A dog's saliva is 100% good apart from the fact that its full of salt, next time you hurt your self with a cut ( must be open skin with the red stuff pouring out ) get a dog to see it and just try and stop it from licking your wound .. my bet is that the dog has healed you faster than a doctor could have dreamed of
@TheDrunkenkiller im sure she IS right! my dog bit my toe after i accidentally stepped on her. her saliva got into my system & caused a massive infection. so dogs saliva isnt as great as you seem to think it is.
@KeicaMarie I agree, but it's hard to enjoy this specific video because the bird is put into danger by being in contact with dog saliva. I'm a lot more worried about that than about the dog attacking it. The problem is that dog saliva is toxic to birds. Look it up.
And from what I can see, the dog doesnt seem to care that the parrot is there at all . I dont see where the dog looks pissed off at all. You are reading too much into this.
As adorable as the affection they have for eachother is...it's quite true that the saliva can make your parrot ill.
It doesn't even have to be a dog or cats, even human saliva can make a parrot ill. My friends quaker got ill just from saliva from kissing people and getting a tad off their lips.
Regardless of that, pavle1210, dogs and cats are predators and have evolved to have bacteria in their siliva that weaks and kills their prey. This bird can get a serious, and possibly fatal infection from this behavior. Just because a bird being exposed to a human's siliva could be potentially worse doesn't mean that it should be allowed this leve of exposure to a dog's siliva. A conversation with any qualified avian vet will support this. This is dangerous behavior for the bird.
Thanks for this video, I have added it to my favorites. In return - welcome to visit my channel where only the most decent, lovable and spiritual of YouTube videos are being collected.
Why would someone give this a thumbs down? It's sensible advice. I like seeing different species of animals getting along tho. I believe its only dangerous if the saliva gets into a wound though? could be wrong.
@sunnytj altho that dog just sucked his own____.your right it can be dangerous however dogs mouth is the cleanest compared to all species including human so if you were to let the bird go at it,dog is the safest bet.
Neither cute, nor funny, nor interesting. Rather...unsafe, unhealthy, unhygienic. No actual bird board or bird website would allow such a film to be posted.
The color difference between male and female is so cute. I once observed a pair of eclectus babies. They barely had any feathers, but I could see just a few tiny red feathers on the female, and tiny green ones on the male. The male was so hyper-active "where's the roller coaster ride, I want to jump of this hand". The female was like "Tell me when everyone is gone." The girl was snuggled in the corner of the box.
But the best part I like about baby parrots is their big cute eyes. So innocent!
That looks very dangerous! As soon as that parrot goes over the dog's tolerance level, things might become really ugly. I would suggest you do not allow the parrot kiss the dog, or what ever he is doing.
That's the best thing about beagles... they are so loving. My two beagles play with all of my animals. I've had the one for about 6 years and the other two years... neither one has ever growled or tried to bite ever. Mine love to play with our hamsters!
plz be careful about that... despite the obvious problems that could arise, the bacteria in a dogs mouth is farmful to birds and at one point the electus had his beak right in the dog's mouth
Birds have no outward sexual organs. Some birds are dimorphous & can their sex can be told by color - as with Eclectus' - but most need DNA testing done.
male bird's genitals are all internal so you should probably research something before you pass it off as fact. The only way you could visually see if they have a penis is to disect them then it wouldn't really matter would it... for some species you can tell by certain colour characteristics, but usually you have to get a DNA test
No he is quite right. The Eclectus species is the only (as far as I know) sexually dimorphic parrot species... so maybe you should "research something before you pass it off as fact."
Dont talk crap...Ok i know that bacteria from dogs mouth can probably be dangerous for the bird....But they know more then you think. My german shepherd has that feeling im sure he would never hurt anyone. He has so strong bite, sometimes i give him 30cm long bone he breaks it in few minutes. But he would never hurt anyone,he has feeling when he bites. You give him an agg he will carry it without braking it.So im sure he wouldnt bite that parrot no matter what he does......
I think the dog enjoys the bird's attentions and lets him know when the preening is uncomfortable (the same way birds do when they allopreen each other). However, KEEP YOUR PARROT AWAY FROM YOUR MOUTH OR ANYONE ELSES' MOUTH!!! If you knew the very basics about taking care of a bird, you would realize that the bacteria in that dog's mouth can eventually kill that bird. You would also know that parrots do not show signs of illness until they are almost dead-- and then it's usually too late!
i wish my sisters parrot (quacker) was this nice to my beagles but NOO mr. Pickles would eat my dogs alive ... that bird hates dogs or any other animal for the matter. . . but he cleans ppls teeth just like the parrot did to wilson omg made me so happy to know that another bird does it. . . mr.pickles aint weird woot
Just like im sure you know yours and would never do this unless you were certain that they didnt hurt each other. After all you ARE RECORDING THEM, so they are under supervision...Good to know different species can have affection and love for each other!
aww how cute! my dusky loves my chihuahua and vice versa. although he pinched her butt once b/c he was "preening" her and she moved, so he bit her...ahahaha. wasnt hard, if it was hard she would've cried, but didnt. besides he's a dusky not a macaw, they love each other. she just got scared and hopped off the couch, regardless she still hangs around him and enjoys his company, like he does hers. im probly gonna get comments for this but i dont care. i know my pets and have had them since day 1!

Whoever you are, grow up, or re home your pets. While animals kept as pets are supposed to be enjoyed and provide us humans amusement, it should not be done at the expense of risking the live of your pets. Beautiful bird, cute dog. But as BirdwomanUK said, I've always been told dog and cat saliva has bacteria that are very likely to make a parrot extremely sick.
I am sure you believe that these two will not try to harm eachother. The begal may not attack the eclectus today. And the eclectus may not attack the beagles eye today. But as soon as the eclectus oversteps that line it will only take one second for the beagle to sink its teeth into him. You are playing with fire. Please don't put the safety of both these beautiful animals at risk again.
much nips hurt from parrots, this poor dog may stand it for so long, but wont stand it forever, one day your ekkie will be dead from the dog not tolerating it , then the dog will get the blame no doubt!
this video is absolutly discusting, not only could the dog snap back at the ekkie before you could do anyting about it, the ekkie could take the dogs eye out, we all know how much nips hurt from parrots, this poor dog may stand it for so long, but wont stand it forever, one day your ekkie will be dead from the dog not tolerating it , then the dog will get the blame no doubt!
WHY? WHy would you allow your bird that close to the dog? If the dog decided to lash out you would have one dead bird. Also the saliva from cats and dogs is deadly. Such a shame as he is a wonderful bird. Please please please dont do this again and take the risk of losing such a wonderful buddy.

#2 is sugar
