If you like both, consider the fact that Skyrim is a WAY bigger game, although with the new horde mode introduced to Dead Island tommorow, Dead Island is probably more fun to play with friends.

I personally like zombie's and Co-Op, so I chose Dead Island, but I guess it is personal preferance.
