70 percent of Blacks are in prison, because they commit 90 percent of all violent crime. Read the stats from your own Justice Department. Just like most Democrats, always pandering to minorities for votes. Why doesn't he take his wife for a long walk at night in Washington, D.C. and get educated the hard way!
@kenzo5716 Yes, you did, because you think Gravel is saying what he said under the assumption they're put in prison just because they're black, and meanwhile your subtle racist point of view can't grasp his point.
@AbyssCrown No, you lie. Gravel is the one who stated that 70% of prison population were African American. He said it, not me. I was commenting on what he said, because he tries to put people under the impression that he was somehow appalled at the stats and inferring that is was unfair. He was pandering to Blacks on this issue and that was the tone he took. I was merely pointing out the reason they were in prison. When reviewing the DOJ "Cimes by Race" stats, it's obvious why.
@kenzo5716 Yes, and he was not saying or even implying black people are being put in prison simply for being black. He said it very clearly, that things like the War on Drugs are not working and making things worse, and the black community, in America, are taking the brunt of the negative effects.
@AbyssCrown No, he was acted "shocked" at the number of Blacks in prison. The Senator is not stupid. He knows the DOJ stats on Black crime and the nature of them. He's a good actor, and many Blacks get sucked in to voting for these double-minded politicians. I'm not fooled. The so-called "war on drugs" is a joke, but Blacks choose to enter the game, use violence and not all violent crimes committed by Blacks are drug related. For instance, Blacks rape over 30,000 White women yearly.
@kenzo5716 Obviously, not all crimes committed by blacks are drug related, but that does not mean that the negative effects of the War on Drugs must effect only drug related issues. If you cut someone's feet off with the intention so they can't walk up stairs, the effect is going to be more than their inability to walk up stairs.
@AbyssCrown Not a good analogy at all. Listen, you are obviously a good person. I don't want to argue with you. You can frame the problem any way you wish. The resulting stats will not change. The media won't report the DOJ info. They like things the way they are. Paul Sheehan, a respected journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald. In 1995 he wrote "Race War, Black Against White". Google it. That was 17 years ago and it's worse now. Read it and stop making excuses for these criminals.
@kenzo5716 I'm not making excuses for people who commit crimes, but it is the right thing to do to study as to why they did them, and try to prevent them from doing them again and other people from doing them.
@AbyssCrown Put them under your subjective microscope. You will find a revealing history. Every country having a large population of Blacks suffers the same fate. Making excuses for them escalates the problem Murders, rapes, robberies and prison. They refused to pull themselves up, instead, choosing to wallow in their own sewer. They have every chance to change and it doesn't work. 50% drop out rate in schools...Their choosing. Robbing, murder, drugs, etc.
@kenzo5716 (2) I do know that the news media and politicians like to favor a particular race in order to get ratings or win votes. Personally, I think attaching a race to an issue only makes it more political, diverts from the topic at hand, and makes people think with their emotions (on both sides) and not their brains. I was more so just defending the point Gravel was trying to make, racial talking points aside.
@AbyssCrown Politicians like Gravel are part of the problem, not the solution. Both major parties are to blame. I am not a Republican or Democrat. I despise them both for what they have done to this country and the methods they have used to do it. i come from dirt poor poverty. The choice was mine which road to take. I dug my way out and it wasn't easy. You have no idea of my past. Many Blacks have done the same. Blacks choose their own fate. No one would make excuses for me.
@kenzo5716 (2) But I do agree he was trying to appeal to black voters, which is quite distasteful, however, at the very least his point was correct and valid. Not that gives him a pass.
Paul/Gravel 2012! I would give my left nut to watch Biden attempt to debate the honorable Mike Gravel! Don't even get me started on what it is going to be like to watch Dr. Paul debate Obama.
Do you hear something ringing... oh... that's the school bell!
@laetrille I am a Libertarian with some liberal leanings and some conservative leanings, and am a big Ron Paul supporter. This man would probably be just as good for this country as Ron Paul would be. If you are a liberal who likes guys like this, Nader, Kucinich etc. then vote RON PAUL 2012!
He is lucky that he was a presidential candidate in a land of hypocrites. Indeed, if the voters were good people, not hypocrites, and elected him president, he would have been found "suicided" with two bullets behind the ear.
@Blood4glory He didn't say drugs were not bad. He said you can't imprison drug addicts to solve the problem. It's a mental health and medical problem. Not a criminal problem. The whole war on drugs is a ruse to put lower class people in prison to the advantage of those in the top tier.
