Geeky Betta: Y'know, one day... I'll live in a mansion. And you'll be in some college kid's apartment, swimming in a tupperware with a goldfish twice your size!
people who say smaller tanks are harder to maintain talk nonsense. Dont listen to them ive had a 15 gallon for 2 years and have had no fish deaths and ammonia levels have always stayed at zero, just make sure you have a decent filter and aerate your tank well.
@ipoker69 I had a few fishes in there the second day, and they all died after a week. Then I put this Betta in and all was good. Later on I remember reading somewhere that people buy inexpensive fishes to put in new tanks to make the ammonia levels stabilize faster. I guess that's what I did unintentionally.
@ipoker69 Or you could through a few inexpensive live plants in it. Something like luwiga or wisteria should do the trick. They would die eventually due to lack of light, but in the mean time it shoulw make your amonia levels stable.
Wow, very nice. I'm not knocking you or anything but you must LOVE betta fish if you're gonna get a tank that big and nice that you'll only put that in it, Nice though :)
My Betta is identicle to yours. I think this tank is beautiful with just the one betta fish. I have a nano fluval edge. And have a betta and four little neon tetras. i am considering moving these tetras or finding them a new home.
The plants you have in there are called 'Umbrella Ferns' They aren't actually true aquatic plants but should last a few months. I'd recomend plastic or silk plants with any of the BiOrb tanks as the lighting is not usually sufficient for real plants (accept maybe Java fern or some crypto./ anubias)
First, never keep 2 male Betta in the same tank, they will try to kill each other. Second, Bettas are freshwater fishes and clownfish live in the ocean (saltwater fishes).
You should do some research before mix different fish together.
@aliasm4n5 yeah the guy at the aquarium shop told me. ive got rubbish goldfish for now as my tank needs maturing in a few months i will get some tropical fish.
@Matthew0161 "Rubbish Goldfish" What a sad view of life! There is nothing wrong with goldfish at all. They are varied, vibrant, friendly, hardy, and compatible.
Obviously from reading your other comment you're really new to fishkeeping; I'd stick with goldies if I were you. You can mix lots of different species and get a nice compatible variety, and they are a lot more hardy than tropical and certainly marine fish.
They are not just a pet for kids because they are easier to care for...
@HeyIamAJ I want tropical fish. After christmas i am going to by a heater and some hardy tropical fish. gold fish are boring and ugly. i have done some research and i know what fish to mix together so dont worry i know what i am doing now ;)
if there is enough room in the tank for the two males to have their own space, you can add another, but there's always a risk. also, if you add females, be sure to have 2 females to each male.
@shinexbritexeyes NO YOU CANNOT!! Its is extremely rare that you ever find two males that are willing to get along in any tank size, and even in a planted fifty gallon, if they happen upon one another your going to end up with a nasty fight and if one male doesn't die from the fight itself, he'll probably die from infection. Don't tell people this crap because not only is it NOT TRUE, stupid idiots wouldn't put in the time or give up the space to make it even kinda work.
@FiestyCat86 I've seen it done, fish are like you and I, clearly they don't all have the same temperament. I did not say that it was common, or particularly the case, but just in case you did not notice the part of my comment that said "there's always a risk", well... THERE'S ALWAYS A RISK.
@ilovethesims2101 omg I totilay agrreee!!!C people think they can live in tiny spaces were they cant even turn around. but they prefer larger waters. if i were a beta I would LOVE to live there :D
@kentuckyfriedmeat96 Well, I won't say that you absolutely couldn't, but the small opening at the top and the weird shape of the aquarium makes it almost impossible to clean and maintain (and you will need to do a lot of cleaning and maintaining if you have live plants). I guess if you want to have small floating plants it could work, but I would suggest against larger submerged plants :)
Is it tough to keep the live plants in there? I mean, do you have to get your arm in that little hole in the top of it? It looks lovely. However, maybe there's something else you can do with the thermometer. It really takes away from the asthetic of the biube.

Java ferns work well with the Biorb Life (mine's still alive anyway!). Everything else seems to need more light or a finer substrate.
