  • 1) Why the radio in the background? That was annoying and distracting.

    2) Thought this was going to be a modern fresh razor cut. By the time you got to the end, it looked like a grandma style. All the goop & hair spray. Too bad.

  • It's like watching an artist.....

  • @LollyJK1 thank you

  • Love the Spanking technique!

  • i would drive from arkansas to have my hair cut by you! so funny!!!!!

  • well done love..she looks great !..i find this Razor cut would suit to ppl who has thick hair...don´t u think? Asian hair would looks amazing ...they have perfect hair for razorcut...

  • Wow, thats a really cool hair style

  • great cut and love the handheld blowdryer!

  • Is lovely thas's the hair cut that I really need, I haven't seen any hairdresser cuting like this, I love it !!!!!!!!!

  • @amber123446 Kathleen was in yesterday and even though it's been two years, her cut is still basically the same... just asymetric with the right side being almost to the chin and the left side about half way covering the ear.

  • they do this in china where i was at. actually, it comes from japan as far as i know, but over there it is becoming passe.

  • man, i admire you and your hair cuts!!

  • i love how it is a punky trendy cut, but a normal woman or man who wanted something different or messy looking could wear it to the office or to a rock concert! :-) the spanking technique was cool too! LOL!

  • Thanks, HairCam. You're work is genious!

  • HairCam,

I've been searching for YEARS for a hairdressor to do this type of cut. I end up modifying it myself with a razor at home. Is there anyway you could see me this 4-part video so I can give to my hairdresser? She doesn't have web so can't view it on YouTube.

  • I lost the original videos in a hard drive crash a year ago. Do you have internet service at your public library? She could view YouTube there.

  • wow, that hair cut is great, I wish I can have one like that. :D

  • LOVED THIS !!!! as a new stylist this extremely informative

  • as a new stylist, you should visit our forum at hairmaven (dot) com. There is plenty of education going on there!

  • Papi you cool barber.

  • ha ha, thanks!

  • Wow--that was fantatic. I'm buying a razor tomorrow, and my husband is a bit concerned. BTW, it would have been a little easier to see the detail if you'd worn a light shirt, and more bright in the video edit would have been good, for the next time. Thanks for posting this.

  • where did u get the blow dryer the cut awesome

  • nice vid . ruined by the stupid FUKIN radio in the background..

  • Awesome cut and it looks great on you! Great job, my sis is going to try the spanking on my hair this weekend. Wish us luck.

  • hiii l love you hairdryer weare can buy one

  • nice!

  • That looks so nice. o:

  • and then when you wash it it'll go back to normal...

  • yes

  • Awesome cut! COuld you possibly post the missing styling footage? I'd love to see how you styled the hair to make it look so polished but "messy" at the same time. Thanks!

  • The original shots were all deleted (sorry-hard drive space issues) But I can tell you that product is just as important (if not, more so) than technique. The technique is basically, manually mashing & tangling the hair at the root (can you say "tease") with a "past-y" type of product, all over your fingers. As your fingers come in contact with the hair, the product supports and defines. Experiment with different products of different consistencies.

  • nice! now thats anime! lol so what is this haircut called then? just a razor cut?

  • OMG AWESOME!

  • Thanks!

  • what a great haircut! You are very talented! I'd love for you to cut my hair!

  • Where in NC are you???? Love love love your videos, would love to come to any class you teach!

  • this haircut looks really nice on her ;D suits her facial structure. i like it~

  • wish you were in tulsa OK.....

  • Thank you for your input, you are absolutely correct. I just taught a CEU class for North Carolina hairdressers as part of their license requirements and the class was on cut and colour for facial shapes. Kathy has a oblong face and in my class I stated that long faces require more width (as you pointed out) however I also mentioned in the class that you really should give the client what she wants (or they just end up in someone elses chair) Kathy happens to be one of those clients.

  • Your video is a beautifull represantation of a razor cut however you added way too much length on the top where she really does not need it.You made her face look much longer. If i was her hairstylist i would grow out the sides and give some volume from crown to chin using scissors in a stroke technique and the end result would add voulume to the chin area where she needs it most.

  • What kind of blowdryer is that? it looks pretty cool.

i luv the cut! amazingly done with a razor

  • ugh... i really need a good hairstyle.... any one have suggestions???

(curly hair-almost afro-like, long hair/bangs....and is now straightening it....)

  • yeah, i got a question. well you see, my hair is not thick but not thin at all either. its also wazy but straightens out decently with the ironer. its currently right over my eyebrow and i was thinking of having it razor cut tomorow. or well, mainly the tips or something to make it seem softer and easier to move around and style. would this be a good idea?

also, where are you guys located? are you anywhere near Florida, Miami? Or you know anyone near who is good with razor cutting hair?

  • wavy*

im also not looking to spend too much money on it, but im not cheap either, so maybe at around 50 USD tops?

  • very nice. i really like it.

  • ANd Something More The style i want is very similar to the one you made to that woman...You are very good at your job i wished you could cut my hair ...And if you can plz answer this question cause i have given more than 100 euros trying waxes, clays, glue gels, style cremes...What did you used at the end? wax?and what was it ? High hair Wella?

