The William Crooks was the first steam locomotive to run in Minnesota, and has been beautifully displayed at Duluth's Lake Superior Railroad Museum since 1975. Google it and check the "Exhibits" link.
If you stop the video at 0:30 you can see the name Wm. Crooks on the cab. And a Great Northern Railroad Rocky the Goat Logo. This is the engine that was in Saint Paul Union Station for years! Right in front of the ticket office. It was removed, thinking St Paul Union would maybe be torn down. Well today, the new light rail system and the commuter rail is planned for it. Work has started to reopen it as a rail city and transit development. I think the engine should come back!
@intercityrailpal It is a American type like the General, but it's Great Northern Railroad's Wm Crooks from Saint Paul Union Station. In Minneosota. The station here is the Union Station in Elmira. Erie-Pennsylvania Railroads.
@intercityrailpal thanks for info! Was hoping someone would have more information as all I had was "the Pioneer train, 1939" Looked up the 1939 World's Fair and it listed the General as being on display. Pretty cool that both steamers were there! The engines have a lot in common! Same type, same era, 1939 World's Fair, and many who are very unhappy with their current residence!
Technically, those are not Lackawanna tracks - they are Erie tracks. That is the Erie station - didn't merge with Lackawanna until the late 1950s.
