  • Can someone please help me? I have a K100d that is just fantastic but I'm looking for an upgrade. Should I buy this model or upgrade even further to the K20d? (I'm a student on a budget, so I'd probably buy used no matter what)

  • Really enjoyed watching your video. I subscribed to your channel. If you get the chance, please do the same to mine. Thanks!

  • Great, review more PENTAX stuff :)

  • @spystyle I would but Pentax refuse to send me cameras to test anymore. Please ask Pentaxian1 at youtube to support cameralabs.

  • Good work keep it up very informative video

  • I really wanted to buy K-x, but I honestly am waiting for your review first... Pentaxian1 i think is sick of the people asking him to let you review the pentax. heheheh :) and I'm on of them :)

  • @heartlessprince as soon as they send one, ill review it.

  • Should I get the Pentax K-x or the Nikon D5000 solely in terms of Image Quality

  • @WilliamTsengsta I can't comment on Pentax anymore becuase they refuse to send me cameras to test. Please contact Pentaxian1 and ask them to support me if you'd like to see more Pentax reviews. As for the models I have tested, please see the best buys section at cameralabs . com...

  • @WilliamTsengsta

    get the Kx ;)

    really great high ISO performance

superb image quality and it feels more solid than the D5000

  • you should review the pentax k-x

  • @ShowCaseProductions I would but Pentax refuse to send me cameras to test anymore. Please ask Pentaxian1 at youtube to support cameralabs.

  • @cameralabs kk will do(:

  • @NoG0D Pentax has stopped sending me cameras to test. Feel free to ask Pentaxian1 to send me cameras to review

  • Still waiting for a great Pentax KM/K2000 Review~. Have you slowed down on reviewing products on Youtube? Always so informative.

  • @EbisuHapa All my latest reviews are at cameralabs . com - there aren't any more Pentax ones though - see my forum.

  • The camera is awesome.Well worth money. The very bad thing I found is the AA during winter or cold..well, they are good during 20+C conditions.I use rechargable, and 200-300picures I get normaly.Sometimes I keep them for months inside, and they work no problem. The VERY bad thing is during winter, or when it's cold, I get like 5-10 pictures. You need to keep the batteries worm really, or they just don't work. I haven't used regular during cold,so I don't know about that, but rechargable-BAD in cold

  • Oh wow o_O

    So much stuff......

    too bad it uses AA

  • AAs ? in a dslr ?

  • Comment removed

  • is this the same as the K-m??

  • nope

  • I'm using Sanyo Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries and I'm happy with it.

Duracell, Energizer ( rechargeable batteries ) didn't do so well.

This is good camera with a great price ( if you can still find it), but it's better to bay body + some other 18-55mm with larger lens and not the original with

    52mm

    diameter.

    More light...

  • I have one, it's very good compared to the others more expensive models with a same characteristics.

  • Does the fact that it runs on AAs let it down?

  • No, not at all, i have been using some crappy rechargeble aa's for over one year, and the battery lifetime is pretty impressive

  • I wonder if you can turn off the big LCD and just use the top LCD for function settings. I find the big bright LCD extremely annoying, especially when I shoot in a dark place, like a jazz club, for instance. With my Sony A900, I couldn't get the main LCD to deactivate completely, what a bummer! It's either I am so stupid I don't know how to do this, or the camera is not designed well.

  • è l'uomo + brutto del mondo!

  • which is better k200d or k100d?

  • k200d i think, because k20d is better then k10d

  • as presenter said, k200d is more related to k10d; a solid semi-pro model, so it's definetly a better choice for a serious amateur, i have it and i like it. kit lens is mediocre though as they usually are...

  • the k200d is way better then the k100d, notice that the k10d is better than the 100d, and the k200d uses the same sensor that the k10d uses

  • Can you please help me? Every time I take a picture that is maybe.....2 or 3 feet in front of me, the picture turns out SO SO SO BRIGHT even WHITE! I have even changed the exposure & it steal doesn't change it!!! PLEASE HELP ME!

