

  • BZZZZZZZZZ honeybee honeybee! Lovely.

  • How do you keep the bees from entering your house? Bees mean bee stings and this woman is barefoot. A barefoot is a good place to get a beesting.

  • The Bees are kept out of the house by first keeping them out of the "souper" before it is removed from the hive. The souper is the box full of frames of honey, and the bees are kept out by putting an "excluder" on the entrance a few days before the honey is going to be extracted. Then the "souper" and all the frames and honey can be safely taken away a couple of days later.

  • very tasty, how much equipment do you need to actually do that? i must know!

  • well. to raise the bees you need a hive box, multiple boxes with multiple frames, and you need a honey circulator, the machinery that spins and the honey from the hive frames are drawn out from the hive, and bottles, for bottling the delicious honey =D

  • awesome and educational video! You should make some more bee movies, i will watch profusely! :)

  • how man boxes/frames did it take to fill that many jars? Great video by the way!

  • wow love this song AMAZING

  • I liked the camera person's feet on the table. Thank you for sharing.

  • We are homeschooling, (kindergarten), and this will be perfect. Do most people extract their honey with the centerfuge? What did you scrape off in the early part of the video? And...maybe this is silly...do you have to purify it or cook it? Thanks for posting this and the song is fantastic. :-)

  • The only silly question is one to which you already know the answer {:^)

No, there's no need to treat honey, as the bees go through what would be an impossibly complex task for us - they collect nectar and treat it with enzymes to make it reistant to moulds etc, then part-dry it to further increase its resistance. No need to refrigerate it either {:^)

I don't keep bees myself, but I would imagine those are wax cell caps being scraped off - correct me if I'm wrong, folks !

  • You are right, hedgewolf! That 'rake' is a uncaper. You take the wax cap off the honey cells to release the stored honey. You then can take that wax, put it in a solar melter and make wax candles. A great hobby and one that is much needed to keep the food on our tables!!

  • The song is called The Bee-song

  • By Arthur Askey, I believe

  • na its made by cusains mattthew and arthur guinness

  • excellent video !

  • Darling video...how long did it take to extract those frames with a hand crank? What song is that...too cute!

  • we love you

  • I LOVE this and desperately want to show it to my preschool class when we learn about bees!

  • Hi

I'm a beekeeper too... Congratulations, nice movie...

Good luck, on the next honey harvest
