1) Why the radio in the background? That was annoying and distracting.
2) Thought this was going to be a modern fresh razor cut. By the time you got to the end, it looked like a grandma style. All the goop & hair spray. Too bad.
well done love..she looks great !..i find this Razor cut would suit to ppl who has thick hair...don´t u think? Asian hair would looks amazing ...they have perfect hair for razorcut...
@amber123446 Kathleen was in yesterday and even though it's been two years, her cut is still basically the same... just asymetric with the right side being almost to the chin and the left side about half way covering the ear.
i love how it is a punky trendy cut, but a normal woman or man who wanted something different or messy looking could wear it to the office or to a rock concert! :-) the spanking technique was cool too! LOL!
I've been searching for YEARS for a hairdressor to do this type of cut. I end up modifying it myself with a razor at home. Is there anyway you could see me this 4-part video so I can give to my hairdresser? She doesn't have web so can't view it on YouTube.
Wow--that was fantatic. I'm buying a razor tomorrow, and my husband is a bit concerned. BTW, it would have been a little easier to see the detail if you'd worn a light shirt, and more bright in the video edit would have been good, for the next time. Thanks for posting this.
Awesome cut! COuld you possibly post the missing styling footage? I'd love to see how you styled the hair to make it look so polished but "messy" at the same time. Thanks!
The original shots were all deleted (sorry-hard drive space issues) But I can tell you that product is just as important (if not, more so) than technique. The technique is basically, manually mashing & tangling the hair at the root (can you say "tease") with a "past-y" type of product, all over your fingers. As your fingers come in contact with the hair, the product supports and defines. Experiment with different products of different consistencies.
Thank you for your input, you are absolutely correct. I just taught a CEU class for North Carolina hairdressers as part of their license requirements and the class was on cut and colour for facial shapes. Kathy has a oblong face and in my class I stated that long faces require more width (as you pointed out) however I also mentioned in the class that you really should give the client what she wants (or they just end up in someone elses chair) Kathy happens to be one of those clients.
Your video is a beautifull represantation of a razor cut however you added way too much length on the top where she really does not need it.You made her face look much longer. If i was her hairstylist i would grow out the sides and give some volume from crown to chin using scissors in a stroke technique and the end result would add voulume to the chin area where she needs it most.
yeah, i got a question. well you see, my hair is not thick but not thin at all either. its also wazy but straightens out decently with the ironer. its currently right over my eyebrow and i was thinking of having it razor cut tomorow. or well, mainly the tips or something to make it seem softer and easier to move around and style. would this be a good idea?
also, where are you guys located? are you anywhere near Florida, Miami? Or you know anyone near who is good with razor cutting hair?
ANd Something More The style i want is very similar to the one you made to that woman...You are very good at your job i wished you could cut my hair ...And if you can plz answer this question cause i have given more than 100 euros trying waxes, clays, glue gels, style cremes...What did you used at the end? wax?and what was it ? High hair Wella?
Alas...the product I used was called NOLITA Molding Clay, but it has been discontinued. So far, the closest substitute I have found is SEBASTIAN Craft Clay. The secret is to break the material down in your hand before applying, and to use very little .... otherwise, too much and your hair will just look dirty.
Well, layering is a type of haircut. There are round, square and concave (or "V")layers. Graduation is also considered a layered haircut. "Razor" haircut is it's designation because it is cut with a razor, as opposed to scissors. A razor will produce a softer, more moldable line than scissors can produce, so keeping in mind the finish styling, I chose to do this cut with a razor. The same cut can be done with scissors, but the end result wil look and behave differently.
Look i only want my hair to look when i style them like you know I cant explain..Like some Asian hairstyles not the extreme ones i have mid hair and i want my hair to look spiky edge when i style them. With my haircut i style them ok but they dont look like individual spikes or edges and that is what i dont like ....The told me Razor cut is the style im looking for but my hairdresser told me my hair is fine so it wont be ok and healthy...Do you get it ?
Running a razor through the ends will give you the texture you need. However, no matter how much texture you have, it can only be seen when you use the proper styling products and method. To get your spikey edges, break down the clay between your fingers and lightly apply just to the ends of small pieces of you hair to define each spike. Where your hair is fine, the weight of the hair itself may be holding it flatter to your head, so you may need to consider some layers on top.
These videos are ace. I'm sure not a stylist, but after seeing these, I have better knowledge as a customer and can more easily communicate with my stylist.
Nicely done!!I loved the technique but to be honest i was expecting a more undergroung styling.. But by any means i would defenately trust my -weird- hair in your hands!!
I just took State board... Hope I passed, I feel confident about that. Your video was the most helpful I've seen on you tube, thus far. I can't wait to see more. I will definitely try those techniques.
Question:
I see alot of stylist use a razor and they cut into long hair (pretty much all lengths too) the way you did, but in a horizontal way, not taking off length, what does that do? Is there a specific name for it and a specific way to do it?
"adding texture" is what you are doing with this technique. You are removing bulk from the outside of the haircut when you use a razor, thus making the hair more moldable. (much the same as if you took a thinning shesrs to the end of a haircut after the shape has been cut with regular scissors).
Thanks! I'll be filling out an application for my license because I PASSED:-D. Thanks for the best wishes and if ever you want to do a video showing that technique... I'm all eyes;-D.
Wow, EXCELLENT job! I wish you could cut my hair! I went to get a razor haircut a few months ago and ended up with half as much hair on the right side of my head, and a mess that didn't look like much of anything...worst hair experience of my life...
Very very great cut, you have great style and technique i am a 14 year old male and im really interested in hairstyling. lol i am trying to find a way to make myhair stick out at the end, but my hair is little bit longer than shoulder length.
I agree, You do a very good job. Thank you for sharing. I was looking for some new techiques, and most of what I pulled up was a preview to buy somebodys dvd. Its really nice that you are willing to share your skills with others without making profit. Most people arent that generous, and comfortable with sharing. thanks!
WOW! She looks great! I'm from Mexico, and I'm studying, my next level'll be with razors so I can learn a lot of things from you, thank you so much and also thanks for sharing.
this is great thankyou so much for shareing your skills. I am a budding learner and have done many cuts and styles on friends and family have never been to college you could say i cut by ear like i play the piano by ear, but anyway this is exactly the type of thig i want to do next so thanks again.
