  • ok but the original is so much better. little effort goes into making these tracks. the instrumentals are simple loops, made in a few minutes or so. the rest is sampled. nonetheless, billie makes the track good. she has a great voice. listen to her originals, the music complements her vocals much better.

  • Also search for the original of Billie Holiday.

  • When it comes to music like this, i think more of the vibe it puts out then what genre it is.

  • i wont your mind sometimes

  • Hungarian letters are very beautiful. Really special language.

  • 1:59

    sick

  • The lyrics are from a translation of a classic Hungarian song, "Szomorú vasárnap," AKA the suicide song.

  • @lelandrb no

  • Ilyen fasz nevet egy zenének adni xd,,,,

  • This is a nice song, kinda sounds like dub, little bit of classical, 50's maybe? With a smathering of classy breakbeat/ trance. Pretty sad though though.

  • @Yellobes1 trance doesnt use odd time signatures, and venetian snares doesnt use 4/4

  • @Yellobes1 no, it's more like breakcore idm thrash folk electric dub noise polka ska polka. learn your shit or don't post your own differing opinion. WORD

  • I hear requiem for a dream strings, billy holiday voice.. who knows where the breakbeats and the spacey background sounds come from?

  • @znubzz188 from Venetian Snares

  • Please don't associate V-snares with dubstep. Funk writes in crazy signatures that are way over the heads of dubstep artists. Such as 7/4, 11/8, etc.

  • @BaRRicade120 And some absurdly hard ones to understand, such as the 9/8 and the 21/8. Honestly, talk about creativity!

  • breakcore avant garde!

  • Shutup butt lickers this song rules

  • Breakcore was a small scene. No it was the genra that stay noisy but quit for 6 years now. "Greg hates car culture" check it out. its was made from samples from car commercials. Also done by mister Aaron Funk here.

  • @rhtb4theeyeblnks Dude, you got any recommendations for stuff similar to Greg Hates Car Culture, Number Seven And Shitfuckers?

  • Akartam kommentelni de inkább bazd meg!

  • How about we all calm down, make some peanut buttah samiches, and talk this shit out. No amount of peanut buttah samiches will ever help me like dub though. Its all the same whommp whomp. Its like i'm on airdusterz when i listen to it. Fuck that noise. Venitian Snares and Benn Jordan FTW!

  • This is totally not dub Rtard.

  • @MrSadmaster Laugh. My. Fucking. Arse off.

I'm not genrist, but who in their right mind would call this dub?

That's like calling Beethoven metal :L

  • DIOCRISTO

  • LEGJOBB!

  • Fuck genres

  • @BukkakeNation truth.

  • @BukkakeNation <3, and much of it bro.

  • puta, densiisimaaaaaaa!!

  • first time i've heard this....god damn this is the shit! bad ass!!!

  • I've got an idea. how about everyone stops putting labels on music and start enjoying it for what it is: awesome.

  • @modernmusty thats a laby too hahaha, as long as u use language to describe music ur labelling, maybe we should just stop talking about music at all. don't opinions make us hate anyway? omg thats an opinion too... SHIT!

  • Comment removed

  • @modernmusty go listen to death metal and re think what you said

    btw i like death metal

  • @modernmusty shut up, you're just trying to sully the good name of breakcore idm thrash folk electric dub noise polka ska polka by saying that that isn't the best kind of music. only breakcore idm thrash folk electric dub noise polka ska polka is awesome. And even a song that sounds like breakcore idm thrash folk electric dub noise polka ska polka, but isn't filed under that label and argued about for about 4 years, is not going to be awesome. Learn your shit, or go listen to Justin Bieber. WORD

  • @modernmusty I've got an idea. I'm freezing, daddy. Can you put on your scout master uniform and build me a roaring fire so we do not die?

  • @modernmusty Part of the fun in music is learning and identifying genres. That said, this is definitely a breakcore album.

  • this song is not dub

  • this song is chilling god damn.