  • try lower ISO or higher aperture

  • Is the flash going off? If it is, try increasing the aperture. If it's not, then yeah, lower ISO, and if that doesn't fix it, increase the shutter speed.

  • Looks like a great camera, interested in it.

So, if the top LCD is not backlit and the main LCD's exposure info is not updated in real time, what do you do if you're taking nightshots? Hit-and-miss? Might be just something you get used to though..

    hehe, thanks

  • The info on the LCD also displays inside the viewfinder when you look through it

  • Great review

  • What about the AF speed compairing with k10d?

    Thanks

  • hi thanks for all ur videos, they help me alot in learning photography with my pentax k200d,infact u r the only GURU i have, thanks alot.i wait to see more of u soon on youtube and cameralabs,

    regards

  • whats it like im thinkin of gettin it

  • can u please tell me the difference between k10d and k200d, i would really appreciate.. and tell me which one is better for sports..thx

  • They're pretty much the same I think. The size of the K10D is bigger and better ergonomics if you have bigger hands. I have the K10D, and with the right lenses, you can do very well with sports. I don't miss having more speed than 3FPS which the K10D has. I use the DA* 50-135mm for sport, and it does very well. The image quality is stunning with pixel sharpness.

Try to hold both, use the one that fits your hands best, I don't think you'll get better advice than that as the cameras are so alike.

  • I ran out of space there.

There are some differences in the menues of course as the K200D is newer than the K10D. But you lack some buttons on the K200D since it's a smaller body. Also, the batteries are different. 4xAA for the K200D vs. custom battery for the K10D. And the buffer lets the K10D take more pictures at full speed (3 FPS) while the K200D has less space in the buffer which won't let it shoot at full speed (2.8 FPS) as long as the K10D.

Not very big differences, so try holding them.

  • i really apppreciate ur comment speedfreakno...

so the speed of k 10d is better ha! i think it makes a lot of difference in sports taking a picture rt?

i think i am going to wait and buy pentax k20d....

  • hey gordan, thank you for this video it really helped a lot. i got this baby camera last summer and fell deeply in love recently cuz the pictures turn out amazing:D btw, i read this sentence on your website for the review"So is it a bargain version of a former flagship, or a cut-down compromise which lacks the latest features? ", would you mind list some of the latest features that it lacks? thank you so much:D

  • Hi Shellymin36, check the verdict page of my K200D review at cameralabs . com!

  • Thank you Cameralabs!

Review of Pentax K200D helped me very much in choosing that DSLR. Now I am satisfied Pentax user :)

  • Hi CameraLab!

I have a K200D Pentax. and im wondering, what settings do you have when you take the fast photos in-a-row at 3:33?

    Regards, Alex

  • Continuous drive mode, 1/500 shutter, normal JPEG quality and manual focus.

  • i'll buy one soon! i love this thing xd

  • Oh, please! This camera seems to be perfect. Just when I thought I had made up my mind, this baby comes along. How about the IQ? You rarely discuss that in the videos. Is it comparable to the 450d (if the latter is set to optimal sharpness)?

  • All the image quality comparisons and results can be found in the main review at cameralabs . com - there's a link to the right of the video...

  • Makes sence, since the YouTube's video quality is what it is.. :P

  • how do you get all these cameras for reviews?

    great videos!

  • Hi PHOTOLAB, if you check the About Us section at cameralabs . com, you'll see I've been a professional reviewer for 16 years. The manufacturers have known me for a long time, so they loan me equipment to review - it's the same way magazines get their equipment. If you want to get into this, I'd suggest trying to get a job on a magazine which reviews the things you're interested in. That's how I started in 1992!

  • Hey guys and Gorden, I was wondering if I should I should get this, the Nikon D80 or the Canon EOS Rebel XSI. Thanks guys

  • Hi, I've compared them in the verdict pages of the reviews of each at cameralabs . com...

