  • Ты вообще водить умеешь? =)

  • when i get this file from playonlinux it asks where is your CD ROM mounted and every choice is wrong... HELP!

  • I used chmod 777 .wine -R before....... I gave up!

  • What did you do? Did you use Wine as root?

  • Yeah, after it said access denied.......

  • You should never run Wine with root privilegies!

Flatout 2 will work wine with Wine, just take it easy and start with a new wine prefix (WINEPREFIX=$HOME/path/to/new/wineprefix) to avoid problems with other software, and then check AppDB for comments about how to get it running. :)

  • I have Geforce 8800GTS, Intel C2D E6850, Ubuntu 8.10 and Wine 1.1.5 and Flatout2 can not run. I don't know why. Any suggestions?

  • Try starting the game from a terminal, without the WINEDEBUG=-all command. What does the Wine output in the terminal say? Please upload it on Pastebin and send me the link. :)

  • helike@Helike-PC:~$ wine /home/helike/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Empire Interactive/FlatOut2/FlatOut2.exe

    wine: cannot find '/home/helike/.wine/drive_c/Program'

Wine is a shit, cedega is better but not free

  • You problem is because Wine see the search path as more than one because of the space in "Program Files".

    Either use "/home/helike/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/path/to/file"

    or

    /home/helike/.wine/drive_C/Program\ Files/path/to/file

Wine isn't shit simply because you are writing the wrong thing. :)

  • helike13@Helike-PC:~$ WINEDEBUG=-all /home/helike13/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files/Empire\ Interactive/FlatOut2/FlatOut2.exe

    bash: /home/helike13/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Empire Interactive/FlatOut2/FlatOut2.exe: Access denied

  • helike13@Helike-PC:~$ sudo su

    root@Helike-PC:/home/helike13# WINEDEBUG=-all /home/helike13/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files/Empire\ Interactive/FlatOut2/FlatOut2.exe

    bash: /home/helike13/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Empire Interactive/FlatOut2/FlatOut2.exe: Access denied

  • I think I have to reinstall my system

  • Hmm a lot of stuttering and lower framerates. Why should i use linux for gaming over windows?

    (I expect a serious answer)

  • Hi!

The stuttering is caused by the RecordMyDesktop program, because it is writing a big cache file to the same hard drive that the OS and the was installed on. You will see the same kind of stuttering in all my videos, but maybe less in my newer movies (new RmD version + separate hard drive).

Sure, there are some lower framerates, but this games runs very smoothly when I'm not screencasting.

  • I made that choice because I think Linux is a superior OS for every thing I use computers for (Surfing, programming, school work, movie watching, general geek stuff) with less computer resources used and the possibility to customize and choose things for yourself.

Sure, DirectX games will often perform worse, and some newer games doesn't work, but you don't have to use Linux if you don't want to, or you could do like me and play those games in Windows.

  • See how linux pwns windows?

  • okay i will try it

  • Can i run Ubunutu on a Virtual Machine?

  • yes u can

  • With VMware Workstation you can pretty much run any OS that can Boot.

  • lol i have this game on ps2 its the best im downloadin it for pc aswell

  • Can you run it fullscreen witout it "lags"?. I think linux has problems runnning games fullscreen.

  • In fact it runs better in fullscreen, especially when having Compiz + Emerald with much eye candy. The best thing is to start a new x server that is separate for the game, but that is a bit advanced for most users.

Why I play all my games in windowed mode is because I like multitasking, and it is a lot easier changing window when you are in a windowed mode. :)

  • This game looks fun. I'm going to try it! XD

  • your videos are AMAZING, great config.

i am almost changing WINDOWS XP for Linux.

  • scheiss LINUX :D

  • Why not go fullscreen?

  • it's because he is showing it's wine on linux and effects activated.

  • flatout 2 is a really nice game!

  • i can own you in a flatout race! btw cool vid

  • Yeah, I kinda suck ^^

[Defence Mode="activate" Blameonsomethingelse="on"]But It was also a bit harder when I recorded since I recorded the video to the same harddrive I played the game from.[/Defence mode] :D

  • can i please know what is wine is it some sort of emulator or somethin... ?

  • @DaweyYT

    It´s "defense", not "defence"

WINE = Wine Is Not an Emulator.

  • Yeah, I know. Was that even necessary?

  • @DaweyYT

Not really, i was kinda drunk yesterday lol. Srry mate.

  • wooww. genius. WINE - WINDOWS is not an emulator ;) more stfw no problem;)

  • WINE = Wine is not a emulator... Wine is a layer translating windows api calls to native linux calls.
