Thanks bigboreG for the comment! Glad to hear you liked the new combine so it's encouraging that it sounds Deere is heading the right direction with the new combine over the 9770. That's what we run right now is a 9770 and it's been really good for us.
We had a demo unit at our dealership in Oct 2011 wow what a machine! made a 9770 look like a fool! It was quite something to run that machine will never forget it.
It's your decision, I don't want to tell you what to do.I will tell you what we did. We use to run a 9610 with a 12 row head and 2 600 grain carts. Now we run a 9770 with one big 1,000 bushel 1050 Kinze grain cart that unloads fast. The 9770 eats a bit more corn and then now with running just one cart we eliminated one operator & tractor and greatly improved our efficiency. The 9770 combine has bigger unload hopper and unloads at faster rate. I would suggest towards trading for one newer combine
they'll have to plant about a 1000 acres of corn for the progress show with everybody rolling out 16 row heads running 8 mph. they'll be done before you got to see anything
I agree with you offie71 on with it's been getting more expensive and needs to stop that trend. Technology does need to move forward though. My point trying to say is in order for things to move forward dwelling on way things are and not how they used to be doesn't help moving forward. Adjustments have to be made with the times and I don't think that's ever really changed. No matter what time periods over history things have always changed and adjustments have always had to been made.
Thanks offie71 for comment... My opinions differ, equipment is supposed to advance in technology and always has gotten bigger over the years. Sure rates things happen vary in time periods. Lots of things other than farming have had to adjust with times so why would farming be any different. The cars and pick ups along with lots of other things that lots of people use that are made have gotten more advanced and expensive too. Too if somebody really wants to they can make it farming.
bigger bigger bigger and more expensive. when is it gona stop. the only way you can get into farming now is be born into it or marry into it. the days of starting your own farm are over
Well thanks kb4450359 for the comment and opinion! Regardless what it looks like I was impressed that they were the fastest of the combines there and were doing it with a 16 row head.
@kb4450359 ive heard people saying the 9500 was best and we have run a 9600 for 10 years now and it competed aginsnt a 8010 axial and the case just couldnt stay in the field long enough to wear the new paint off... i think we have made it clear we are either tradeing our 9600 for a newer style jd or gettin another 9600... we multiplyed our operation by 5 times and still use same equitment... long hours but low machinery cost!
Thanks farmerallis for the comment! Yeah that's what I thought is they had this combine flying! It looked without a doubt like the fastest one at the demo. The Claas Lexion was the other one that stood out from the rest in speed.
Nice combine..But same old design...inside...If only John Deere would go to Twin-Rotors...Then I Might go back to them.....but until then. Ill stick with my CAT's..

Thanks Clobenstine for the response back! I just saw this comment today, I must not have seen it in my email... I didn't know they're going away from Cummins motors.
I asked my dad for you. In early years he said IH weren't very good at handling rocks and Deere's were better. Then just kind of happened that he stayed with them and had good luck with them for most part... Well we've always run Case IH tractors and Deere combines since I've been around. I'm only 24. Before Case IH he ran Case tractors. He likes most about Case IH is the Cummins motor.
@Joelk1987 Gotchya, Makes sense if you have lots of rocks, they're both a pretty good machine, I've always felt the IH has cleaned the grain better, so that what we've always run.
Yeah we love the case tractors too, we have a 275 and a 215. Its to bad that they're walking away from the cummins motors. All the new Tier IV tractors have a Fiat engine.
We're gonna try a stick with the CIH cummins as long as we can. Thats part of the reason we got new tractors right before the new ones came out.

I have more footage too. I just thought I could probably get a lot of views out of a new john deere combine video of a combine that's not even sold yet. haha... Actually we will never buy a combine that's the release of a new redesigned model line. We bought the 9760 when it was a first year model and thing was nothing but headaches and countless different things breaking down from design flaws. Now our 9770 has been pretty flawless which thats a more just honed model of what they had before it.
Newer ones look way better

these new combines are uglyl as sin. the last decent looking series produced was the 50 series. best combine ever built though was the 9500
