  • You got a bad cold and sore throat? ^^

  • @Wolfsblut3003: Lol, sort of, yeah '^^. The good news is a got a LOT better since this video ^^

  • Did you ever record the clean version? I really do not like the original from Nightwish :) If I may (I don't know the first thing about singing), IMHO the interpretation would benefit from a little more strain. It seems like you have a naturally very high pitched voice that allows you to sing in falsetto without any effort at all, therefore if you "pushed" it a little bit harder the song would be more "powerful", I think. By the way, very well done!! ;)

  • I love your covers and you edit them very well!

This one is really good but I didnt like the growl parts, your voice is too gental to sing them properly.. However I dont like any growls and maybe I understand nothing about it xD

But your voice is amazing and I'm waiting for another cover of yours ^^

Nemo of Nightwish would be just great!

  • the growls are not meant for this song. -.-

  • i love your outfit :D

  • ah, I take it you do the background voices as well? I started to suspect lipsinking for a minuet there, lol.

Is that really you growling? It's not bad

  • @thex13thxchild: Yes, the backing vocals are mine too. I realise they sound a little a little bit weird as people are more used to me singing the clean part;)

But the main part I am singing here is the growling ans yes, it is really me;). Thanks:)

  • @Ar0undTheSun that's pretty well done!

  • shit

  • Оригинал шикарен, а ваш кавер: АФФТАР ВЫПЕЙ ЙАДУ!!!!!!!

  • need a 2nd vocalist??? =)

  • need a 2nd vocalist =)

  • your clean vocals are good, but your growls are weak they need more power and air. keep on practicing ;)

  • Please just stick with the singing...

  • you're definitely one of the few people i know who does nightwish and after forever justice.

you're definitely one of the best ive ever heard.

request: Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

  • @XZanzaX97 what the hell are you smoking?

  • How did I miss this?!. Whose hands are in around 2:35? Yours? :).

  • @jamesjiao: lol^^ Yes, that's my hands, I didn't have a walk-on actor to help;)

  • Awesome! There are not many girls that can growl that good! Also the clean voice sounds charming. But the headbanging you still have to learn ^^'

    I love it tho!

  • @Yviman : Thanks:). About the headbanging, I must be lacking practice^^

  • OMG simply Amazing!!! Extremely creative!!! I luv it!

PS. in luv again hahaha :P

  • @Jmetal83 : Thank you very much:D! "Creative" was something I was really trying to do with this cover, so I'm glad it worked a little:)

  • Look and sound amazing! Seriously good!!!

  • @309JT: thank you my friend:)

  • Amazing! I'm curious about your gear setup now because I know it's difficult to record harsh vocals on my gear... I've heard about that Melissa Cross who coaches Angela of Arch Enemy and Dani of CoF, but I've never got to check out her DVDs. I know some people who swear by them, though. I'd just say that harsh vocals are like any other vocals, if it doesn't hurt then it is ok to do it that way... that's my experience at least

  • @RecklessGypsy: Thank you!!! Well, I don't know what to tell you about my gear setup, it's exactly the same as usual: stage mic+sound card pre-amp. I just checked the levels to avoid saturation between the clear and the growl parts. What problems do you encounter?

  • @Ar0undTheSun Well you see, I use a Shure C108 dynamic mike and a 'built-in' Realtek soundcard that has no preamp whatsoever. The frequency response isn't exactly stellar, neither is the dynamics. I have to stack compressors and finetune the EQ, otherwise harsh vox I record tend to sound rather flat. I am looking to invest in some new gear, so it would be nice to know the models you're using because I really like the sound you have.

  • @RecklessGypsy: I understand, built-in soundcards are really a pain in the ..., well, I mean you could find much better^^. About the gear, honestly, it's easier to buy a good mic than a good sound-card/mix table (cheapier). If you're looking to buy a mic, for what purpose do you need it? Stage or studio? I am using a Shure beta58A and an Edirol external sound card (UA 25 EX). I'd really need a more appropriate mic for studio recordings.. :S This on is great on stage though:).

  • @Ar0undTheSun Thanks for the info!.. Just for my home studio, I don't see myself performing with a band in foreseeable future. All in all, looks like I need a better paying job if I want a decent sound :) Tops of what I can afford now is the Infrasonic Amon soundcard, and here it comes twice cheaper than yours :) Edirol totally rocks, I have a midi keyboard by them. The best investment of my teenage years, even though my playing still sucks :)

  • @RecklessGypsy : part 2 (that was too long for 1 comment ^^):

I know about Melissa Cross dvds but to be honest I didn't find them very useful because they only teach how not to hurt your voice and I already know that from my classical classes, that's actually the only thing I do know and I a little limited by it lol.. What I don't know is how to make interesting sounds with your voice, how to go very low, things like that... You know what I mean?;)

  • @Ar0undTheSun Yes, I think I get what you mean :) Have you looked through the video lessons some guys post here on youtube? Some of them get quite creative, but I don't really know if it's possible to actually _learn_ anything from them :/ I've never really looked up into learning to do harsh vox because they have never been a priority nor a challenge (unlike clean vox), I just check every now and then if what I'm doing isn't harmful in the long run.

