I have a gateway windows vista Im trying to make an external screen work but I try to make it work I dont know if I need a driver or what can i do it was working but suddenly stop

The top half of my screen works the bottom half is black with colorful lines. I've replaced the screen once and it work for about 6 months, then i would get this problem from time to time, now it's stuck like this. Not sure if it's a driver, the inverter or what. Please help!

Is there any way to restore my laptop computer after a driver has corrupted? I received a notification stating something about a driver, which tells me to delete using McAfee. Once I clicked "Yes", which I now know was dumb of me to do so, my laptop restarted. Now, it starts up, but the manufactering logo doesn't appear. Then the screen goes completely black. Please help.

i had something familiar to yours but it was on my desktop, it turned out it was a virus leaching on all my files. if you say it was mcafee then you should go see your local computer store, this may cost a bit or alot
