What is this great evil? How did it steal into the world? From what seed, what root did it spring? Who's doing this? Who's killing us? Robbing us of light and life. Mocking us with the sight of what we might have known.
This film is brilliant and genius. My favourite. The Soundtrack too. And Explosions in the Sky - Yeah.
To anyone who will listen, I implore you to read the book The Naked and the Dead, by Norman Mailer, about a squad of soldiers in the pacific theater...my god, that book is perhaps one of the greatest pieces of literature I've ever read, and I've read a lot...I read it every summer...I IMPLORE YOU TO READ IT!
Oh, it is...I promise you...I have no worries. Even someone who reads rarely(not that I'm implying you don't read) would find this book hard to put down...It's both fun to read and incredibly complex in it's portrayels of it's characters...not to mention that Mailer was only 22 or 23 when he wrote it...how a man that young could write so realistically about so many different characters is beyond me...Mailer was truly a genius, may he rest in peace...
I fucking love the Thin Red Line...far superior to Saving Private Ryan, in my humble opinion...very poignant and reflective...every time that movie comes on I'm hypnotized...
After...Song made in 2001...The song itself uses the monologue from the film...This vid is just synched up to the part where the monologue actually is played..
The most immpressive moment in Saving Private Ryan is when the Capt. and his squad take out the radio tower. I was stoned when I was watching that part, and I realized that the director was trying to show a combat corespondents view of action in that chapter of the movie. I was taken back, because of what was probably going through those rangers minds before they had to take those MG-42's. Combat isn't bullshit, people die...
... Thin red line is far better than SVP ... SVP most impressive moments are the landing on the omaha beach right in front of the german bunkers and their MG42s ... this is war as it really is ... but the SVP was ruined by "here comes the cavallerie" at the end where the platoon was almost run over by the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS ... Thin red line is pure war and full of contrasts between paradies and hell and very detailled different characters ... 5*
I like their version of this song, but they should have made it longer. The song in the movie has a very nice intro, with sticks and violins. I think it should be in the works.
there's a song called Have you Passed Through This Night (by Explosions in the Sky) where the first few minutes of the song is them playing over an audio clip of the movie. and so i synced them playing over the movie to the part of the movie they play over.
and yes, this is actually what they show in the movie, not a series of clips. it only differs in the audio.
oh alright. so if i went out and rented this movie, when this song came on this is what i'd see right? you didn't just take random clips and put them together?
This one is different, though. It's by far the most introspective war movie I've ever seen. I actually highly recommend it for people who may not necessarily like war movies.
Although people like there to be a lot of action may find this film boring.
I saw this movie like 4 years ago or something and I couldn't link it in my mind with this ExITS song. I just knew I had heard or read that passage before. Last week I went to a lecture where they showed this scene from Thin Red Line and eureka! I guess my life is complete now...
amazing movie & pretty good song. Godspeed is my shit though.

yeah well its from it... I knew the monologue was from this, so its nice to see someone sync it up!! great work!

is this what they actually show in the movie? or did you just edit some clips with the song?

you're close. but you've got it backwards.

Thnks for introducing me to this band "Friday Night Lights" (2004)
Benioff1 4 years ago
I've never actually heard the real the soundtrack to Friday Night Lights, but I have the demos kicking around my computer for some reason.
so... thanks?
seizuretastic 4 years ago
From what I recall (I own this CD) I really can't remember this song being on the soundtrack, maybe I'm wrong..
CavaliarEternal 4 years ago
The song in the video is from the album "Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever."
Yeah, this song isn't in the demos. But I can see why it could be mixed up with other albums because EITS has a pretty distinct sound.

I love the song my Charles Ives from the actual film called The Unanswered Question.

no offense but anything synced to this music would be enough to make a great vid not that i'm saying its not i love the vid 5 stars
wwII98 4 years ago
Well, the orchestral bit from the beginning and the monologue and the random sound effects/gunshot are taken from the movie this clip is from.
So what I really did was sync up the the original movie with the dialogue that goes with it.
So yeah, it was more than a random clip syncing.