  • Damn dub is in everything now. The heavy baseline seems to becoming more and more popular. Mabey those teens are On to something

  • @ navojoARISTOCRAT Thanks. You're absolutely right.

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • @TheAPC91 Couldn't agree with you more!! Dubstep is terrible...

  • @TheAPC91 I laughed at your comment. Dub is some sort of reggae, out of wich dubstep evolved.

  • @EpicTomato Your stupid as a motherfucker man. You have zero percent of knowledge. I studied music, and i can tell you what the fuck dub is! Reggae was right. But fact is: Dub is exactly what you are hearing here. Slight Breakbeats, with minimal melodys. It evolved out of reggae, but thats not what it is anymore. DUB is an important element of Intelligent Dance Music(IDM)! You can suck my dick and i spend you a coke afterwards, if you find me one reggae song with basslines like this one!

  • @TheAPC91 Dude seriously calm down. Where on earth did you study music, high school? You sound mildly like a pissed off teenager.

    ...u mad bro?

  • @kensabeast9 Cry me a river, and listen to some skrillex you dumbass. Stick your nose up your own ass...Whoops i forgot, "U mad bro" = MEME FAG, wich automaticly means: Your one of those that hang out infront of their computers 24 hours a day. BYE

  • @TheAPC91 Good call, dude. That dude is a faggot. Let's all get our blood pressure worked up and get in arguments rather that appreciating the music.

  • @TheAPC91 First tag 'Breakcore'. Go back to school.

  • @TheAPC91 Actually this/Venetian Snares is IDM/Breakcore. Though he did do a Dub song as Snares (which was awesome).

  • @TheAPC91 Dub is a style of Caribbean music that uses synths and heavy basslines, and dubstep is a sub-genre of UK Garage. True dubstep is nothing short of an artform.

  • This is the Original Soundtrack when you're building up a bomb

  • @AtBunkergateSeven what ??? !! how dare you ?!

  • @gmanhaxor

    I didn't say anything.

  • Diamanda Galas does a fine rendition of Gloomy Sunday, check it out!

  • Here is the hungarian original of "Glommy Sunday"

    watch?v=HAzJ_7CeWbc

  • this is a rework. the original song is called gloomy sunday.

  • great job man ! :)

  • Why Venetian Snares? What does it means?

  • @ladymosconi

what does anything fucking mean; . . . it means it's good fucking musique

  • rossz csillag.... you know what i mean - is after all the years still my fav VS album. so deep, wonderful and dramatic. or to quote tiny mix tapes: "After a handful of years in the popular underground limelight, I believe Aaron Funk has created something bigger than himself. " love it!

  • i told my friends my favorite song is Öngyilkos Vasárnap by Ventian Snares

they think im cultured in forgein music now :3

  • @Gr1zz3m LOL :D

Btw...just to know: 'Öngyilkos vasárnap' means 'Suicidal Sunday'.

It's a twist of the "original" English translation 'Gloomy Sunday'. :)

  • @MortuusDiabolus I pronounced it "Orna-ga-slopally Varsky-plops"

  • -Aaron Funk listening to billie holiday- this is alright...but....it needs... something........ I know..DRUMS!

  • what cd is this

  • aw, snap, I love gloomy sunday, my prayers are answered a remix :o

  • Amazing

  • to do a mix in 7 for a producer is admirable, to do an entire album sounds a bit boring

  • does anyone know the name of the original billy holiday song

  • @jjjohnnyjonesjr Gloomy Sunday

  • Gloomy Sunday?

  • i felt like i was in another world while listening to this song..

  • i love the hungarian tittles, and the sounds aswell!

  • holy......fucking......shit.this is one eerie but amazing mutha.

  • It's fun...The really original gloomy sunday (which has been made by Rezső Seress) is on youtube, like a fucking parody. Like: The hungaryan suicide song. ( its because a lot of hungarian people commited suicide hearing that.) Youtubers make a fucking joke out of hungarians. But without this country, there would be no version of this song, neither this whole album, by venetian snares. I like this version too by the way.