The war on drugs is a hoax, The war on Terrorism is a hoax, The Federal Reserve is a hoax. Global Warming caused by man is a hoax, Peak oil is a hoax. A two party political system is a hoax. 9/11 was a hoax. They have all been engineered to rob you of your freedoms and your wealth.
@Blood4glory Alcohol is bad too (or can be bad). However, Prohibition spawned an era of unforseen crime in America only eclipsed by that of today's which is by and large the result of the WOD. Also, it isn't being handled properly in the first place. America is handling the WOD like one tries to kill weeds by cutting them above ground. To really hurt the drug industry, you would go after the drug lords not the easily replaceable street hustlers.
Another class warfare/socialist candidate. Self reliance, self sacrifice and personal freedom without government over reach to rob us of our basic constitutional liberties. Give me a candidate that represents all of America. We are all in this together. Root out corrupt politicians and we will be ok.
Someone who thinks just people me! This guy is awesome! I would have voted for him if I was stuck in Iraq fighting a losing battle. This guy would be next to the best thing to President Eisenhower!
Candidates like mike gravel never win. Americans don't go for the truth. Ron Paul also was like that although he sucked on social issues and his disbelief in evolution was troubling but still easily an honest politician with some good ideas.
ANY Republicans? Do you personally know any? I am sorry you want to continue LEFT and to your ending wars...you are wrong my friend. We are still in South Korea and we will always have troops in Iraq...he simply calls them Non Combat Troops to fool the already blinded
It pains me that I knew nothing about this guy. I wish I did so I could have voted for him instead, because every single thing he has to say makes sense. It's incredible and we NEED him in this country now, not some wimpy president who is afraid of what Fox news says about him *cough*Obama*cough*
i want a gravel/kusinich ticket AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!!! DEMOCRACY!!!!! we brought both these great men into the primary, 1 MORE STEP TO THE PESIDENCY! and this country would be fixed... we are so close... america has finally gone left wing enough to get some real solutions in the primarys... maybe i wont move to europe afterall... pot and gay marrage are almost legal in california, i see america being just like europe in 10-20 years, it makes me so happy to see humanity progress
@mirza456 obama is bad, but hes better than ANY republican... i always give my vote to underfunded democrats, thats where you find the solutions... obama still gets bribed, but hes pulling out of the war, supporting net neutrality (internet freedom), and stem cell research... we need him right now, it could be better like a gravel/kusinich ticket, but im happy with what we got, we need your vote too :) keep moving left in slow steps to change the country
Fox News and others didn't dare to give him more air time.
As a European and a traveller, I try to follow news. And from my perspective, Mike Gravel he's been the most honest and truth teller in politics in many years.
@Flamesync he pandered too much to african americans and lost the rascist democrat vote... african americans are about 15% population and 8% of the vote for democrats... rascist democrats are about 10% but have about 9% vote... then the regular democrats/left wing independants 25%, split their vote evenly... its a sad truth, but he lost because he cared more about black people than obama did
Could someone please explain to me how a Value Added Tax could be progressive? As far as I understand them, they're regressive because they're not proportional to income? A poor person and a rich person buying the same item of clothing would be paying the same amount, right?
@ykoshy If it's the same percentage on an item, then yes they pay the same amount however, it's progressive in the sense that the rich buy more things therefore they pay more in taxes.
the politics game remindes me or the music industry, they shit on people who are really saying something real, and they boost up the people who say bullshit, but look good doing it
He's such a good man. He has a really intense outlook that I think is accurate. I feel like he should have ran for the presidency younger. People might have appealed to him more
@DrMu5tCh3at2W1n Plus the media wants the same thing. The powers that be will never allow a man like a Mike Gravel or a Ron Paul to become President. The last president who stood up to the banksters met a bad end in Dallas. Now we have the Obama puppet who replaced the Bush puppet and nothing really changes.
I supported Mike in his campaign because he was the only candidate who spoke the entire truth and spoke like a real President. If he had not been shut out of the debates and treated so unfairly by the media their could have been hope for real change in America.Obama says YES WE CAN and promised CHANGE THE PEOPLE COULD BELIEVE IN. Mike said nothing would change for the better under OBAMA.He was half right Things have gotten worse than when Bush was in power.
This guy has experience and wisdom on his side. I agree with him saying that America needs to take a non-preemptive stance. What is the point of aggression and sanctions? They don't work and never have. Diplomacy and trade are the only option period. Other than that leave these people alone. But of course they want to label Gravel the angry old man, but he was the only one who spoke the truth the whole time. But he was done once he said the truth. The corporatist and elitst don't like that.