  • @RecklessGypsy: I searched on Youtube and there are some interesting videos indeed. Not ground-breaking, but with useful tips.

I'm sorry I'm writing in English btw, I don't have a Russian keyboard and I don't know it by heart so I'm a bit lazy;). I hope you don't mind.

Do you have a band or something? I'd be glad to listen to your singing:)

  • @Ar0undTheSun Oh, it's me who should apologise for being lazy :) I actually speak French, but a) my spelling is shaky; b) I have a problem memorising how to get the accents on the keyboard :) so I didn't feel like butchering such a beautiful language :)

No, no band, I'm just recording covers to get the knack of mixing etc. I'm not good enough to upload anything yet for the world to hear, but if you're curious, I could send you a coupla mp3s. Good for a laugh, if anything.

  • @RecklessGypsy: Hi, apparently I didn't answered this before leaving^^. Yes, I'm very curious to hear your singing:).

  • I just listened to [most of] the original with Anette. I didn't realise it was her, I thought it would be Tarja. You are so much better! I know that Anette is talented, but I'm not too keen on her. As I think you're more like Tarja, I assumed it was her, lol.

    I prefer your version :)

  • @Sapphire848:

    XD

  • Kaita, this is great! :D I was so excited when my email told me that you had posted a new video but I was not expecting anything as well done as this.

The effects make such a good visual this time and add more dimention to your performance, like a real music video does :)

Your voice is still very pretty with a sweet texture. The growl is an interesting auditory effect and works quite well. I'm glad there are clean bits, though.

Last but not least, you are gorgeous in this video :)

  • @Sapphire848: Thank you very much! It's great you're writing such detailed comments too;)

  • Wooow it's amazing :D You did it very well ! Did you learned growling by yourself ?

  • @MissTFC: Erm... yes, I did or maybe it would be more accurate to tell that I'm trying to learn^^..

    Thank you :D

  • Nice i love it ;-)

  • @kehali : Thanks!

  • I'm so glad I subscribed

  • @JoJy54: :))

  • Katia, it's amazing!

I really loved how you look like here :)

And the effects are LOL XD Very funny dear but really good :)

  • @StormColdSoul : Thank you so much! Hope you're alright, sweetie:)

  • wow. a new cover. I like it!

  • @lianpalima: Thanks:)

  • This is fantastic Katia. Love it. james:)

  • @ignitionfive: Thank you:)!

  • You have out done yourself this time Katia ...This is Brilliant!!! Excellent!! Beautiful!!! Very well done, like it, love it a lot!!! Another masterpiece for my ArOundTheSun play list ;)

  • @TarjaTurunen1Fan : Thank you sooooo much XDXDXD! It means a lot to me:)

  • Finally a new video!!! I loved the effects and of course your voice is absolutely wonderful... as usual. :) Great cover!

  • @firensia : Thank you very much:)

  • At the beginning of this week I just asked me when your next Video will be uploded :) The vid is great, but to be true, I prefer the clean parts. You really have a exceptional voice.

  • @shalieria : Thank you very much:). I understand about the clean parts, as I said , guttural vocals are just something I'm trying "for fun";).

Merci beaucoup sinon:)

  • Very good cover... as always :-) When you're headbanging you seem like little Simone Simons :-P The growl thing wasn't necessary IMO.

  • @DreamsMoviesStudio ; LOL for "little". Thanks for commenting:D

  • Was that you growling??? It was really good growling!!! You really never fail to amaze me!

  • @vruchtegebak : hehe, that weird, badly controlled thing? Yes, it was me:D. Thank you:)

  • This is amazing! Nice video too XD

  • The dancing and headbanging is soooo awkward, gotta love it. XD

Nice singing. :) A few tones too high though, I believe. And also a little bit toooo~ soft for Anette's singing style. But still a really good cover version. Like it! :]

  • @Animagladius: lol, thank you:). You're right, it's a bit too high sometimes, I didn't noticed it right after I made the cover, I guess I was too used to it. That's one of the hardest parts: distancing yourself from what you just made;)