  • @keddenator I hate to break it to you but Hungary is a shit hole.

  • @LiNaK37 Why?

  • @keddenator Hungarians besides their current politics are one of the best nations that I've met and their culture is so great. I've been cycling cross Budapest and around Balaton for 17 day last year and it's been my best summer ever. I think I completely understand Venetian Snares about how he felt there.

  • @steshystesh Cool story bro, actually I'm being serious that is pretty awesome.

  • anyone who dislikes this should be tracked down and murdered for high levels of stupidity

  • @boardsdecanada hahahahaha. have at me, you weeaboo faggot.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl "come at me bro." internet tough guys...

  • @swearinz no, HAVE AT ME.

  • @swearinz the stupid pluck was picking on it at first

  • @swearinz the only internet tough guy is boardsdecanada

  • Rossz csillag ALATT született, nem Allat =D (y)

  • absolute fucking tune

  • I drink out of my fancy cup when i listen to this

  • Weird ass song, but nice beats!

  • *how did these downsyndrome kids get into my studio*

  • RIP original artist, committing suicide in 1968 this track was banned from radio stations all over the world, people felt at the time of this release that it was the cause of a flood of suicides and suicide attempts. Beautiful song though, it's on my all time top favorites list.

  • right guys... im going to make your life ten times as good as it already was, look for and artists called worlds end girlfriend.

  • Öngyilkos Vasárnap = Suicidal Sunday.

  • So weird how the two pieces of music just mix so well. I love the violin or whatever it is (I'm not an instrumental genius obviously). And Billie Holiday's voice seems really ghostly and perfect for the whole mood.

  • This is my favorite track off the CD

  • Reply: 1.did I say 'racist?' I said, in my opinion, the song did no justice to the African-American experience.

2.A song that causes suicides!? Come on...

    3. you don't actually know why the artist (VS) picked Holiday's vocals, do you?

4.you're not clear when you say "...up for debate, but this is not." What do you mean by "this"?

5.you say "...reach that conclusion?" reach what conclusion...be more specific.

  • Pure insult to a great artist like Billy Holiday...you can`t do justice to the African-american experience, which Billy`s music is so incredibly bound by...did you come from an unfathomable and unspeakable racist oppression...I don`t think so and your overdub just proves it. Please leave Billy alone!!!!!

  • @MrRealmusicplease

I don't think he was trying to sound racist. He chose Gloomy Sunday to add to the mood of the album itself, (What works more for a melancholy album than a song famous for causing suicides?) most likely picking Holiday's version for the vocals because it was the English version he liked best. Whether he butchered a song as an excuse to show off or made it enjoyable to a different audience is up for debate, but this is not.

Although seriously, how did you reach that conclusion?

  • I would class V Snares as Experimental, leaning towards Breakcore, not Dubstep.

    But that's just me :)

When I die, I want to die listening to this.

  • Creepy, cool, sad, epic, This song is perfect.

  • I'm the only 1 who has goose bumps all over after listening to this?

  • @anibax oh no. damn i found this pearl on a sunday and spent the whole day listening to this on replay... hadn't slept in 3 days and was in a pretty dark mood but on monday morning i felt like i was born again (maybe it was because i finally slept)

  • @AStonnerDarkly it is amazing how good music can make you feel!! ^_^

  • THIS IS LIKE COCOROSIE STUCK IN A JUNGLE!!! LOLL

  • so sick

  • Kjempe kjempe bra!

  • Damn, he should do more dubsteppy songs like this.

  • love this album !!!!

    he's so crazy, but he's a genius !!!

  • this sounds a bit like dubstep :O

  • @MrOwn1 no, no it doesn't at all

  • @cmunoz9390 well of course it doesn't sound like your shitty generic wobble-bass-filled dubstep, it sounds like old dubstep, GOOD dubstep

  • @MrOwn1 Ah I see, like 2 step? Old school style

  • @cmunoz9390 exactly

  • Suicide sunday... Niiiiice

  • the nu jazz of mr scruff meets the professionalism and obsessive offbeat snares of aphex twin. oh, and billy holiday.