I sure wish Mike Gravel would run again in 2012, and I hope he can get enough financial contributions from the public to allow him to all debates in 2012. He's the only candidate that told the truth, and even seemed to honestly care. We missed out by not even giving him a fighting chance in 08.
It means that you should be the best human being as uou can be!
Have you heart open!
Be true tourself, and do not be judjemenrtal!
Andb have commmon sense despite the fact that "common sense" is not always commons sens when common sense want to inhibit your freedoms no matter where you are..
It's notg abbout "left orb ight" It's about common sense! Even Irish have more sense than US at many times! On my island they treat me like Patrick Kavanagh!
In US I would force you all to look yourself in the mirror and start think in different forms.
Just because HRT, Fr. Gonzo is dead does not mean that GONZO is dead...
The Wasted Talent award in the category of Politicians goes to.................... Mike Gravel!!
Congrats Mr. Gravel, you ran a campaign based on truth, integrity and common sense, but failed to be taken seriously. Just to be clear, this does not reflect poorly on you Mike, it reflects poorly on the majority of Americans who either laughed you off or didn't comprehend the benefits of honesty and integrity in politics.
I doon't think most Americans are rerady for the Truth slapped in their face. If they were, Mike Gravel would be in the WH dealing with Bush/Cheney crimes, gotten you out of Iraq AND Afghanistan, and pot would be sold over the counter in coffeeshops...
I loved Mike I wish he would have been taken more serious but it was a hot mess when he didn't have the money to get to one of the debates and had to watch it on a screen in a hotel room and then stop it after Hillary or Barack spoke to get his word in that is just tacky LOL PLAIN 2012 or HILLARY 2016!
Mike was the best Presidential candidate ever.Obama and Clinton were in awe of his debating skill and statesman status. The public mindset controled by a corrupt media and corporate manipulation saw Mike censored and kept out of debate. He will always be the only real candidate to me because he had the guts to tell the truth and stand up to the powers that be.A Gravel Presidency would have helped America but to many were blinded by the system to realise it.
@johndownunder I say instead of having 1 single monopolized corrupt neglectful president, we forcibly put some accountable presidents like Gravel and Ron Paul in the house.
@swu880 gravel and ron paul would be so against eachother that they would not be able to pass ideology, but they would pass all the bipartisan solutions to actually fix this country... thats a pretty good idea for getting rid of corruption... :O... you gave me an idea for a better version of government... have 1 congress, scrap the senate, and have 1 conservative president and 1 liberal president, then the one with most votes gets to be president and the other is vice president... no corruption
People cry out for change, but people don't know what they want anymore. Kucinich, Gravel and Paul represent REAL and BIG changes.
Its a mixed baggage when people want change. but they feel that Kucinich and Paul and Gravel want WAY TOO MUCH change. How come voters don't want THAT MUCH change?
@NYFanatic2004 Well I don't want Kucinich I don't think Paul wants either Gravel or Dennis. I highly doubt any of them want each other in power. Really I respect them for honesty and that's fair. I'd certainly have Gravel over McCain and others, but besides that. Really I can say I respect Gravel and Kucinich, but cannot vote for them. Now that's fair.
My god, i never payed attention during the primaries and i've been a pretty big Obama fan being from Illinois and seein him take the stage over the other racist piece of shit for senate in 04, but goddam Mike Gravel SHOULD be the democratic candidate. I do think its the media's fault. This man just has the balls to tell all the other candidates off and speak the truth. I agree with whoever said it below, America lost when he lost the presidential candidate bid.
Mike Gravel and Ron Paul were the most realistic candidates running within the two parties. Why were they shut out so much by the media and corporations? Oh, thats right, the media and corporations aren't realistic. Vote for someone who represents you in 08! Don't become a victim to the two party duopoly!
America lost when this man wasn't elected as a presidential contender on the democratic side, really never given a true opportunity to contend by the people who control our society.
Gravel speaks the truth! And most Americans don't seem to be able to handle the truth! They want eye candy in the form of Barack and Hilary. They don't really care about the issues. Obama and Hilary are phony Dems, mark my words. If we nominate either one of them, McCain will most certainly win. And then we'll be at war with Iran and N. Korea and maybe even Syria. Remember "there will be other wars"?
