Would someone please write carefully to me all the dialogs word by word? I'm missin some words and I want to subtitle this video for italian audience. Many Thanks for those who'll help me doin this!!!
The lawyer denying everything has come true thanks to the gulf of mexico disaster. BP go off the hook completely, and it's the taxpayers who foot the bill.
I just have to say that depicting oil workers in such a light really pisses me off. I'm totally pro- wind/solar/hydro/geothermal energies, but I also realize that the way our infrastructure is designed we are wholly dependent on oil. To paint the men and women who risk their lives working in dangerous conditions to collect our fossil fuels for us as undesirable and filthy offends my senses as an American. You don't have to bully oil workers to make us realize wind is better. Shame on you.
@iheartmonsterdotcom I see your point, but I do not see that person as representing oil workers. He instead represents underwater crude oil deposits; and getting them out is indeed a dirty business. Similarly, Windy represents wind power; she is not meant to represent how wind farm workers dress and act.
@TheElectricChad With your paradigm, the commercial is not offensive. Thanks for opening my eyes a bit.
But I maintain that oil doesn't need to be demonized/demoralized/depicted in a negative light in the process of moving toward a future of cleaner electricity for all. Drilling for oil, refining it, and transporting it can't be that much dirtier of a business than mining, machining, transporting, erecting and maintaining wind farms, can it?
@elgato105 I don't think they're suggesting we go to 100% wind and solar. But there are other clean energy sources, like hydro and geothermal that can provide a clean strong grid when combined with wind and solar power. The good thing about wind and solar is that solar panels work great in the day and the wind blows hardest at night; they complement each other well. To rely on just wind and solar would be silly, because like you said, the grid would not be strong on a cloudy day or still night.
@giantquesadilla True, our power grid is and will need to be diverse. The problem is there are different groups against each one. Nuclear power plants are cheap with no Carbon emissions, but radioactive waste is no fun and people fear them, Hydro is great but, it destroys an ecosystem, coal is cheap but dirty, Solar and Wind are great in some areas but and cant produce as much with consistency. I just don't want this "Green Movement" to make everyone poorer.
@elgato105 the panels and the turbines collect more energy than is needed and it is put into what is essentially a battery for future use. New solar panels including the organic solar panels don't need direct sunlight to obtain energy either. The panels uses the energy that can penetrate clouds and that is still present after the sun sets.
That last line is a twist on "Drill, baby drill" which was a 2008 campaign slogan.

The commercial totally kills its message with that misogynistic last line.

We use Geothermal. There's LOTS AND LOTS of geothermal available. Enough to power everything, actually.

So if to go 100% solar and wind power instead of coal, what happens when the air is still or its a cloudy day?
