Switches are very useful around my streams. No need for a 13 ft rod. But a 10' 10'' 7 Wt is perfect!

Bob Meiser is the spey rod Yoda. He invented the term switch rod. He is a is a good caster and if you don't think so you don't know how to cast. I have a Meiser 15' 8/9 wt. I want buried with me and If I can't take it with me I'm not going. By the way, calling Bob Meiser a rod builder is like calling Henry Ford a car mechanic. What a bunch of idiot comments.

Love how everyone harps on the guy, but maybe 5% of them can cast a switch or spey rod...

You won't spook a fish on the opposite bank by anchoring your line on the near side. Also, in a riffle, pool, run sequence, you should cast upstream to drift your fly back. Even when skating for steelhead. He's not casting on top of the fish...

Fly tyers are not always great fly fishermen so rod builders do not have to be great casters they just have to understand how to build it not cast it.
