It's more so the fact that the armour on the axe robot is weak. I tried the crusher on other robots after I made this video and found out it wasn't really all that powerfull. As a result I have demolished them both and I hope to build better versions.
It depends on what batteries you use. If you can find a shop that sells cheap batteries that aren't of a big brand like Duracell or Energizer, then use those. Altough the cheap batteries don't last as long, they keep the weight down. The cheap batteries will make the battery box a bit heavier than a rechargeable one, but not by much.
The same way as the drive, I use 2 XL motors, geared for more speed. Basically, a large gear is attatched to the motor which turns a smaller gear. The smaller gear makes the axe move at the speed necessary.
Looks like your crusher was more effective than mine!
I really like these two. I only ever had five complete (fully functional) robots at a time at most - I had to keep switching the power functions between robots, thus I made them easy to access and remove.
The battery boxes are great! Just like the rechargeable ones but cheaper! Also, the batteries I use are cheap ones from a nearby pound shop, so they're really light. The Crusher only weighs 580g!
By the way, I've been wondering for a while now how you get your worm gear powered lifting arms to lift. I've tried several times, but the mechanism keeps breaking under the pressure of another robot.
Google "sariel worm gear technic" and click the first link. The top picture is the one I use in B2, Levitator, Reaper...others too! It's very effective. Usually two on one axle.
Oo. That's interesting about the weight. I was thinking of doing a more lightweight LRW.
the axe bot reminds me of deadblow, because the hammer comes up as fast as it comes down
