Oh man. I used to manage kennels and I've had to do this once with a husky who was just TERRIFIED by it. I think it's only because the owners and I sprayed the huskies with the hose when they were misbehaving though, so I believe that the particular dog that I was washing thought it was being punished or something.

I work with dogs and sometimes giving them bathes both breaks your heart and makes you laugh. But its all a matter of comforting the poor things. Huskies are the WORST when giving bathes, particularly because of the almost human sounding cries.

Unfortunately my little Arthur not only does he have an issue with baths but he also hates water in general(he only likes to drink it).Even if a single water drop falls on him, he'll run to hide in his little house...He justs hates water and can't stand getting wet,not even his paws.When I tried to bathe him the last time..oh boy..He was crying, going back and forth,he even jumped on me several times trying to escape from the monster-bathtub.It was a disaster.. :|

i thought my husky was terrified of water he runs past the bathroom anytime he gets near it, then one day he broke off his lead, and i saw him run full sprint and jump right into the river and swam around with the kids. Was running out, jumping in, going nuts. It took a good 2 months for river smell to leave him. Luckily i dont ever have to bathe him because he never ever smells, its great, hair is another matter.

But no matter where in the world you're in, dogs need to be bathed or else dirt and god knows what else will build up inside their fur, especially for dogs with thick coats like huskies, malamutes & chows for example. They'll complain of course, but as long as it's done right, it's not going to hurt them one bit.

I have 2 huskies myself, and yes they are supposed to be bathed at least 2 times a year wihtout damaging their coat, but if they get dirty playing with mud occasional light showers are ok. brushing your dog does not remove dirt build up inside their thick coat.

I am an animal lover and animal rights activist. I have a Husky and he HATES MY GUTS when I bathe him, but he is pleasantly surprised afterwards when he feels fresh and clean and all the itchiness and tangles are gone from his skin/fur. This is a normal part of caring for an animal. It is often the most spoiled and beloved doggies that are the biggest drama queens when it comes to baths because they know how to pull at their loving human's heart strings!

No you do NOT wash your dog every week, it causes skin problems and dryness. once a month is fine- and this isnt abuse I can tell you EVERY HUSKY I have ever washed- has howled like this, including my own three huskies! Many huskies are born with a natural fear of water- with good reason. The arctic. Frigid water = death in most cases. Kaiser is a BEAUTIFUL show of the breed! Huskies as a breed don't like water much. My mom used to breed them, and most would cry and make a huge fuss anytime it was bath time. Not all, but most. Of course, they have no problem with the water if it's in the ground being mud, and they can dig giant holes and throw it all over the place and cover themselves in it, they love the mud.

They were used by the inuits for transport, and huskys knew that if they went over cracked ice they would fall into the water wich meant certain death.
