i wish there were more videos from blackmore, available on the internetz. she has a lot to say about consciousness, memes, zen.. great author and scientist.
@PROFESSOR23MAEHEMM23 I was referring specifically to Dr. Wallace's fundamental claim that consciousness is not bound by space and time. He is far from the only scientist to make this claim. There is much intriguing evidence now that points to the possibility that the mind survives the death of the physical body. Then there are the claims of the mystics, which, although first-person in nature, are thousands of years old, exist in virtually every known culture, and show remarkable consistency.
Susan is right about dualism being intuitive subconscious machinery in our mind. And evolution is its cause. Consequently people throughout the world created huge amount of similar beliefs, some of them known as religions.
And aim of Buddhism is to open our eyes to this illusion, realize non-selflessness, be free from craving and so suffering.
Not to draw unjustified conclusions from experiences, even if there are felt supernatural.
@docrock80 I'm often caught off guard when a response to a comment of mine isn't angry or patronising, I'm so used to this stuff turning into flame wars (especially on the Dawkins/Dennett/Harris/Hitchens videos). Boy there are a lot of furious people on those.
@PROFESSOR23MAEHEMM23 I never said that. I was only commenting on Susan Blackmore. I don't know enough about Mr. Wallace's theory of mind to say anything about it. I am, however, in complete agreement with him - among many others - as regards the ability of the human mind to transcend the limits of time and space.

Any more information that Susan criticised? Which book of Alan Wallace she was talking about?
