I'm only starting on the crane now and I can say that so far the set is well worth my $200! I've been trying to build a 4x4 for a while but couldn't make it work and this is perfect! Maybe it's the fact that I bought it with my own money and not my parents' that I love it so much
i must say that i kinda regret it that i bought this set.
its functions are just too slow and overall it is too clumsy. the steering ist the worst.. not to mention this pneumatic arm. its just lame and it seems like the designer rushed through its construction. you cant really do anything with it. the winch also is bad. its too slow..
the new parts are pretty cool i guess.. but i have to admit: i dont like this orange parts now that i have them x(
@ILoveMixery ps: when it comes down to the off-road ability this set is NOTHING compared to the 4x4 offroader. i right now have this set disassembled and im only using the wheels of it for extreme cars.
@Dudeofmanyhobbies No, it is not the largest. I suspect the Silver Champion is longer and wider. And the 2001 flagship, 8466, has itself tied to the second 2000 flagship, the Power Puller for largest and heaviest tires (so heavy they could accout for as much as 25% of the mass in 8466). I think this may be the tallest and most complex, but TLC has gone larger. I think they mean part count, something it is most certainly holding the record for.
Hi, how does the crane lock into place on the front and back? I understand the 'PTO attachment' (whats 'PTO?) also how did you get hold of this-its not even out?! Thanks.
I have a question: When the compressor is running for a prolonged period without any valves open or anything, what stops it from building up too much pressure? Is there a white clutch gear, or some sort of safety valve? I sure hope that Lego wouldn't just let it run until it strained the motor or blew off the hoses...
@ultracool3001 It will run until the pump becomes too strenuous on the motor and bog it down, or i believe there is a system in the cylinder that allows excess air to be bled off.
@Conchinhas hmm, thought that would be the case, anyway one could make it a bit stronger through a little modification ;), but besides my own model will be taken apart by me before that time comes for modification XD
@Bobbypoker He bought a second set

when you tilt the model to a side, is the suspension hard in enough so that it springs instantly back into place???

Not that hard. Easily the model won't stand totally straight. :(
