  • Dude you banged out that solo like it was nobody's business....you are a GOD!!! Excellent!!

  • Holy Shit...you're good! How long have you've been playing?

  • Wow, Amazing cover bro!

  • Awesome tapping!!

  • hi, fantastic playing! Where did you find that backing track?

  • @ak47dragunov Thanks! I don't remember exactly where I got it, but usually I find my backing tracks at guitarbackingtrack . com.

  • this song is so amazing you have to do what it says......Great Cover man one of the best..... by the way what guitar is that?

  • @danielphilpot ..thanks man, the guitar is an early 90s Yamaha RGZ that I have thrashed pretty good :)

  • Hey man its been a while since i watched your vids since i forgot my password. But now im back and as always great cover man!

  • haha!! Good shit, man! Nice!! This is a great tune to crank up! /,,/

  • Jesus that solo was spot on, and that is one hell of a difficult solo. great job

  • thanks dude keep on rocken.

  • cool song i see the jsx cabs do you play the jsx heads ? i have one and i can get any tone from aerosmith to zz top van halen ect i use a boss dd3 a phase 90 it sounds better than any marshall that ive used in the past !!!! i used to hate peavey in the 80es but love that jsx now .

  • @Lewiswayne0930 ... yes I use a Peavey JSX head. I agree - Peavey in the 80s seemed to be mainly known for solid state practice amps. They were definitely work horses though - you could bang the hell out of them LOL. But the distortion was so brittle. I had a little Peavey bandit for many years. I remember things changing toward the very end of the 80s with the Rockmaster tube preamp (I loved it and used it in a thrash band), but then when the 5150 came out it was like "whoa, Peavey steps up!"

  • flawless as per usual.

    the solo sounded amazing.

  • awesome !! this is my fav song.

  • rock on (rocks head in approval)

  • Love the intro improv.Mind if I use that in the clubs?Any way you can tab it?(LOL)

  • @nhsentinel ... LOL thanks man! Go ahead and use it :) As for tabbing the intro, this was over a year ago and the intro was pretty much improvised... anyway, rock on!

  • can u please send me the tabs =( i've trying to find them for a while and I can't find em by the way ur awesome keep up the good work)

  • @Getdrunkonsyrup ... I get my tabs from ultimate-guitar . com website :)

  • Oh thats funny, you're playing an Autograph song but you're wearin' a Van Halen shirt xD

  • @pippimannmetzger ... well, there is a connection - Autograph toured with Van Halen for part of VH's 1984 tour :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak

Oh I didn't know it :D but great work!!

  • Nice work fella!

  • @MrAmadaeus Thanks!

  • I have a good request, could you do All I'm Gonna Take by Autograph, I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE COVER OF THAT ON YOUTUBE, btw you're cover is the BEST.

  • @codyjt5150 ..hey thanks! :) As for doing covers, I have to find a good backing track... if you know of any, please let me know.

  • Geez it seems every few months or so I find myself watching one of your videos and thinking wow that's totally sick, better style than anyone else on the tube. And I always have to go back and watch the "how to pose like an 80s rockstar" video every time after I watch another video. Props dude you rock!

  • @lonewolfsx29 ... hahaha I'm glad you keep coming back to watch me make a fool of myself :) Rock on!

  • Great work!! Flashback to Miami Vice! For the record, although it was only 2 or 3 years between, say, pop culture in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and MV, it seems like an entire generation, with respect to clothes, hair, music, style, etc., doesn't it? One of the earlier MV episodes had The Tubes's "She's A Beauty" playing to an under-aged girl working-out at the beginning of a porno and another had Crockett and Tubbs heading north to the Glades in the Daytona to Tommy Shaw's "Girls with Guns."

  • @deniseaustinlover

Maybe those two songs aren't representative of the best of those times - musically speaking - but they were fun (and music *is* subjective), and man - what memories! Again, great work here with Autograph; it's fantastic to hear this "lost" hit once again! PS - How about Honeymoon Suite's "New Girl Now?"

  • @deniseaustinlover wow man you know your 80s LOL... I lived in the area where they filmed Fast Times - absolutely love that movie. I was only 11 when it came out, but I have great memories of hanging out at the mall where the movie theater and the arcade were :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak

LOL - I was born around the same time you were - 1972 - so I grew up a mixed product of the late 70s/entire 80s/very early 90s. I was raised in NY (an hour north of the city) but came out here to San Diego in 1993 and I've been here ever since. FTARH was a great film - very realistic, socially/culturally speaking, for the times, IMHO. Rock on dude - I look forward to your clips - great stuff!

