nice to see a video of this. my school is doing this for our winter concert. i love holst. especially scence our marching band is doing the planets this year =)
Lol now my teacher, bless her soul, gave me another of James Curnows works, Fantasia di Falcone, which she wants me to play in four months. I'm screwed lol
Wow, they're great! The only two things are this is a british march, so it should be a bit slower than they are playing it. Also, I couldn't hear any clarinet one part! They need a higher pitch to counteract the lower one! Wonderful playing and conducting though!
This would have been a lot better if there was more euphonium in the first song. And there was slight rushing the second time through. The clarinet solo in the beginning of two was too soft, it could have been brought out more, and the solos at the end could have been played better, otherwise it was a great interpretation of an amazing piece.
Good job for the most part... I just wish the euphonium solo was brought out a bit more. Just one second crit. It feels a little rushed in the beginning. everything else was great though. (I played this song in highschool, one of my favorites next to godzilla eats las vegas :p learning a euphonium in 3 months for several solos is lotsa fun!)
This is played very good here. I'm playing this song in my band right now. (I play percussion) I've recently picked up Clarinet, so I decided to try the 6/8 part of the song and I've found it quite fun actually!
euphornium could be slightly louder during the solo, and yes with tuning and and vibrato, otherwise, very well done!

Is it just me or did the conducteer seem to be a little off in the first movement?
Bandgeek440 1 year ago
@Bandgeek440 I think it was the band- because if you notice, the tuba at the beginning was late to the downbeat.

I think the cornet solo is a bit flat, and the drums weren't loud enough... but very nice

whats the name of the 2nd movement?

A Song Without Words ("I'll love my love") I think? My band played the suite at VHHS. I play Baritone, first chair, and we did movement 1 and 4.

at 5:49, is that a recorder?? i though i heard a flute but it looks as though after the solo the girl puts a wooden recorder down.
altrokkr6 3 years ago
i believe its an Eb clarinet, which looks like a large recorder. It's smaller than the Bb clarinet bu larger than a standard recorder.

Great song. I play this on trumpet in the school band, and I have some trouble playing it up the octave, I usually drop it down.
987DanMan987 3 years ago
It only goes to a trumpet A and G above the staff... not that hard.