I think it's cus he was alluding to heroin, which helps spread AIDS. If we made this a public health issue then people could all go to clinics to help get off the drugs, and also cleaner equipment would probably be emphasized (no reusing needles) and stuff like that.
of course it would only happen on pbs or CSPAN. (which are generaly better for getting REAL news than fox, CNN, and NBC...and yet...not many people watch them)
also, no one should vote democrat nor republican...vote for who has the best platform, saw a comment hear saying "if i was a democrat" you are an AMERICAN. why isnt that enough?
i was looking at ron paul first, i agreed with a lot but not all of his stances...then i seen gravels videos...now im totaly for him.
if I was a democrat he would definitely have my vote, how in the world can any one vote for Hillary after hearing this man speak, this guy is the Ron Paul of the democrats but most dems are 2 stupid and blind to see this Guy has the answers they are looking for.
oh my gracious god, i really respect this guy so much. I dont hear much of him but thanks for posting this video on. He is not going to be a president, thats for sure, but if he becomes one I am sure he'll be the best you'll ever see.
They got other stuff to care about like b.spears, p.hilton etc.. they dont need you.. they need a women president, cuz it ll make their country look cool

Look closely at the tenants of liberalism and compare them to communism. The same bankers that control the currency of the US and the world central banks, are the same men that funded Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and other tyrants.
Lenin was born in Brooklyn for Pete's sake.
The old democratic party was hijacked by these same elitists 100 years ago and turned into a conduit for socialized central power.
Also don't forget that it was Democrat Woodrow Wilson, placed into power by men from Europe that gave us the Federal Reserve. Notice how WWI was started as quickly as possible? Then taxes were needed, women were given the right to vote (pre communism), the Russian Czar was taken down. Then the Fed created the great depression, as Ben Bernanke admit that the "fed created the great depression, we made a mistake and we will never do it again."
Then socialist FDR, who stated, "In politics if something happens, you can bet it was planned that way." Gave us more socialism in the form of welfare and the "New Deal" of horse shit, I call it.
Then Truman, democrat, penalized small businesses via the unemployment tax. Small businesses were supposed to help the average man, socially, weather the fed created boom and bust cycles.
You call FDR a Socialist and then bash his policies. Dude, FDR, like yourself was a Capitalist, he was a progressive, but he was a Capitalist. Your just spurting out uneducated propaganda. And dude, if it wasnt for Roosevelt, our country would have fallen. his policies saved this nation.
Listen, FDR was a shrill. Read the book his son wrote about his father, FDR didn't have an original thought.
Not only that he made it illegal for Americans to have their own gold! A 10 year prison sentence for keeping your own gold! This from the great depression the fed actually created. Please read and learn the truth!
Then Democrat Johnson further mucked up the system by giving special advantage to minorities and women. The constitution states that no group should have special advantage over another group. Bill Clinton more socialism. When will it end?
Don't forget that FDR stole our gold. He made it illegal for Americans to have gold. After the feds stole all our gold, they then jacked the price up from $20 an ounce to $40 and sold it all to Europe!
Central banks are our problems, not any particular party. Congress should be the only one allowed to print our currency.
lol, Affirmative action is special advantage. Not voting, and I believe only the most successful should vote, the top 10% and it should only be men, if you want to live in a free country, with limited central governments, loads of personal freedoms, the right to bear arms, the right to own your own property and not be a tenant.
I think the communist NAACP has you glued to their chair, just where they want you.
Lenin was born in Brooklyn? Are you insane? He was born in Simbirsk which is now called Ulianovsk.
There you go again saying that the U.S. funded the USSR. Thats bullshit dude. The U.S. has done everything it can to thwart the USSR since it's start.
Sweet jesus, please read some history and stop watching Fox News.
Your a elightest...That is what you are, America is the greatest why should I look around the world to how they are doing things. I disagree about drugs making the country weak. We are already weak, and the drug dealers and traffickers have all the power. If you take away their rule and give it to the government to mange it they don't have the strength of the streets anymore
It sounds like Verlch is trying to give a peep party for republicans. STOP putting people in groups, people at the top are evil and become evil as they get influenced by power. They don't care about anyone but what they are getting.
We really need to wake up and look more in the inside on the candidate. I always hear that thing about "Its not what the book looks like on the outside its what it is all about on inside." How many white politicians make it clear what we have to do about different communities? With Obama all I have heard is white politician talk. You really want some one to help; VOTE the strong will white guy that is in fact blacks, Mexicans, Arib, etc.... on the inside.
I would love to see the people that call Him a moron to talk to him and debate him. I guarantee that he would wipe them out with in the first minutes. You know what I find funny; I see all these black community spokesmen and women agreeing and knobbing their heads. But, time has gone by and I haven't seen any major black support, I think it is just cause Obama is black he gets the vote.
Drugs will make America weak. Help decay it from the inside. Make the masses more easy to control and manage. To lack the willpower to organize and struggle into a meaningful force what could take back control of their nation. The elite want the masses to take drugs. This is why drugs are being flooded into your neighborhoods and the media portrays taking drugs as 'cool'.
