Every lesson Miyagi teaches pairs a menial task with a karate technique. Paint the fence, sand the deck, etc. Plus, Miyagi gets his chores done for him. It's a win-win!

Both of the movies were fantastic. There was a lesson to learn in the original and in the remake. Watching both movies for the first time, no one really got what was the point in doing all of these things from wax on/wax off to jacket on/jacket off. But then both teachers showed that there was a reason to doing all of this and the students learned martial arts. That is good teaching! :)
