reminds me of claudia zobel back in 1984 when she died in a car accident,Magdalena..buong magdamag was released and was a big hit. she was in the movies for less than a year,made 4 full length films which catapulted her as the new bold queen,she also made a cameo in Lino Brocka's Kapit sa patalim..bayan ko which was never released. she was buried Valentines day 1984 in her native cebu.

i just love this song, it reminds me of how hard was life before when i was a little bit younger and how my parents struggled and tried to raised us because of poverty......to me it's a very sad song but very meaningful.

Freddie Aguilar is Pinoy's Bob Dylan. His songs are about common folk. He champions hopeless folks with hopeless causes. It all goes deep to the heart. Magdalena is about life of a prostitute driven there because of poverty.

Magdalena was the name of a woman who worked as a prostitute due to poverty. This is the theme song of a Philippine movie, with the same title in 1980's.
I just interpret it but didn't watched the film. Anyway, thanks for your comment. It's true that this song has nice melody.

Magdalena is a filipino term of Mary Magdalene who was a prostitute during the time of Jesus Christ, and to this modern time it literally means a prostitute. It's for her when Jesus said the famous teaching "let the one who has no sin cast the first stone" and it is also the message of the song.
