Iv heard the Shimano XT M785 disk brakes are run on minral oil instead of conventional hydraulic brake fluid such as D.O.T fluid. but my local bike shop says minral oil is rubbish and deteriates the performance of the brakes. I hope this isnt true because these brakes look fantastic
@bikeandcarp14 ...well if there's proper pressure in the brake cables, it will do the work it's supposed to.
The reason why some companies suggest the use of mineral oil is for parts and cables that are susceptible to deteriorate faster with D.O.T. fluids.
Maybe (i pull this one out of my behind) temperature can affect the viscosity or density of mineral oils in question...or the opposite. It could mess with brake pressure. Soon I will test this.
Hope Tech's (or Chris King's) production model is much more agreeable. No consumerist hodgepodge, no gimmicks, no yearly updates to coax you into steadily emptying your pockets - just good quality products whose value diminishes at a tenfold lower rate than Shimano's, Avid's, Magura's, Hayes' and even Formula's… And environmentally much sounder, too.
The evil cretin Edward Bernay ought to have been dealt with before he poisoned the world with his idiotic system! And that every idiot, myself included, is effectively baited into that model!..
Thank you GOD, now when 90% of this disgusting chain noise is gone, my life makes sense again.

@WhiteGravey Great analogy! There is a similar likeness in the way your writing skills help you separate yourself from the educated folks.

When the switch is off it behaves like a normal Shimano deraileur when it's on it behaves like a SRAM deraileur.
