  • what is this song called?

  • LOVE YOU BIG RED!!

  • His autopsy showed that his heart was twice the size of the average horse. Twice.

  • Big Red

  • all horses are good. even the ones that lose. but the best. is big red. love ya big red. rest in peace.

  • "He is moving like a tremendous machine". Quote by announcer about Secretariat's performance during the Belmont. Go big Red!!

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. The video posted elsewhere of him hobbling from laminitis the day before he was euthanized is heartbreaking. I'd rather remember him this way!

  • r.i.p secretariat the greastest racehorse

  • Excellent!

  • This is just an oppinion becuase MAn o war was THE best race horse ever he ran 72 races lost only two and he beat Sir Baarton a triple crown winner aslo he only lost once unlike Secritariate who lost 2 times and raced aout 10 times.

  • @trosselit Its too bad that Man O'War's idiot owner didn't let him race in The Triple Crown.

  • just before his passing, older and in pain he could run like a champion. He wil be in the record books and with those that love "big red" forever

  • I love bIg red I wish he was still around

  • I have got the Video Secretariat. I had never heard of him before. But after watching it then reading about him I am so proud that I bought it. I have a 17hh Thoroughbred gelding called Harry and I love him dearly... God Bless Secretariat !! xxxx

  • he is an adored, one of a kind. What a wonder this magnificent animal holds, such total love for who, and what he lived for. He knew he was the best, proved it, and showed the world.

  • What is the song called please ?

  • @Kardyf

    Storm by Theatre of Tragedy

  • luv tht horse:)

  • One last point the year Winning Colors won the Kentucky Derby I noticed Risen Star after a very rough trip coming like a Fright Train at the wire. Took him a a big price in the Preakness and won and again in the Belmont with him looking as close to his Daddy winning by 15 or so that I ever seen. Better break in Derby he would have won it and the Triple Crown as well.

  • Big Red left his mark through his daughters that many have went on to produce great Sires like Storm Cat. He was never going to reproduce himself, sorry people but a Horse like him comes around once in a Lifetime if you are lucky, prior to him Man O War and since him none.

  • When you see this the only thing that runs through your head is

"How the fuck did he do that?" Answer easily explained

"He was /THE/ Greatest racer to ever live" Case closed

  • Amen

  • very very nice video!!!congrats ;) but whats this song??i really like it

  • the man that was his handler at the kentucky horse park told me that I should apply to be big reds handler when he stayed at the barn of fame, given that he was smitten with me!, I was a handler of show jumping horses from a farm here in pittsburgh, we were at the park for a show, I told his handler that if it were not for the ten other horses in my care back home I may concider it! Just being close to him was an honor that I will never forget! and he had big, beautiful kind eyes as well!

  • Yes, @wondermouth1, I was truely blessed to have met and loved on this gorgeous horse!, I stand 6' 1" so rubbing behind his ears wasn't a problem, after getting to know each other, his handler released him into his padock, he decided to show off a bit for me by running around the fence line a few times, with his head and tail held high of course!, I'd lke to think that he sensed my respect for him when I entered his stall, hence why I never got bit! He ras very sweet and huge! ;o)

  • Yes, @wondermouth1, I was truely blessed to have met and ;oved on this gorgeous horse!, I stand 6' 1" so rubbing behind his ears wasn't a problem, after getting to know each other, his handler released him into his padock, he decided to show off a bit for me by running around the fence line a few times, with his head and tail held high of course!, I'd lke to think that he sensed my respect for him when I entered his stall, hence why I never got bit! He ras very sweet and huge! ;o)

  • I had the extreme honor of meeting him at the kentucky horse park in 1989, his handler was amazed that I was the only person ever to enter his stall that he did not try to bite!, He was truely stunning! and very sweet! liked being rubbed behind his ears! and I planted a kiss between his nostriles on his " velvet"! I got a habit of doing that to horses! they are one of Gods most majestic of creations! Secretariat was a gorgeous boy! ;o)

  • @michelelhess1 I have no way of knowing what you said was true. But if it is...God bless you!....You are a lucky person! People would kill to have that experience!!

  • @Wondermouth1 I was truely blessed to get to love on this magnificant horse! I was at the park for a horse show for my jumpers that I traveled across the country with! kissing his velvet was awesome! then he showed off for me in his padock! such a sweet boy! My heart broke when I heard of his passing!

  • FANTASTICO!!!

  • Well along with him is Makybe Diva, Phar Lap and now Balck Caviar

and Blacks a Fake(trotter) but yeah they are all the Greatest race horses

  • but you guys live in america

  • what made this horse so special....Is that he had the X factor passed down from a horse called pocahantas . When they did a autopsy on secretariat they found that he had a heart that was like 2 times the size as a normal horse heart. so in a sence he had a bigger motor than the rest

  • @mrlaurengrahamfan64 two and half times normal size - they estimated it weighed 22 pounds but they were being conservative because they knew shams heart was a lot smaller.