  • Nice stuff..

Here is where a manager comes in.. You play, and I manage the pay...

  • @igfyigfy

    LOL

  • @igfyigfy ... hey book me some gigs man! :)

  • Very tasty my friend. Well done.

  • Amazing job!

  • Did you learn this by ear? If so please make some some solo tabs.

  • nice cover man :)

  • Classic!

  • thats a volvo;p

  • Awesome

  • What kind of guitar is that it sounds so beautiful.. and sounds the same as the song. Please reply

  • @ZVizorZ thank you - it is a Yamaha RGZ, with a DiMarzio Tone Zone pickup in the bridge. My gear and recording technique is listed on my main channel page :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak What colour is it?

  • @ZVizorZ originally it was just black.... last year I added the yellow electrical tape because I was too lazy to paing LOL

  • @PDXguitarfreak It looks so Realistic

  • i gotz a volvo too; great fun isn't it?

  • @nunobettencourtrockz LOL good eye man... I guess the dash is easily recognizable :)

  • the solo was to die for.

  • @4leafmetal thanks man!

  • dude...

    I love your improvising.

and I just love this song!!!!!

    that guy is amazing.

  • Is that real hair, cause it AWESOME

  • @TheJaKFilms LOL it is sexy.. I know

  • hahaha i love how he has van halen stuff on

  • @poop333x2 LOL I probably wear my VH shirt too much :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak is that good or bad, cause for me VAN HALEN IS AWESOME AS HELL!!!

  • @poop333x2 it's good for me! :) =VH= rules!

  • awesome steve lynch is kick ass!!!

  • yeah!!!!!!!!!! autograph is amazing steve lynch is one hell of a guitarist

  • @PeterCriss925 thanks man! :)

  • Omg you just didnt cover

    this song

    did ya?

    You sir are a Master!!!

  • @LedZeph LOL thanks man! :)

  • You never cease to amaze me. I just remembered this song a week ago. How do they get that sound? Is it a lot of chorus?

  • Thanks man! I'm not using a lot of chorus here. Most of the guitars are doubled which sometimes creates somewhat of a chorus effect.

  • Thanks man, I was kinda bummed out tonight but seeing your video made me rock!

  • Right on man! Turn it up!

  • Another kickin' song by a 1 hit wonder band. The lead guitar is very cool.

  • Thanks man!! :)

  • Great as always...how about some classic XYZ ?

  • Dude I might do that if I can find a decent backing track. Check out my bud Satchbooggy, he did a mean XYZ cover

  • hey is it in Eb ir Standard tuning? NICE PLAYING btw

  • Thanks! It is tuned down 1/2 step (Eb)

  • Awesome job. I love autograph. Pretty underrated. Though the band did die out kinda fast. Though sweet playing 5 stars.

  • Thanks man! I remember thinking they would be huge, but at least we have this classic song to their credit

  • Guiatar and GTA Magic bro loving it we play the same stuff dude !!!

  • Right on man! :)

  • The intro impro was amazing!

really good tone, what's your gear?

  • Thanks man! The guitar is an early 90s Yamaha RGZ (only change is a DiMarzio Tone Zone bridge pickup, well and the yellow tape). I ran in through a Peavey JSX head and then when direct from the JS speaker cabinet into my PC. The cab has a cool speaker simulator direct output feature. I may have used a tiny bit of chorus on this one, and some delay during the leads.

  • oh and a little reverb throughout

  • Just like Butter....

  • Thanks man! :)

  • nice man!!! 80's rock...rocks lol nice playin dude... btw LOVE the =VH= shirt and frankie u got there... good shit man \m/

  • Rock on man!

  • Dave that was awesome man! Perfectly played main solo ans the improv solo was cool too! I have not heard this song I would say in about 20 years? lol! I forgot all about Autograph sadly enough? This was a great song back then for sure and still a good song today! 5/5

  • Thank you Dave! The original song deserves to be in the "best of 80s" category :)

  • Yes it does! This i also reminds me of a couple other bands that had some good stuff. Giuffria with Call to the Heart with a kinda one hit back then that didn't last. Never did know what happened to them. And I don't know why but Winger? lol! Reb Beach is a killer guitarist to me! Thanks for bringing back some great stuff Dave you definitely rock bro!

  • That was awesome! Great Job on the solo man!

  • Hey thank you man! :)

  • Can i have your Autograph? This totally rocked Dave! You NAILED the solo! Fantastic playing! turn it up! 6 starz!