  • ok Thank You

  • This basic slr was rated the best one at Consumer Reports.

No once can doubt the mighty one at CR, NO ONE. If they say it's the best, IT IS THE BEST.

    (^_^)

  • Hi Gordon, I'm new to this DSLR cameras and planning to buy one soon. I'm considering the K200D, Rebel XS, and E-520. Which one should I buy?

  • Check out the best buys section at cameralabs . com!

  • gordon is my favourite review-er!! such a great guy on camera.

  • after the 5 shot burst, how long do you need to wait before you can use the burst mode again??

  • thank you very much you help me pick the right slr 4 me!(k200d}!

  • great camera,i just got it as a present with sigma dg macro 70-300mm. i like camera but sigma is a bit awful at low aperture :) Kit lens is good enough :) at that price point pentax offers much more than canon and nikon .

  • Wait. Im confused. Is there a Live view in this camera or there ISNT one?

  • No, there isn't

  • Thanx =]

  • Im have K200D....really good machine,great construction,good kitobjectives!

  • does it handle regular sd memory cards?

  • Yes.

  • Gotten a new microphone? Sound quality seems better than on the other reviews..

  • Ha! I tricked you! Nope, it's the same old built-in microphone. I hope to upgrade soon though!

  • Well, when you do, look into some Shoer mics!

  • I mean Shure mics*

  • I 'shure' will! What models do you recommend? Sadly the camcorder I currently use is a Sony which doesn't have a normal mic input - only their proprietary accessory shoe. But I may switch to a different camera in the future with a proper mic input.

  • Well, the model called SM58 should be excellent for these kinds of purposes.

  • But, I am more of a photography guy, so don't just take my word for it, I could wrong!

  • Thanks!

  • Thinking about sound? Get a camcorder that has a Mic-input, then get a XLR adapter from Beachtek, a XLR shotgun mic and a clip-on lavalier. My standard setup for an interview. If you're outside get a windscreen though. Shure isn't the only brand though, there's good ones like from Audio-Technica and Sennheiser. I personally like my own RODE NTG-1, pro broadcast-grade sound for $250.

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks for the tip... I now have a camcorder with a mic input - unlike the Sony model used for these videos - so I'll look into improving my audio. One question though - why not get a lavalier mic with a 3.5mm jack instead of an XLR model with an adapter? Don't you lose any benefits of XLR if you don't have a proper XLR input?

  • An excellent review of an excellent camera!

  • very good review (great with web review), thanks

  • Only thing i didn't agree with was 16/20 on the Handling rating. It may be heavier than other entry-level dslr, but it is ergonomically much superior to all the plasticky canons, nikons, and sonys.

  • Thanks for your comments! To explain, the handling score is about more than just the build quality - it encompasses controls, continuous shooting, AF performance, compositional options and more besides!

  • I love the fact that you actually take the time to respond to our replies! The personal touch is so undervalued these days. Keep up the excellent work!

  • Spot on review! Thanks Gordon! Love your website and your videos. Perhaps you can do more "how-to" videos or "shooting tips" in the near future. :)

  • Can i use old 70's 80's pentax lenses in this camera?

  • There's full lens details details on the Features page of our review at cameralabs . com.

  • The great thing about Pentax is that you can use any lens ever produced by them. :)

  • yes, all K, KAF, KAF2 lenses. And and even M42 lenses with cheap adaptor.

  • nice no live view gonna get it someday

  • awesum video review.....like always

  • If you could mane a review for the new sigma 50mm F1.4 would be awesome!

  • Great review!

  • great vid. like your reviews.

  • Can you add the lens you featured in this video when you order the camera? If so, how much is it?

  • It depends on the supplier; you may need to buy the K200D body and the 18-250mm as seperate items. But for an up-to-date price on this lens and the camera, check the features page of our full review at cameralabs . com.

  • Will do! Thanks, Gordon :)