  • Maybe he didnt have many good racers through his proginy but I see that differently... he had 2 brilliant females who have gone on to give birth to giants causeway and storm cat.... things need to be in perspective to understand whats really what in todays world and especially how we type or talk about this. There is always so much negative bad stuff and yet we forget about the great things like secritariat!!!..

  • @WHISKARDI for the record, Man O War had 63 stakes winners, Sec had 57.

  • @80cathryn Maybe so but i was not replying to that. i was typing that secritariat was a horse of greatness. Man O War having 63 stakes winners is fantastic but i never mentioned Man O War, I was talking about Secritariat.... Man O War was his predecessor and for me these two should not be compared as they both had there own greatness...

  • Nobody better.NOBODY!

  • thanks so much Secretariat, best ever, R.I.P

  • I love Secretariat I have lots of things that has him on it

  • whats the name of the song?

  • AMEN TO THAT! I second that!

  • No other horse in history quite like him. No normal horse can run a 12 clip for a 1 1/2 mile distance on dirt. If asked by Turcotte he would have broken Fiddle Isle record on grass at Santa Anita which was done in 1970 in 2:23 flat so said 'To the Swift'. And Secretariat ran that Belmont without even raising a sweat. He did it all by himself said Turcotte. Hail to the 'KING'.

  • Secretariat is my horse's (Wizardmicktee) great great grandsire <3

  • El caballo perfecto....the Big Red :)

  • agreed the best ever

  • Magnificent horse! ♥♥♥ An interesting note about his abilities is that his greatest asset was his huge heart. With everything else being equal, his musculature, attitude, bone structure, if he hadn't had such a big heart (literally), it may have all been for naught. The heart size comes from the mother's line. Secretariat was fortunate to have received all the best qualities of his parents and their ancestry. One of a kind! Breeders should have placed more emphasis on the mare's ancestry.

  • If any of you happen to have an ex-racer, chances are they are related to Secretariat. He sired over 600 foals and the majority of the population of racers are great/great-great grandsons/daughters of him. The jockey club is a useful way to find this :)

  • he looks delicious

  • Secretariat will ALWAYS be THE MAN!!!

  • i love it

  • Nothing could touch him. Would have been cool if he and Man O' War had lived and raced at the same time. Hell of a match race. They don't breed racehorses like these anymore, they are so much more fragile now.

  • Can't get enough of Big Red...The PERFECT racehorse.

  • hw amazing what a beauty and how strong he is

  • I'm started collecting Breyer model horses and that's the next horse I want to get

  • yeah its an so great horse *_*

can anybody tell me the name of the song

  • Move over Man O' War, here comes SECRETARIAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • aww i LOVED that video 3

  • Andy looks a lot like him... he just cant race like he did. haha

  • i own his his great grandson! his race name was Still 2 (but he sucked) lol but his name now is Andy.

  • yeah lol. secretariat babys arent goodr acers

  • @TBShorses Guess you've never heard of Risen Star. Secretariat was also a great brood mare sire.

  • @TBShorses Yes...especially Risen Star. Terrible horse!!!

  • @parellihorseluvr i know some one that owns one of his great grandsons 2 but this one was named proud alired and he was almost the second secretariat until he shattered his pastern and went against the odds and developed a calcium deposit so he completely healed but he cant bend the joint but he jumps 3 feet and is retired from racing now

  • This may sound WAK but erm about6months ago my family and I went up to our aunts ranch and too our surprise she was talking to this lady about taking her horse away because they lady hadn't worked him for 4 months(and there was nothing wrong with him) So my aunt was saying,we need to take your horse, he could die if he doesn't work. so the lady gave the horse (Feller) to my aunt+we bought him from her b/c she didn't have rom4him in her barn. and it turns out he was secretariats great grandfather

  • wow you are to lucky loliw ould drool and have a heart attack.

  • haha Yeah :) but he got sent to arizona to get further training

  • thats awesome. i would have loved to have him.

  • Yeah, he's great

  • @SuperponyRidur That would make the horse your family bought one pretty darned old equine. since both of Secretariat's grandsires (Nasrullah and Princequillo) were foaled in 1940, imagine how old any of his great-grandsires would be.

Something's seriously wrong with the math here...

  • @SuperponyRidur but how cause if he was his great grandfather than he would have ben dead way before secretariats time cause secretariat was 19 when he died so he would have to be extremly old. So how is that possible?

  • @SuperponyRidur im confused, or did i read yr story right.... u say bout 6months ago (which would b a yr an half now..... no way u had secratariats great grandfather... maybe his great grandson ...??? makes no sense... sorry just curious to know what u meant.

  • @SuperponyRidur did you mean secretariat's great grand son??.. Otherwise, that is AWESOME :O i've seen a few of his grandson's and great grandson's on youtube.

  • @SuperponyRidur A very interesting comment; especially when you go back 3 generations and find that all of Sec great grandfathers were deceased as of the late 1950's.
