I am from Texas and I spend many months every year working in Germany. Any American fastfood chain (McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, etc.) is just not like it is in US. Pick a German place, do not go American there or you will be disappointed. Get a Brat with some mustard or a pretzel with some local beer on tap if you need a quick fix. German/Turkish is a favorite of mine and I love to eat!

Da hier Bratwurstkrieg zwischen NRW und Thüringen ausbricht, warum nicht mal näher auf die Bundesländer und ihre jeweilige Eigenheiten eingehen (und natürliche jene des US Bundestaaten)? Um das stereotype Bild vom Lederhosen tragenden Deutschen mal komplett zu beseitigen (und des stereotypen Amerikaners natürlich auch).

You forgot to mention that in Germany, McDonald's sells beer! I think their burgers are terrible. Wendy's has the best burgers (for fast food) they're made fresh to order. Also in many major cities (like Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I'm from) they also have lunch stands/street vendors. You can get breakfast sandwiches, hoagies and of course REAL Philly Cheese-steaks!!! The mayo in Europe is a little spicier compared to here in the States and tastes great with fries/pommes.

Here in Western Germany, near the Dutch border, we eat fries with mayonnaise, curry ketchup and onions. It's called "Pommes Spezial". Not until a few years ago I actually thought that is how they are eaten all over Germany, but the Internet has taught me different, to my disappointment. I love Pommes Spezial, it's probably one of the things I would really miss if I moved away from here.

I think the State of Thuringia has some of the best bratwurst especially in Erfurt, or town called Gotha, but I haven't stay in Frankfurt just flown in there, but the Doner is definitely the best thing I have ever eaten!
