VW declared it had 160hp.. but the truth is that unless you cool the intercooler it was pulling 140-150 at best..
If you put a bag of ice over the IC , or you drove in some cold place or in rain then the 160hp would appear..
It was a big embarrasement back then for VW (the cheaper 16V was almost as powerfull) and thats why today their cars usually develop a bit more hp on dynos than declared.. VW wants a margin so even in hot climas the car develops the anouced hp

@alleksesp If you do get a G60 and you are willing to expend a bit money on it for the hp.. check the supercharger (probably it will need servicing, this is the most expensive part) then apart from changing the intercooler (do some research, a too big one will create turbulences) buy a chip-tune and a smaller supercharger pulley (increases SC rpm and so the boost) and yo will be easily at arround real 190hp.. of course it will increase fuel consumption
@sparrowlt thank you for your advice, I know about the common problem with the g60's supercharger but here in Spain... almost 80% of all g60 editions have their supercharger rebuilt.
My plans are to buy the g60, do a full inspection and fix everything needed to be fixed and then I will go on with engine, suspensions, brakes, inside safety... improvements.
I will do a full chip-tunning from the ground up (myself) so that doesn't worry me at all.

A little extra power??? if you want to accelerate faster than a Donky, you need to have at least 300hp with a 1100Kgs car, stock, a G60 is 160hp and 1110 Kgs so IT CAN'T accelerate faster than the slowest Donky...
Mk2's are around 1000kgs and a 16v G60 has 212hp stock sooo a little tuning to both sides and there you go. I'm still thinking this might be a 1.8t though cause its silly quick!
Golf MK2 stock is 1115Kgs and 165hp!!! I don't know where you take from your data but there are totally wrong! and even with a BIG tuning, it will be slower than a Donky, no doubt at all!
Golf drives normal, but the driver of the Donkey is a jerk !!!!
Nothing could beat a Donkervoort nor a Catehram or a Seven !!!
