@The3DComputerMan Monitors 911 calls... when someone dials 911 from any phone in the district, the server alerts certain people via email and/or phone. This way we can respond right away (because most of the time its a false alarm, and we can call the police dept, and cancel them coming out).
This one is Ubuntu - running a script that checks a website out on the internet for last time pages were updated, then emails alerts out to teachers, etc.