  • Great job PDX! Can't beat the guitar sound of the 80's!! Some good sounds today but nothing comes close to those 80's riffs!

  • You know it!!!

  • Wonderful sound cheers Dave , you get better each time .

    sNEaKY ☺

  • Thanks Wayne!!! :)

  • WOW Dave! That was fantastic man! I was 14 when this came out ... you really did a great job with the production (the car radio, the singing) - you are amazing!

  • Thanks bro - glad you liked it! And good to hear we are of approximately the same generation :)

  • Great playing man! Classic tune! The radio dos'nt play the oldies much anymore, its unfortunate some of the best music comes from that era.

The car scene gave me an idea:) how about putting a green screen material in the windshield, and driving while your vid plays, know thats rocking in motion. Okay its way out there, but it was a nice thought, my green screen is operational know, and i learned a few tips on getting a clean key,

  • Hey John, that is a great idea LOL... sounds labor intenstive though... :) Rock on bro!

  • Bad ass,

  • Thanks!!!

  • Damn Dave, GREAT job bro! Solo is SPOT ON!

  • Thanks Brett! The descending string skipping before the tapping drove me crazy LOL

  • GIMME SUM MO'!!!! 5 stars. Awesome job, dude!

  • Thanks man! :)

  • awesome 5*

  • Thanks dood!!! :)

  • B. here again for another listen. This is just too good for just one listen. Awesome job.

    "Turn it ah,up"

  • Thanks again Brian - let's rock!

  • Dude we are the same age; as I remember being 13 and "too loud" playing that music back on my TAPE DECK LOL! Great job BTW, not as easy as you make it look. Best line in that song...

    "Things go better with rock!"

    Peace,

    mDt

  • Hey thanks mDt! This song really hit me when I heard it - it's truly a great rock anthem. And the production values were top notch too. I remember hearing it and thinking "oh wow, these guys are going to be huge..." Too bad they didn't achieve the real success they deserved.

  • Had a "get together" last night, so spent all day preparing while the house surround sound played Dish Network channel 6023 - '80s Hair Bands! LOL, man there were some real, real good musicians "back then". After a day of drinking, and listening to Hairnation :), the wife and I were juiced by time guests arrived. LOL!

    Long Live '80's ROCK!

  • And yeah, that line is the best in the song... for people that don't know the old Coke commercials, it might get lost though LOL

  • Waaaay too good, Dave :) ....that really was a treat!!! I put this in my 'Just Crazy Good Stuff' playlist...keep rockin'!

    Hugs,

    Joy

  • That is very sweet Joy - I know I am in good company there! :) Super weekend to you!!!

  • Way to rock Dave! I got to see Autograph, Wasp, MotorHead, George Lynch, Micheal Schenkner, Steve Vai and more greats play at a rock club in Texas in the mid 80's...anyway, this vid reminds me of those great times!

  • Thanks bro! Long live the 80s! There will never be a decade of music like that again! :)

  • One time I met Steve Lynch at my family friends house on Christmas eve 2 years ago, and one of Steve Lynches former guitar teacher, good man.

  • It misses it very much!!

    very good!!

  • Thank you Hide-san! :)

  • Man your tone and playing is amazing, you never disappoint! Keep rockin bro

  • Thanks bro! :)

  • MEMMORIES !!!

  • ah yes!

  • Killer cover PDX-always had a soft spot for this tune too! Saw Autograph play a local club here in SC in the late 80s, met the guys-really nice bunch and they played an awesome set. Keep on rockin'!

  • Right on man... rock on!

  • Wow...I haven't heard this tune in ages. You nailed it too! Its funny how awesome the guitar solo sounds today. I remember when this song came out the guitar solo was good, but fairly typical. Just goes to show you the gap between musicianship back then and today! lol. Awesome job man, 5 stars!!

  • @5150RDH

    Well said man - I can't agree more! :)

  • Quality stuff! Great solo.

  • Thanks man!!! :)

  • Hellyeah!!!! Great cover..

Could you maybe take a look at Autograp's All Im Gonna Take??

    Greetz!

  • I don't think I know that one... But I will check it out! :)

  • Thanks man, i'm hoping that you can rock that song!

  • Amazing my friend!!!! :D

    100000*

    Rock on!

  • Thanks man!!! :)

  • I was unaware that they had digital displays on the car stereos in the 80's.

Great cover, and you make the guitar part look sooo easy.

  • LOL, I didn't start driving until the late 80s and my first car (78 Chevy Nova) only had radio.

  • That was a tasty lead- you nailed it!

  • Hi Val! Glad you liked it! :)
