hard drive that runs at at least 7200rpm (size doesn't matter!), dual channel (good for moving smaller files quickly- like session files) or single channel (good for moving big files- like live venue recordings) memory of at least 4GB, and at least 2GHz processor. there. done.

hey im 15 and dont have 3k to spend but have o.k. equipment. I have a midi keyboard with 88 weighted keys (Yamaha ypg635), my guitars (Old yamaha acoustic, schecter c1 hellraiser, and a fender standard strat), and my amp (old line 6 spider III 75 watt combo). Im thinking if i can get a package of 2 moniors with a vocal condenser and an instrument condenser and stands cables and software off GC than i could start and mabe get a mixer later on. Would this be a good start for a recording studio?ty
@hiian123 dont use a condenser on instruments, i would suggest a shure sm57 mic its a dyanmic mic, its a 100 dollars and it sounds good on acoustic guitars and electric guitar amps and even basses. Then you need a DAW which is basicly just a computer program. I would get logic express. its cheap and its better then all the other garbage out there. After that get a digital audio interface (soundcard). I have a steinberg c1 thing it was like 100 dollars
@hiian123 (conti...) and u can use the interface to plug ur mic into and that plugs into your computer which allows to record onto your DAW. monitors arent the most important thing in the world if u have good headphones. u can use the shure sm57 for vocals but its a bit harsh, i would suggest getting a condenser mic later on. dont go for shitty recording packages they suck dick. and whatever u do don't get an analog mixer to record with, get a soundcard, analog mixers are for playing live.
@hiian123 if u really want a mixer get a digital mixer cause that can control ur DAW software. but those are like 1000 dollars. allthough presonus makes one for 120 dollars and i would get that. all together the shure sm57, the soundcard, the logic express would probably cost u like 300-400 dollars.. don't listen to expert village douchbags. the guy in this video is 20 and hes already a burn-out.
nahhh i think fl studio is the best way!!!all the things that you need is a good microphone 160 euros,a midi keyboard 50 euros,a guitar with the special cables, and an amplifier!!!thats all!!!!not mpc, synthesizers and shit like that!!!
Man I just can't belive you would waste your time doing a video with such general info. If Expert Village wants A real producer that has a hole studio setup to explain anything and everything about building and connecting a home or pro studio hardware and software hit me up.
@bmw2go11 im looking at a computer with a intel core II quad processor. 1333 MHz frontside bus, 4 MB L2 cache and 2.33 GHz processor speed. do u think that would be good enough? it also has 6 gigs of ram
@Robot0Ninja it defiantly has enough processing power to handle recording and 6gb of ram is just overkill
great specs. i would probably get a +500gp hard drive along with that and (depending on you're recording setup..) for the best stereo input i would go with the Audiophile 2496, for a large variety of useful inputs and outputs i would go with the Delta 66 (6 in 6 out) or the Delta 44 (4in 4out)
@bmw2go11 yeah, it has a 750 gig hard drive. but i actually think im gonna get a different one cause the one i mentioned before is refurbished i found out. the new has 4 gigs of ram but 3.0 GHz gaming processor. pretty decent size HD too. and thanks for the advice
no expert village doesnt suck... its this mexican that is giving out the bad reputation ROFLcopter SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI LOL please dont spam me guys ;]
this guys sayin a computer is the most important thing as he sits behind a monitor from 1991, and has a casio keyboard that he won being the 500th shopper in his local target
so i need some help here from any one willing. Right now im just recording my vids with my camera which has absolutely shitty quality if anyone wants to check them out. And im experimenting now by plugging my guitar and amp directly into my computer through the mic slot on my comp. But that still is giving me shitty quality and it sounds like i played my guitar underwater or some shit. So does anyone have tips on how they record their guitar????? that would really be helpful, thanks
i wouldn't recommend plugging your amp in directly. instead buy a cheap mic for your amp and plug that into your mic slot on the comp. that would be the cheapest way to do it in the meantime until you invest into something better. or if you can get ahold of a VST, such as Amplitube, you can plug your guitar in directly and have a computer generated amp.
If you are working witn electronic music, rap, hiphop, dance etc. Your setup does not have to be anything crazy.. If your a musician or plan on recording bands, you have more to worry about.
He told you what processor speed your need... Thats pretty informational. Also if you are thinking about getting in to recording, you should really have a basic knowledge of computer specs in the first place.
@EAmuels And that is not even true. When I build My studio, i worked in the IT industry and I'd be dammed if i had to fiddle around with another crap computer for nice recordings. Luckely there are a lot of complete solutions out there like my multitrack recorder which behaves not like a computer, but like a piece of audio gear.
Does any body know the best way to sound proof a room or cut down the amount of sound coming from the room. I can not take out the wall so that is out of the Question. The room in question is about 150 to 200 sq feet I am using KRK V6 Monitors. Thanks for the help.

build a home recording studio: (way better than this SH*TY VIDEO!!)
"memory"... this guy is a idiot, if you buy a computer thinking 500gb= good computer... research more before buying!!!
1: get a decent computer with a +2.5ghz dual core and 4gb RAM.
2. get a good mixer, 4 channels is enough.
3. speakers... ~$50 is enough.
5. get a "blue snowball" for your mic (amazon)
6. go to amazon, com and buy a "M-Audio" audio capture card!!
7. Audacity for beginners recording on pc (free)
I just pwn3ed xD

AND the FSB has to be fast! LIke 2000!
I like using an AMD dual core with Sonar and Ableton.
2.4 is really not going to handle any major work. Plus you need a lot of FAST RAM! Some VST sampled instruments are way huge!