  • Alas...the product I used was called NOLITA Molding Clay, but it has been discontinued. So far, the closest substitute I have found is SEBASTIAN Craft Clay. The secret is to break the material down in your hand before applying, and to use very little .... otherwise, too much and your hair will just look dirty.

  • This Is Called Razor HairCut oR Layered?

  • Well, layering is a type of haircut. There are round, square and concave (or "V")layers. Graduation is also considered a layered haircut. "Razor" haircut is it's designation because it is cut with a razor, as opposed to scissors. A razor will produce a softer, more moldable line than scissors can produce, so keeping in mind the finish styling, I chose to do this cut with a razor. The same cut can be done with scissors, but the end result wil look and behave differently.

  • Look i only want my hair to look when i style them like you know I cant explain..Like some Asian hairstyles not the extreme ones i have mid hair and i want my hair to look spiky edge when i style them. With my haircut i style them ok but they dont look like individual spikes or edges and that is what i dont like ....The told me Razor cut is the style im looking for but my hairdresser told me my hair is fine so it wont be ok and healthy...Do you get it ?

  • Running a razor through the ends will give you the texture you need. However, no matter how much texture you have, it can only be seen when you use the proper styling products and method. To get your spikey edges, break down the clay between your fingers and lightly apply just to the ends of small pieces of you hair to define each spike. Where your hair is fine, the weight of the hair itself may be holding it flatter to your head, so you may need to consider some layers on top.

  • super cool

  • wow I liked the technique, now I know what to do!!

    Thank you so much.

And yes it looks really nice.

  • love your hair cut look great on you

  • Thanks. Congrats for the job.

Do you have any video of a haircut for curly hair?

  • These videos are ace. I'm sure not a stylist, but after seeing these, I have better knowledge as a customer and can more easily communicate with my stylist.

  • I love that cut!!! Good job!!

  • Nicely done!!I loved the technique but to be honest i was expecting a more undergroung styling.. But by any means i would defenately trust my -weird- hair in your hands!!

  • ty for ur thining i will use tat ty very much ~

  • m so much in love wit the technique.... will surely try it on.....

  • BRAVO!!! nice hair cut...am going to try it to my aunt..very nice technique!

  • I just took State board... Hope I passed, I feel confident about that. Your video was the most helpful I've seen on you tube, thus far. I can't wait to see more. I will definitely try those techniques.

    Question:

I see alot of stylist use a razor and they cut into long hair (pretty much all lengths too) the way you did, but in a horizontal way, not taking off length, what does that do? Is there a specific name for it and a specific way to do it?

    Please let me know... THANKS!

  • "adding texture" is what you are doing with this technique. You are removing bulk from the outside of the haircut when you use a razor, thus making the hair more moldable. (much the same as if you took a thinning shesrs to the end of a haircut after the shape has been cut with regular scissors).

BTW hope your state boards went well.

  • Thanks! I'll be filling out an application for my license because I PASSED:-D. Thanks for the best wishes and if ever you want to do a video showing that technique... I'm all eyes;-D.

  • That is nice!!

  • wow that looks nice! you are awesome

  • Wicked cut, so talented, i dont think i am brave enough to try razor cutting, any tips??

Thanx for sharing ure techniques, cant wait to see more from you!!!!!!

  • Ill be back let me get my razor and call my little sister !

  • Wow, EXCELLENT job! I wish you could cut my hair! I went to get a razor haircut a few months ago and ended up with half as much hair on the right side of my head, and a mess that didn't look like much of anything...worst hair experience of my life...

  • Very very great cut, you have great style and technique i am a 14 year old male and im really interested in hairstyling. lol i am trying to find a way to make myhair stick out at the end, but my hair is little bit longer than shoulder length.

  • beautiful job

  • I love your techniques that you use.!!!!

I wanted to ask you some questions about Wella inspire.. would that be okay?

  • sure...actually I just went to a class today.

  • I agree, You do a very good job. Thank you for sharing. I was looking for some new techiques, and most of what I pulled up was a preview to buy somebodys dvd. Its really nice that you are willing to share your skills with others without making profit. Most people arent that generous, and comfortable with sharing. thanks!

  • Thank YOU, and best of luck in all your endevors.

  • Oh man! She looks terrific! I´ve got some hope now, I´am 36 and didn´t find my perfect hairstyle yet. I´ll keep on searching...

  • Thanks, and I'm sure you'll find the style that does you best! Persevere.

  • One, you love your job!

    Two, you have talent!

    Three, you have style...

So, into my eyes, you are an Artist, with big A.

First time in my life I can see this profession as an art, thank you for that.

  • Amazing!!! I am new to the field and am always looking for new razor techniques!!!

    Gimmie more!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unbelievable. Perfectly done.

  • That is awesome, could you show a twist cut? Love the haircut.

  • very very nice cut!!!

  • Yes it's completely dry. the second application takes out any static and tips the hair ends together.

You can pick up a dryer like mine at goodmans (dot)net search for a "elchim il-futuro ionic hair dryer" (I tried writing the URL to the page but evidently the YouTube software won't allow that ... sorry)

  • That cut is cute and really compliments her face.

I have to get me a blow dryer like yours. Is her hair completely dry when you stop and add the second dose of the "good stuff" and smooth her around?
