Did a show in a band when I was 16 opening for the Cryin' Shames when they were hot. The great disc jockey Dick Biondi hosted. PA went out just as we were being introduced! Art Roberts on WLS was a great dj too. I remember a lot of these bands, especially the Shadows of Knight. I also remember going to WLS and watching through the window as the djs worked. You could hold requests up to the glass on paper and they would play them. How things have changed.
The Buckinghams--Great chain of hits. Then they lost Jimmy Guercio to Chicago. Likely responsible for the brass rock band trend. I think Al Kooper was inspired by them in forming BS&T.
Chicago--great until Terry Kath died, Guercio left and David Foster became their producer.
Shadows of Knight--I heard "Oh Yeah" and thought they should have been run out of Chicago on a rail.
Ides of March--Chapter one in Jim Peterik's path of reinvention.
Wow!!! The intro features The Rolling Stones briefly. They actually recorded part of "Out of our Heads" in Chicago as well as London and Hollywood. I read that off their album cover a long time ago. Great video.
The Ides of March was huge in Washington DC with that Vehicle song. I was in the Army and didn't know until now they were from Chicago.
