I never said there was. all I said was the characters name is Tewi. ZUN named her Tewi, don't blame me. You can't spell half of his characters names in the japanese dictionary, does that mean the names he gave the characters are wrong? (Alice, Cirno, Nazrin, Prismrivers, Flandre, Patchouli...)
You can say the same when that fat old white guy calls hyundai, hunday in the car commercial. Its like hes too senile to say hyu-n-da-i (or hes racist).
That's just how Katakana works, it's used for mostly foreign names and words. It's not a "bastardized attempt". Wi is just an obsolete thing, I guess it's similar to "olde".