  • @Intelectual95

Sir, just because you passed an unspecified IQ test doesn't mean your tastes in music are inherently better.

I took four AP classes in high school (and a fifth in college) and I revere a band whose name spells out the word "rape."

    Just saying...

  • 19 people who disliked this song should be sent to mars with yellow rubber duckies to play with, FU!

  • mezzanine quality,

  • I ask you all to see Asharah's video here in youtube. She bellydance this impossible tune and some others from Aphex Twin, she's awesome.

  • lol i love the small elements of dubstep wobbels

  • oh gawd so much albums to choose from what do you recommend?

  • @gothgospel Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms

  • @kralle333

  • @doobiesnax Wait what?

  • @kralle333 the album filth... >_>

  • @kralle333

the cd Filth from Venetian Snares.

it's what i recommend for listening to.

  • @doobiesnax nice one

  • doll doll doll

  • @kralle333 I would prefer The Chocolate Wheelchair Album, 'cause the ending is so glitchy and epic.

  • @gothgospel Songs About My Cats

  • @gothgospel But if your looking for classical-themed VSnares, definately this album, and "My Downfall"

  • @gothgospel This album or Cavalcade... are my favourite, but he's done a lot of good stuff. I'm quite digging Detrimentalist at the moment too...

  • @gothgospel Probably too late, but I say Print Shiver, followed by listening to every album in the order they were released. Its pretty mind-boggling to hear how much he's grown in just ten years.

  • @gothgospel out of 15 this album is my favorite

  • @gothgospel

This album and Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding.

  • @gothgospel Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett, Detrimentalist, Filth and the Chocolate Wheelchair Album :P

  • @Kefkarjp i actually now have Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett, Detrimentalist, Filth, the Chocolate Wheelchair Album, pink + green, hospitality, my so-called life, songs about my cats, and 2370894

  • doll doll doll

  • @gothgospel meathole

  • @gothgospel SONGS ABOUT MY CATS WAS HIS BEST

  • @gothgospel In my opinion rossz csillag alatt született is his best but calvacade is kick ass too. Honestly I haven't heard one I didn't like so just pick one and run with it.

  • @johngeetar i actually have 13 of his albums now XD

  • @gothgospel Kick ass man. I think I got the same torrent lol.

  • @JavaSpitLava its actually my fave lol

  • @gothgospel

Winnipeg is a frozen shit hole is my fav

  • This is the Hungarian Suicide Song, but then epic.

  • Who said venetian snares doesn't have class? There's quality Billie Holiday up in this bitch.

  • Why this album and all of its tracks have titles in hungarian??

  • @nechillo Don't you ever get Hungary? haha.

  • @Miss900bpm lol

  • @Miss900bpm what did you say?? I don't get YOU... I mean, Venetian Snares is a canadian guy... why did he has an album with titles in hungarian?

  • @nechillo

  • @nechillo Miss was making a joke, and the titles are in Hungarian because VSnares had a dream of Hungary.

  • @nechillo Because Venetian Snares skills do not stop at his ethinticity

  • @nechillo Aaron Funk was paid by his record label to go travelling and find inspiration for a new album, so he basically got shit faced for 6 months, when he was in hungary he just chanced upon this hungarian composer and thought "fuck it that'll do" turns out that was a genius decision because this album is a master peice

  • @Smitamas101 He lived in Hungary with his girlfriend Hajnal, that is why.

  • @Miss900bpm this is not funny. this is a really old joke, and not funny ;P we hate this :D

  • @djninth He was asking for it.

  • @nechillo Aaron (Venetian Snares) was here in Budapest, 2-3 years I think. He have some inspiration from Budapest. Like this soooo happy song :D

  • it is psychotic.i like it.
