I was there in 1990 for the Big Day, I was 14. They were on last after Big Country and, ahem, Sheena Easton who got deserved pelters. And FUCK ME! I'll never forget it it the whole of Glasgow bouncin' up and down. Neds, Mums, Dads, Weans, 200 thousands souls...all for free. City of Culture indeed.
right fair enough theyre an awesome band and im a fan but why the fxxk they sound american?i haste that accent pish, look at the proclaimers, funny as they might sound...at least their not kidding anyone.especially themselves!
i never heard a scot who spoke with rickys singing accent lol
@toryglenlad1234 hey man they were a classic band i listen now and i am dying at 37 up deacon blue i remeber being working with my dad wow still blows me away in ireland respaect for life in the 80s cool fucking shit
we were all pissed adamski never showed, but deacon blue were fukin immense, especially the antio thatcher rant, got the place rockin. tears erupted when dignity started. never forget it it was 5 days before i passed my driving test.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest bands of the Eighties, often under rated. The thing I love about Deacon Blue is that they were a band who knew where they were from and weren't that interested in celebrity. Don't care what anyone says about the late eighties - this stuff sounds better 20 years on!!
ariel pink totally jacked the chorus for round and round from this tune

cazwales 1 year ago
@cazwales I didn't attend (watched it live on Channel 4 if my memory serves me). Yeah the crowd was huge (even for Glasgow Green standards).

@cazwales Doh! Just remembered, it was a free gig, no wonder the crowd was so big, ha ha.
