Here I am, watching this video, and have replayed Metroid Prime and currently replaying Prime 2. Metroid Prime is going to have it's 10th anniversary this year, and it's still one of the best games you can play today.
this game was awesome,played it twice, had to get the players guide though ! i haven't played video games since the game cube , I'm considering getting the next wii
I will never buy a game from a flea market EVER AGAIN!!!!! Why, you may ask? I had "supposedly" bought a copy of Metroid Prime, but when I got home and opened it, what do I see? A STUPID-ASS COPY OF METROID PRIME 2: ECHOES!!!! WTF*9000?????!!!!!!!! The stupid part: the game was scratched so bad, I couldn't play it on my GameCube OR my Wii! What the fuck is up with that shit?! Thumbs up if the same thing happened to you guys.
I would argue that this might even be the best first person shooting game ever made. Of course it's more of a first person adventure than a shooter. I enjoy that the game doesn't consist purely of mindless shooting and requires actual thinking in how you progress through the game.

If there is any game someone should play on the GamCube this is most definitely one of the games that MUST be played. Probably more so than any other game on the system.

A lot of todays games are crap compares to this. If you ever owned a GameCube or n64 you never sold it cause they had the best games. PS2 and xbox owners who never owned a gamecube could never understand the feeling of playing such an incredible game. This game combined the somewhat hardcore action of FPS with the exploration of a Zelda game. I know people who play COD that wouldn't last an hour playing these games cause they want constant action and have no patience for exploration and replay.

Oh...the memories...The memories of playing the greatest series ever created...I played every metroid game. And by every, I meant Fusion, Prime 1-3, and Hunters. I've not played the older ones. I'm downloading Metroid Prime to use on an emulator, and even if I can't get the controls down, at least it will quench my nostalgia. (If that's even the right word) Metroid was, and always will be, the greatest game series ever created.
When people bitch about Wii graphics and try to act like Nintendo graphics have always sucked, I dont have to go back far, I just say, look at Metroid Prime. @zzyzx0788 Nintendo's always been the front runner in terms of graphics. The Wii is their first console that was below the competition in terms of raw horse power and all of a sudden people forget about the rest.
Funnily enough (I know it's not a fair comparison) the Wii-U will be the best graphical console next year. I really hope it's a return to form by Nintendo as they have always been a 'hardcore' gamer's company. The Wii lost them a lot of their dedicated fans.

Two years I own this game and it's taken me until now to realize that the crashed frigate is the same one you encounter in the beginning of the game. -_-
Actually, I will add one more thing. There is a vast difference between aesthetic beauty and graphical clarity or detail. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus may not be the most technologically advanced games on the market, but their aesthetics are what have allowed them to still remain relevant in conversation--Heavy Rain might have had some of the most impressive graphics, but it won't be remembered in five or seven years.

I hate how people think visuals are high polygon counts. Good visuals is creativity and art work. You have be given the idea you are actually there. SNES games did this... do you think it was their high polygon count or shading? No.
I'm not trying to troll here, but I don't recall the graphics ever being considered "mind blowing." Dead or Alive 3 and Resident Evil (the remake) were "mind blowing" in those days, not necessarily this. It was unique, but there were other titles with superior visuals during this time.

@whiteganser I disagree. Game Dev's are becoming very lazy and relying on graphics to move what is more often than not a crappy game (e.g. Call of Duty series). Every freaking game seems to end up as some variation on a FPS. Now that is freaking lazy:
Step 1) License a 3D engine
Step 2) pay graphic designers 90% of the budget to make some flashy graphics
Step 3) try and make up a story line or some form of game 'flavour' to make the FPS feel unique.

@sgacz55 Actually If you have a gaming pc or 360 or ps3 there are games like halo reach, call of duty modern warfare2, crysis 2 and god of war 3 that look breathtakingly awsome. If you don't believe me! Look on youtube but only watch in 720 or 1080 so you'll at least see most of the in game detail.

Actually, I will add one more thing. There is a vast difference between aesthetic beauty and graphical clarity or detail. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus may not be the most technologically advanced games on the market, but their aesthetics are what have allowed them to still remain relevant in conversation--Heavy Rain might have had some of the most impressive graphics, but it won't be remembered in five or seven years.

I hate how people think visuals are high polygon counts. Good visuals is creativity and art work. You have be given the idea you are actually there. SNES games did this... do you think it was their high polygon count or shading? No.

I'm not trying to troll here, but I don't recall the graphics ever being considered "mind blowing." Dead or Alive 3 and Resident Evil (the remake) were "mind blowing" in those days, not necessarily this. It was unique, but there were other titles with superior visuals during this time.

@BoyAsVenus That's because neither Dead or Alive 3 or Resident Evil are proper "competitors" to Metroid Prime's visuals. Like i said, in terms of artistic direction and graphical implementation, the only title which could be compared directly to Metroid Prime, was MGS2.

You can make the bold claim that Dead or Alive 3 a had inferior "graphical implementation" to Metroid Prime all you want, but you are only deceiving yourself--you may win support from rabid Metroid fans, but no one else will be that gullible. What qualifies as superior "artistic direction" is absolutely subjective; thus, like all opinions, it is a worthless judgement to make.

I am an artist as well; I've graduated from an art school, and I can tell you that what makes "good art" is nothing but a series of worthless opinions. Warhol, Dali, Klimt and Pollock can be all be strung together next to Da Vinci and they are still considered "great art" because tradition says so, but no one would dare compare them by the same standard.

This is probably the best of the primes. funny how the wii itself hasnt really had games that look better than this (maybe prime 3) also dont know about u but i still prefer playing this with the gamecube controller. every time i played the wii version i was missing the gamecube controller feel of this game.

We may have to be patient and wait until they actually get back to these graphics.
Just like how my Dad said, "Black and white movies seem to be getting popular again..."
Although I bet they have added color. If not, they changed the sound to make it realistic sounding.
Which is not a bad thing. It actually gets better.
I bet some day, we'll get these graphics again...but even better...

@whiteganser I disagree. Game Dev's are becoming very lazy and relying on graphics to move what is more often than not a crappy game (e.g. Call of Duty series). Every freaking game seems to end up as some variation on a FPS. Now that is freaking lazy:
Step 1) License a 3D engine
Step 2) pay graphic designers 90% of the budget to make some flashy graphics
Step 3) try and make up a story line or some form of game 'flavour' to make the FPS feel unique.

@sgacz55 Actually If you have a gaming pc or 360 or ps3 there are games like halo reach, call of duty modern warfare2, crysis 2 and god of war 3 that look breathtakingly awsome. If you don't believe me! Look on youtube but only watch in 720 or 1080 so you'll at least see most of the in game detail.

1. Killzone 3 is generally regarded as the best looking console game, that or Crysis 2. Despite consoles not being able to produce PC quality graphics, they're still incredibly impressive. @whiteganser /sigh. I just said for a console that looks slick. PC graphics eclipsed that years ago. I never said Killzone 3 is not a good game - it gets a heap of praise but you cannot hold it up as some paragon of computer graphics. the PS3 hardware is freaking archaic and no amount of shouting at me or insulting me will change that. What killzone 3 (and other games) have managed to squeeze out of that old clunky PS3/xbox is impressive. (and killzone 3 does not look amazing, sorry kid)
