  • nice video. the fish/seal debate is ongoing at the barrage, and part of the 4.6 million regeneration project includes solving the problem. i'm currently in charge of the website teesbarrage.co.uk ... you might find some more info on there.

  • There are plenty of seals at the river mouth (South Gare), particularly in summer when Mackarel are about. Because of the lack of forethought at the building stage, the fish pass was inadequate and only a very small of migratory salmon actually make it upstream using the fish pass. I don't know about there being plenty of fish in the river below the barrage other than the trapped ones which are forced to congregate in a small area due to the obstruction. This is the seals' fast food outlet.

  • 4.6 mil spent on the barrage

  • They are doing extensive re-working of the barrage which will include a better fish pass. They must be plenty of fish in the river as the seal population is growing every year. The new fish pass will help up stream.

I have read that the white water course will also be extended.

  • super video as used to work there and love the seal who said there was no fish in the TEES

  • There are very few fish that are able to migrate up the river tees, partly due to poor construction of the barrage and partly due to predation by seals.

  • Really brill ejoyed the seal
