I am jealous. Glad you put your talent o a non classical masterpiece. Waits is a genius and although technically might not be Mozart, he is a bloody good musician.
You know he has a few different ways he plays this song and changes it up every time in the live performances. He is huge on improv (which is something I love about Tom Waits) like a chameleon, he's always changing - including his voice <3
You're doing okay for read sheet music.
Try playing it from memory. I bet that'd come out rather lovely.
Hello, you play the song with sweet emotion, very nice, now here is a little story for you:
Tom waits wrote the song as you know, and the original title is 'Tom Trauberts blues', )aka. four sheets to the wind in Copenhagen)
the chorus is an old australien song (waltzing Mathilda), and the verses are Tom waits own. to go Waltzing Mathilda actually means travelling with all your things in a bag or cloth on your shoulder, like a vagabond! by the way Rod Stewart also covered the song.
I remember Mom being shocked and appalled when I cried - at the age of 5 - when I heard the old song Cockles and Mussels. 5-year-olds may be the best audiences,
Oops, now I'm checking to see if it's uploaded, I also notice I didn't at all edit out my page turns.
Oh well, until I've perfected my X-ray vision you're stuck with me turning pages anyway...might as well see the whole process then, and if I'm lucky I timed some in the middle of a rest?
it sounds like its written in F major, it starts and ends on an F chord, and only B is flat... i dunno, i might be wrong but i was messing around to this and i ended up in F
Hey, how about playing "Picture in a Frame" next!

To all those who ask "Where'd you get the sheet music?" It's available in the Tom Waits Anthology, order online or from your local music store!

Wow, great! Sounds very good! Where did you get the sheet music? I´ve only one with a very simple left hand accompaniment. But yours sounds so great!

heck, i was wondering how you managed that in your other vids...when i play by myself it always annoys me as it disrupts the flow of the music...
ashaman5 4 years ago
Grin, I usually cut part of the " turn" out, but I'm pretty tired and half asleep..so I forgot.
Will check tomorrow what key this is in.

i'm not asking for the sheet music...i'm just curious...is it written in Gminor or Bflat major?
