It's fun...The really original gloomy sunday (which has been made by Rezső Seress) is on youtube, like a fucking parody. Like: The hungaryan suicide song. I don't think he was trying to sound racist. He chose Gloomy Sunday to add to the mood of the album itself, (What works more for a melancholy album than a song famous for causing suicides?) most likely picking Holiday's version for the vocals because it was the English version he liked best. Whether he butchered a song as an excuse to show off or made it enjoyable to a different audience is up for debate, but this is not.