Than move! Same thing is happening in south africa! 50 people are murderered a day, and they are taking the land of white people!
By the way, only 2% of white America owned slaves, and did you know that a high percentage of free blacks owned slaves, as did the chinese, the indians, and the mexicans.
Let us get off the pity party please! Don't like it, as we have the wealthiest blacks and Hispanics in the world, leave!
Did you know how many white slaves were abused by the Roman system by Julius Caesar? He had 1 million white slaves at one time!
Did you know the English term for slave comes from Slav. Meaning eastern european slavery!
We know all about human oppression. We white people!
600,000 men died in the civil war, that is sorry enough. Again, don't like it, move back to africa! You can drink each others blood, and go into trances all day!

bohemianwriter1 1 year ago
@Flamesync he pandered too much to african americans and lost the rascist democrat vote... african americans are about 15% population and 8% of the vote for democrats... rascist democrats are about 10% but have about 9% vote... then the regular democrats/left wing independants 25%, split their vote evenly... its a sad truth, but he lost because he cared more about black people than obama did

Could someone please explain to me how a Value Added Tax could be progressive? As far as I understand them, they're regressive because they're not proportional to income? A poor person and a rich person buying the same item of clothing would be paying the same amount, right?
ykoshy 1 year ago
@ykoshy If it's the same percentage on an item, then yes they pay the same amount however, it's progressive in the sense that the rich buy more things therefore they pay more in taxes.

@NYFanatic2004 Well I don't want Kucinich I don't think Paul wants either Gravel or Dennis. I highly doubt any of them want each other in power. Really I respect them for honesty and that's fair. I think it's cus he was alluding to heroin, which helps spread AIDS. If we made this a public health issue then people could all go to clinics to help get off the drugs, and also cleaner equipment would probably be emphasized (no reusing needles) and stuff like that.

Verlch 4 years ago
Also don't forget that it was Democrat Woodrow Wilson, placed into power by men from Europe that gave us the Federal Reserve. Notice how WWI was started as quickly as possible? Then taxes were needed, women were given the right to vote (pre communism), the Russian Czar was taken down. Then the Fed created the great depression, as Ben Bernanke admit that the "fed created the great depression, we made a mistake and we will never do it again."
Verlch 4 years ago
Then socialist FDR, who stated, "In politics if something happens, you can bet it was planned that way." Gave us more socialism in the form of welfare and the "New Deal" of horse shit, I call it.
Then Truman, democrat, penalized small businesses via the unemployment tax. Small businesses were supposed to help the average man, socially, weather the fed created boom and bust cycles.
Verlch 4 years ago
You call FDR a Socialist and then bash his policies. Dude, FDR, like yourself was a Capitalist, he was a progressive, but he was a Capitalist. Your just spurting out uneducated propaganda. And dude, if it wasnt for Roosevelt, our country would have fallen. his policies saved this nation.
chromelemon 4 years ago
Listen, FDR was a shrill. Read the book his son wrote about his father, FDR didn't have an original thought.
Not only that he made it illegal for Americans to have their own gold! A 10 year prison sentence for keeping your own gold! This from the great depression the fed actually created. Please read and learn the truth!
Verlch 4 years ago
Then Democrat Johnson further mucked up the system by giving special advantage to minorities and women. The constitution states that no group should have special advantage over another group. Bill Clinton more socialism. When will it end?
Verlch 4 years ago
Don't forget that FDR stole our gold. He made it illegal for Americans to have gold. After the feds stole all our gold, they then jacked the price up from $20 an ounce to $40 and sold it all to Europe!
Central banks are our problems, not any particular party. Congress should be the only one allowed to print our currency.
Verlch 4 years ago
How is giving blacks the right to vote giving them special advantages? There you go once again with your white victimization.
chromelemon 4 years ago
lol, Affirmative action is special advantage.
Verlch 4 years ago
Lenin was born in Brooklyn? Are you insane? He was born in Simbirsk which is now called Ulianovsk.
There you go again saying that the U.S. funded the USSR. Thats bullshit dude. The U.S. has done everything it can to thwart the USSR since it's start.
Sweet jesus, please read some history and stop watching Fox News.
chromelemon 4 years ago
We did fund it. Our central bankers started funding communism in mass after democrat WW gave us the central bank the federal reserve.
US banks funding Nazism through Neutral powers, some even funded Hitler directly.
You do know that massive profits can be generated by funding both sides of any conflict.

Drugs will make America weak. Help decay it from the inside. Make the masses more easy to control and manage. To lack the willpower to organize and struggle into a meaningful force what could take back control of their nation. The elite want the masses to take drugs.
