When this was released I got the album. This would be Liverpool 85. Couldn't believe how good it was. All my friends agreed. SP were MONSTERS! Should have been huge, but in the eyes of my friends and I, they were. :)
They played spring break at Rowan U., or Glassboro State College at the time, in 1985 if memory serves. Hell of a great band. We picked them over Cyndi Lauper and several other big names at the time.
I worked with Greg Persun at Computer Factory in downtown Philly... 16th and Chestnut area. He was a sales rep and I was in service. Nice guy. This was 1989-1991 time frame.
I saw them open for The Outfield at the Chestnut in Philly, 'til tuesday at the Tower in Upper Darby and headline a show at the Trocadero in Philly. Oddly I never saw them on this side of the bridge and it's where they're from. Great local band from that time. Their sound has changed so dramatically that's not even the same band anymore - even though the Butlers and the bassist are still part of it.
Incredible..Harry the drummer was my brother in law. What a great guy and drummer. If you read this..please drop me a note!! I can not believe this is posted.
Harry was a good guy from the few times I met him. I'm a drumemr and collect sticks... his is among them. Biggest stick of any I've seen or used. Just says Harry L Smash Palace on it. I've emailed him in recent years and he's replied. But we don't "know" one another beyond that. My sister used to have a Skip 5 45 though - one of his earlier (first?) bands.
I also have this cassette somewhere in my collection. Wasn't there a guitarist by the name of Greg (last name escapes me, might start with an "L") in the band during this time period ?
Thanks a bunch. Had a tape recording of this live at one point. Thanks for finding this. Makes me proud to be an 80's Philly fan. Smash Palace, Tommy Conwell, The Hooters, The A's, Robert Hazard some great sounds came out of Philly in the 80's.
What was the name of the album this single was from?

After Quincy split, members formed Smash Palace. They played my high school (fun show). This single should have been huge...

I worked with Harry Lewis back in '88 at Comcast Cable, Wayne Ave. in North Philly. We were both in the Drafting Dept.

I saw these guys at the Galaxy in NJ when I was in HS. I think a couple of the guys went to my HS. Collingswood NJ. Great times...

One of the better cassettes I owned in the 80s. I was sure they were related to the Psychedelic Furs in some way!

I LOVEEEEEEEE THIS SONG! I miss this type of music!! A synth as a vital organ to the body of music.

Great song. Reminds me of driving to my girlfriend's house listening to 97.5 WPST with this song blairing on the radio. Good Stuff!
