  • @rundy123 yeh lo, ati vinambar se apna vichar abvhivyakt karta hoon: tumhari maa ki yoni mein varaah ling.

  • Gulzarsaab at his Best.

@ Thanks Anoop for posting the video.

  • Gulzar is Not Muslim. his name is sampooran singh.

  • My message to my fellow Indians who have had enough of Urdu - just stop talking and start writing. Stop buying Hindi CDs which list Javed Akhtar or Gulzar as lyricist. Stop buying their private albums. And start writing. Write in Hindi, teach hindi to your children, speak hindi at home, promote hindi at your workplace. Make a systematic effort to wipe out Urdu from India. Dont hire muslims. We have had enough of this propaganda.

  • @chanakya999 Madarchood shudh Hindi mein apne vichar abhivyakt kar.

  • it is a great thing to lisen and enjoy the live ness of gulzarji i know gulzar speaks but lisener picturizes and go to that touching of heart and feel a different life

  • shabd nahi milate in shabdon ko sun kar.......

  • ashok chakradhar se bewakoof kavi nahi hua aajtak...

  • salute to the creater of mirjha ghalib serial. great gulzar

  • I find this incredibly fascinating. His style of reciting poetry -- with reiteration of phrases and the occasional explanations -- seems very human to me. i listened to the whole thing with a smile on my face but also a tingling of nostalgia for india. thank you for posting :)

  • what a poem and what a poet.......... awesome.

  • Just Beautiful. It so practical.

  • As much as I love Gulzar, and I really do, wtf is this? This is a poem? It's a rambling anecdote which goes nowhere. Why are people clapping and vahvahing at 4:54? Total BS man.

  • he is just great..

  • Thx..........

  • Announcer/Host is speaking Hindi whereas poem is pure urdu with farsi

  • The one who did it has indebted many like me.

  • We, Indian call it Hindi...Pakistani call it Urdu.....Thats a majic of this laguage. I told many persons here in Canada, that both scripts are totaly different in writing, but when we speak, one can't tell its Hindi or Urdu, unless it is spoken purely in Hindi or Urdu...Thanks.

  • @nsamwan

this is not true..Hindi is not a defined language and it seems it cant stand on its own which is why it borrows heavily from Urdu lexicon...on the other hand Pakistanis use Urdu within its parameters and will never use an Aapman for Beizzati..Hindi needs to define itself and its users adn speakers better start having pride in its Sanskrit vocabulary which brings it closer to all Indian languages..Bollywood Hindi sounds like Farsi and is better understood in Pakistan.

  • @Rahee1999

urdu is an indian language, the so called national language of pakistan though majority speaks punjabi.

you don't use apmaan because you don't want to use it as it is not related to persian, indians use beizzadi for apmaan because beizzadi is also indian as it is urdu.

and how come hindi is not a defined language? how come urdu is a defined language whereas urdu borrows most of its words from persian, turkish, arabic and its grammer itself comes from hindi language. continued

  • @Rahee1999

the pure hindi which has no connection with persian words and that is direct descendant of sanskrit. if urdu is defined then hindi is urdu's mother cause you are descendant of indo-european, more precisely indish language.

you should ashamed of saying shits

  • @pearl1729

ashamed of what? regardless Hindi is mother of Urdu, Hindi is changed beyond recognition. Indeed Hindi as used in Bollywood movies or by Gulzar sahab himself is beyond recognition...Hindi sounds like a Middle Eastern language, and day by day it is distancing itself from all other Indian languages which rely heavily on Sanskrit for its vocabulary...

  • @pearl1729

one main reason is Hindi literature is pbbly poor as most of its educated speakers use English..not the case with Urdu, which is why it has completely replaced Hindi in the movies..all languages define themselves..it takes years for new English words to get into the Oxford or Webster..not so with Hindi..modern Hindi, its phrases, its idioms are all heavily Persianized and not even Indian..India's national language should be replaced by Bengali, or Tamil.

  • For all of those who find themselves questioning whether Gulzar sahab's poetry is Hindi or Urdu or a mix...they seem to not see the magic of his words which goes beyond the nitpickings of languages.

  • Is it some kind of joke or what?... Gulzar sahab attending a hindi sammelan and reciting a Poem (well he claims that it is a poem) excessively laden with Urdu and English words... I had hard time defferentiating whether in between he is conversing with the audiences or just continuing with the recital of whatever 'it' was?

  • kya kahu shukriya ada karana bhi apake andaj ki tauhin ho sakati hai.

Bas itanahi kehata hun, uparwalene hamari galitiyan sudharnekeliye apako bheja hai.

us upari manzil ke sath sath laga hai hamara sahitya romanchit hona bhi khali na ho jaye.

    dhanyawad.

  • एक शानदार कविता. गुलज़ार का अन्दाज़ ........................... महान है ये व्यक्तित्व

  • Good for mushayara but not so great.Gulzar can write a poem at will but this doesn't seem inspired poem.

  • such a nice poem....i must say...

  • why in today's time we are fighting over Hindi , urdu. Poetry means Rasanubhuti. I think sivashan had not understood the bhav of the poem. That is why such comments. In such a brief he has narrated the generations. what do you mean by authority on Hindi. Which language has remained pure. Why not. Dont you think combo meal is the best

  • This is such a Joke!!! Gulzar sahib at Vishwa Hindi Sammelan!

Gulzar Deenvi ( aka Sampooran Singh) is a child of pre-partition India. He has had no formal education in Hindi. While he may be one of the most prolific writers of Urdu, he is neither an authority nor a standard for Hindi. Even the poem he recited (he called it Nazm too) was in Urdu.

  • Siva, Hindi seen with the myopic view of 'standard khadi boli' alone will never survive..

hindi+urdu IS hindi.. and gulzar saab has done more for its survival than most 'formally educated' hindi poets.

And why did you feel the need to mention him being a 'chid of pre-partition India'? you have a problem with that?

  • I have the utmost respect for Gulzar sahib. But, my disdain is towards the organizers of this committee and Indian society in general. Independent India hasn't produced a single prolific writer in Indian very own national language. Munshi Premchand, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Harivansh Rai Bacchan et al. have all been the children of Pre Independence Indian Education system. Sampooran Singh is a great Urdu poet, he shouldn't have been the chief guest of the Hindi Sammelan.

  • actually u don't have a problem with gulzar sahib. u have problem u Urdu and his of being a muslim who loves his culture and alnguage. If u guys don't like urdu ( which i am sure r the only ignorant hindus only ) than ur singers shouldn't sings songs wiht urdu poetry and ur so called hindi films r not hindi they have urdu dialogues .. u left with wat ? nothing so dont be so ignorant that u cant see ur reality

  • He is sikh you fool not muslim

  • LOL r u sardar no wonder no one else would say such a thing LOL , I dont see a turban on his head, neather an untakencare beard and a dagger on him, and i have never head of name Guzar sing lol , I loled so hard that my turnab fell in to my curry hahahhaahah

  • @superkooool

    See these links also:-

bro please check about him on imdb and other sites. It's the same information.

one important point :- He was born in pakistan so if he was muslim then why he fled to India. It doesn't make sense.

read about him in detail and then please reply me what you think about his religion now.

  • Beyond words

  • Not worthy of Gulzar Sahab

  • simply touching...

  • what a personality !!!

  • Wonderful...suhanallah

  • all time gr8

  • This is very typical of we indians beeing very nostalgic, we always look back.

This reminds of george Harrison song "All thing must pass".

  • .

    beautiful

    :-)

    as usual

    .

  • I am just greatful to the person, who posted it. Thank you.

Listening to Gulzar's poem in his own voice - only a few things can parallel it.

  • @jarinwallah yeah i m thankful too

  • Gulzar sahab is an authority when it comes to urdu poetry, but this is a Hindi Sammelan...

He is reciting an Urdu poem... Har cheez ki jagah aur waqt hoti hai... Just an opinion.

  • i was thinking the same O_o

  • Yes, you are absolutely right.

  • @cruizer1983

You apparently are missing the point, however, If you listen to Ashok Chakradhar who's giving the intro - he's clearly saying that ab sare silsile todte hue..

Gulzar's poetry can not be classified as purely Urdu Poetry. So enjoy the recital mate.

  • @cruizer1983

    Balcony is an urdu word?

  • it is hindi...

  • @cruizer1983 Friend, I don't think one can segregate poetry or any sort, music of any kind, and love... What if he did that? On the contrary it builds a bridge between Hindi and Urdu. Moreover, it did not have words which were rather complicated or had specific and complex meanings. Appreciate the effort of uploader.

  • This man is unparalleled. BTW I keep saying these are the people who can pluck hindi out of its handicap of being a rural language..

  • u know out of all the frustrations..i had two off days work..i wanted peace of mind and listen to something that can entertain me..not mess up wit my mind that happens to watch indian tv shows..am very confused in my 20s i dont knw whether am so ancient or wa..i find young generation very unstable and their defination of entertainment seems a big mess to me..thanks for this posting..this is my defination of entertainment

  • If i can say this without sounding like a snob I cant stand indian channels one bit.. all they do is ape the western formulas and end up with desparate over done cliches of shoddy work

  • gulzar sahab is the best

  • Wonderful!!!!!, Great use of words and thoughts. Todays TAGORE!!!!!!!!!

    Gyanasis

  • yes man...thanks a lot..a ton..!
